The Calypso 1 LED Pendant Light that I ordered is not what I received.What was shipped to me was a Light Source, Inc. Model # LS-19689SIL/CLR Fluorescent Light fixture.

Needs design refinement

This is a unique application of what's possible with LED technology. Lacking the gommy heavy power chord it presents a clean visage. It does have a long adjustable drop length (see pic) So it could be ideal for getting light over a specific area that has a high or cathedral ceiling. It comes up short in mounting. The base is much wider than the bracket provided to attach it to electrical box. When the 2 screws are tightened to join them, base and bracket, the base easily deforms. And the distance, about 3/8 inch, makes it difficult to align and get the second screw started. This mounting system needs refinement or redesign. Light in weight, combined with other innovations, it would definitely be a consideration over, say, fixtures like the typical florescent ones used to get this long & skinny application. Less

Looks nice, but could be brighter

I know the specifications say it's 1,700 lumens, but it doesn't seem that bright, though I don't have a tool to test that. It doesn't brighten the whole room, but it's enough for my desk.The cables adjust easily with the spring clamps, so you can set it to your desired height. The chrome gives it a nice shiny finish and it has a great minimalist look. It's not sealed, so expect bugs to gather inside on occasion.

Elegant, soft lighting. Undocumented trick to cable adjustment

I brought this home for accenting a restored cabinet in my workshop space. The light works well, but I noticed (at least in my package) there were no installation instructions, just the warning & safety sheet. It’s a standard light fixture installation, except that the pendant has 5 feet of suspension cable. Cable adjustment is easy once you realize each cable is secured with a spring-loaded clamp. Pushing cable into the housing is easy, then releasing it requires depressing the exterior sleeve (see my 1 min video).Once I had it installed, I found this particular light was not the bright, high-output light I needed over my cabinet. It is a warm glow, better suited to dining, hallway or a bar. The light diffuser (frosted acrylic shade) is open at both ends, and that can let in bugs. I think this is better for tall ceilings with the light at least 8 feet above the floor, hiding the open ends (see photo). In a bar environment, you may want to add an LED dimmer switch for even softer output.Installation takes about 20 minutes. Less

Really cute, need instructions and more brightness

Very nice looking. Was very happy to get this, just need to rethink location. The adjustable height seems great. However there are no instructions other than turn the power off. It took me quite a while to figure how to adjust the height.I adjusted the length before installing. This was wrong. I also spent way too much time trying to release the cable to get it long again. Should install with the light fully extended, then adjust it the desired position.Key feature on adjusting; for shortening just push the cord in to shorten. To lengthen the cords you need to press the lock release which is the little cylinder the cord feeds through on the exterior side if the canopy. So Easy; should be in installing directions.Not knowing what I was doing, I adjusted the cord lengths using a very small Allen wrench and loosen the sliding lock, complete waste of time. Then pulled the support cord to desired length on both sides.Really need detailed instructions. I looked online before starting. No additional information.Another issue is the mounting plate is 4 inches, but the Canopy is 4.75 inches. The mounting screws that would hold the Canopy and light fixture need to go a long ways to make contact. It works but just a bit more frustration.This looks like a fancy utility light but has only half the brightness. Using in laundry area and the old single bulb was brighter.If clear installation, including something on when and how to adjust to height, this would be rated higher. Less
