holes do not line up for assembly

There is a mis-match on the seat frame holes, they do not line up, I had to have a machinist drill the holes for alignment and fit.

Sturdy Chair

The only reason I am giving it a four and not five is that my legs are too short to use it. It is really sturdy, easy to assemble and would be great for someone who is taller than 5 foot 2.

Bad armrests and could be wider with higher arms

I purchased the chair in preparation for a hip revision surgery, a hip and knee replacement to be done in the near future. I am 6 feet tall and weigh around 280.

Nice quality chair.

Chair is well made, very sturdy. I am giving it a 4 star because unfortunately there was no hardware package in the box, so I had to contact Drive company directly to have them send me out the hardware so that we could put the chair together.

Great but had hard time with assembly

Would have given it 5 stars except we had difficulty with the final assembly step where you attach the seat back to the frame. Couldn't get the holes to line up so that the bolt goes in easily. They talk about one side being tapered on the seat back but it was hard to tell so we tried both configurations. I think that the back frame was slightly off but we finally got it but I guarantee i'm never going to take it apart for anything! I am 6'3" 278 lbs. I just make it in the seat. However after my hip surgery I don't know if I'll make it.

Find another option for post hip replacement chair

Lousy, cheap construction. Mahogany NOT cherry. Cherry COLOR finish. Uncomfortable seat. Bottom support breaks easily and needs reinforcement BEFORE using the chair

Safe and secure chair for hip/leg problems

This chair is good and easy to sit in as I have hip problems due to arthritis. I usually find it very difficult to rise from a normal arm chair without assistance. This chair's seat is the right height to sit in without having to lower too much. The soft, smooth vinyl seat cushion is comfortable and easy to slide in and out. The armrests are very sturdy and good for getting in and out of the seat. The overall chair frame is sturdy metal tubing construction that is very strong. I felt no uneasiness about sitting in it ( I'm 275 lbs). However, it is also heavy, weighing 37 pounds and not easy to move when using a walker or cane. It arrives disassembled, and while easy to assemble, it does need a second person to do so.

drive medical chair

no setup instructions with chair - which is extremely dangerous w/medical chair. paid handyman to take out of box (too heavy for me - just had hip surgery) & put together. he refused to setup w/o instructions or fear he might do it improperly and I suffer a collapse of chair. I had to pay him for unpacking & repacking chair (money wasted).

Worth the money spent

The chair was delivered quickly, easy to assemble, sturdy and serves our needs while awaiting surgery and recovery. I see no need to purchase a chair at double the price for hopefully a temporary condition.

Hip High Chair really does the trick

I bought this hip high chair for my husband who cannot put weight on his right leg. It has given him independence because he can get himself into and out of the chair onto his walker. The chair is sturdy and looks nice.

Bought this and when it arrived the wood was cracked all the way through on the legs, the seat material looked worn, and the material on the arm was pulled away fr the wood. Very disappointed. Returned and did not reorder.

Better than the wood chair by Drive

I originally ordered the wooden framed hip chair by Drive Medical. The box arrived damaged, with chips to the legs. Verge chair was attractive teal-like blue and dark wood. Photo shows chair as light blue, it is not. The color is nice though. The seat depth is made for a small person. It is very shallow, so ordered this metal framed dark brown vinyl hip chair by Drive Medical. It fits adults and a 200 lb person fine and is sturdy. Box arrived in better condition, but more attention should be paid to the product quality control and shipping box. Trim on top of chair was not evenly sewn. Chair is comfortable with room for a back pillow. For the price and that you can buy from Walmart and return within 90 days, it worked for the purpose needed.

Well built

I purchased this chair prior to my hip replacement surgery to help me through the recovery. It is a well built and easy to assemble and worked just perfect. Not comfortable enough to sit in all day but is easy to get up from.
