The product itself was fine and easy to use, but slight leaking occurred when following the instructions on the box. The thin rubber gasket did not sufficiently seal against the top part of the sink to make the installation water tight. I was able to remedy the situation by using plumber's putty instead of the gasket. There is no mention of need to use plumber's putty in the box instructions.

The product works fine and appears to be made of decent materials. Only cons include:

Drips

I just bought this yesterday and I open the box and you can clearly see that this was returned. I looked it over and it seems to be ok, I assembled it and it leaks from the top, tightened it down a little more still leaks I'm going to try one more thing by taking that Rubber seal off and putting plumber putty in place of the rubber seal and see if this works. I've heard a lot of stories about Home Depot giving you return products didn't believe it until now.

The rubber gasket that seats the drain from below the sink leaked. Had to apply plumbers putty to get it to stop. This was after another round trip to Home Depot to get a replacement gasket. Which they didn’t have. Ended up buying a separate pop up drain from Koehler brand to use the gasket. Still didn’t work. Same type gasket. Applied putty and watching for leaks.

Easy to install

This was super easy to install. About 5min total. No leaks so far. I did use some teflon tape on the top and bottom threads just to be safe because the last one I had leaked and when I took it apart and put tape on, it stopped leaking so I did that just in case. Pop up function works perfectly. Plastic seems very durable.

So simple and easy!!

I bought another brand new sink drain from another manufacturer and used teflon tape and plumbers putty to install it. It kept leaking. I tried 5 times to get it to quit leaking, but it wouldn’t. So I bought this Kohler sink drain. No plumbers putty, no Teflon tape and no tools required! Dropped it in and had tightened the big nut. No leaks!!! Took 4 minutes to install it. No plumbers putty or teflon tape or silicone!! Love this drain!!!

Ok, but requires additional items to be purchased

I got this to replace old rusted-out metal drains. The installation was very easy, however this drain may not provide watertight seal between bottom surface of the sink and the tapered rubber washer with some sink types. To resolve this issue you must buy clear silicone sealant, which is not included with this drain. So be aware of this when buying it, and also be aware of the fact that any kind of "plumber's putty" is unsuitable to use with this drain because of the plastic material this drain uses.

I bought this because the Glacier Bay faucet and pop up drain set I just purchased did not drain water from the sink. The washer and drain sits too high in the bottom of the sink. I thought it would be unhealthy to have water sitting in the sink so I bought the Kohler popup. Same thing. Water sits on the bottom of the sink even after I had not used it in two days. I am returning it tomorrow. In my humble opinion both of these products should be pulled from the shelves or there should be a huge disclaimer on the product warning of sitting water. Maybe it's just my sink but I doubt it.

Garbage product!

I bought two at HD, and barely managed to get the first one in. It says you can "hand tighten" the collar to seal the gasket under the bottom of the sink. I had to use some very large channel lock plyers to get it to finally seal properly. When I tried the 2nd one, all the little fins broke off, and I ended up breaking the collar. Despite careful testing it never did seal properly until it just broke. The Premium Metal version (at double the money) went in far easier and sealed right up.

This is the best and easiest drain around!

Having installed many sink drain stoppers, this is my immediate go-to solution. I can and will say goodbye to the little metal rod drain stoppers and have said hello to this brilliant, cheap (very inexpensive, quality and finish are A+, 1st Class and luxurious) extremely easy to install drain. No more fighting with the rod that gets stuck, breaks, is hard to clean and hard to reassemble.. do yourself a favor, go out and get one of these plugs for each of your bathroom sinks, thank me afterwards!

I have used this item on two sinks in the past with excellent results. I just purchased a third for a pedastal sink and it leaks. I tried plumbers putty and teflon tape and see a significant improvement, however it still leaks slightly. Will dismantle and redo and hopefully that fixes it. This sink appears to have a larger recess on the bottom and also try a larger rubber gasket.

[Rewarded Review] a well made drain assembly

This drain assembly is for sinks with overflow holes. It is all plastic except for the spring latch, which is made of stainless steel. The plastic is thick and sturdy. No sharp ends inside so it won't be trapping any hair. The plug has push-push action to close or open and it is easily removable by pulling. This seems like nothing special, but when I need to clean the drain line with a small snake, it saves me time and effort not having to disassemble the drain like I used to have with the standard drains with lift-rods. All in all, it is a well made drain assembly. Recommended.
