Great griddle for a great stove

Heavy gauge steel that evens out the heat. Plus being square really optimizes out the cooking area vs a griddle pan. The grease can holder holds a standard 14oz can but it is a little flimsy, I'll buy the grease cup once this breaks. In case you're wondering SG-30 is for 14" and Sg-14 is for 16" stoves.

HOT ITEM

We like the Camp Chef Professional Steel Griddle, although we did not get a chance to use this one because it didn't fit the grill that we wanted it for. We had the larger one years ago and used it all of the time. The heat is distributed thru out the griddle evenly. We could cook our entire breakfast on it. I would recommend this product for anyone wanting a griddle for their grill.

Functionally fine - casting is rough

I purchased the Costco 3-burner unit which only comes with the single burner griddle. I purchased this two burner griddle to accompany it. It works fine, but compared to the single burner that came with the Costco unit, the casting is very rough. The quality of the casting just isn't as nice. The drain hole is very small and easily clogged and the side walls are short. If it was same as the Costco unit would give it 5 stars

Great addition to the sidekick

There's not much to say about the griddle, in the end it's a piece of metal that does what it's supposed to do.

Camp chef griddle is great

Works as it should. Hasn’t warped with high heat. Comes pre seasoned. I did make the grease drain hole bigger but other than that it’s solid. 90degree corners can be a pain to clean so no 5 stars.

Great Accessory

Great accessory to my Camp Chef stove. Cooks hot and fast: crispy bacon with a single turnover, delicious smash burgers and other favorites. Clean up is a learning curve if you have not cooked with cast iron before, but it gets easier as you go.

well built griddle

i am still learning, very well built and heavy. It takes awhile to heat up. I have not figured out best flame to keep hot without warping. Also side of griddle farthest from flame is considerably cooler, but all in all great product.

It works well

On very low setting as low as the Explorer 2 can go the hottest spots are predictable for cooking. So you can move under or over cooked food around. Very easy to clean while still on the stove. Comes with a hook and loop thing that holds a cup or can for grease catch from left side of trench. I used a coffee cup that the handle was broke off, but a used bean or soup can will fit fine. I am sure you can buy a foil cup if you wanted. I gave it a four stars because it should come with a carry case for the price.

Griddle warped after 4 uses

I purchased this griddle and have used it 4 times. On the 4th cook, it warped significantly. When I emailed camp chef, they said their warranty doesn’t cover warping? The Weber griddle I use at home has been through 100s of cooks with zero issues. Plus, my experience with Weber customer service has been top notch. If you’re shopping, I would look into a different system that stands behind their product. It’s only a few months old, not worth the money.

Still Not Flat!

You’ve seen the videos mention it.. and read the reviews.. yes this griddle still doesn’t sit flat to the burner and rocks front to back. I think this will only be a minor annoyance in the end and even less if you have the adjustable feet. You would think after years of people having this issue, the manufacturer would address it. Overall, if you have the 14” burner, i would recommend the griddle.

Don’t hesitate to add this to your Kit.

This is an indispensable tool for cooking for many. I used this to cook gyros for 200 folks with great success. Heat dispersed well, and it stays hot for radiant heat and continuity. It gets hot so plan to sweat! If you cooking. A grease trap is offered as an accessory but should be standard. Grease will flow out and all over the leg of the stove/floor. Placed a cup in the provided hanging holder but the cup melted quickly. Also, a carrying bag should be standard.

3 burner griddle

I have a big gas 3 burner camp stove which I use for canning. Needed a griddle so I looked at this accessory and decided to buy it after reading many happy customers review. Unfortunately when I received mine and put it on the camp stove it was not sitting properly. I remove the shelf on the stove thinking it was the problem, no it was not. I decided to lay it on my kitchen counter to see if it lay flat. It had about an inch and a half lift from the ground on one side. It came to me warp. I went online to see if this was an issue. Apparently some people experience the same problem. Continuing my search, I discover that the blackstone brand has the same issue, at least they say it can happen during the manufacturing process, and as you use it overtime (10) the warp should go away. I could not find anything for my camp chef griddle that will explain the warping. Looking at the product you ca visually see it is raised in the middle, which cause the unevenness at the side. It cooked ok but he warping cause it to tilt when cooking.

Grease runs off to the sides

If you want to cook something that doesn't need oil, then it works ok, but for eggs and pancakes the grease runs to the sides too quickly. And that's after getting the leveling legs and making sure it's perfectly level. Also, like another poster said, the surface is really rough and very difficult to clean compared to a regular cast iron skillet. The grease trap is hard to clean as well. Would be much better if it was designed to run off into a hole with a grease can under it. Wish I had bought the stainless griddle instead.

Excellent Griddle

I've had this griddle for almost 2 years and it is without a doubt one of the best purchases I've ever made. While the stove and griddle are excellent for camping, they have found use year round on my deck. I use the griddle for all my weekend breakfasts, and the burner is extremely handy should you need to heat a large volume of water in a short period of time (compared to using the electric stovetop in the kitchen).

Backyard grilling fun again!

My husband is in grill heaven. The new trend is the griddle grills which all our friends are using to make meals more interesting with the family. We already have 4 different types of grills but found this griddle/grill piece and love it. We have grilled cheaper cuts of meat and using the cast iron side the meat is WONDERFUL. I was missing going out to restaurants but not any more. Last weekend we used the griddle side and made pancakes, eggs, bacon and tubed cinnamon rolls, (smash the cinnamon roll like pancake) . So much fun. Cheaper then buying griddle grill if you can even find one right now! Best purchase this year!

Optional and Available

Purchased to accompany when rving to cook outside. Liked the idea of being reversible cast iron. Have used cast iron before easy to cook off residue, however. This unit is difficult to clean. First use was unable to burn off residue, not easy to wipe down or use of scrubbing brush. Unit developed rust after cleaning it. Second use, cooked over the rust spots, used grilled plastic brush to clean it. Rust spots stayed. Almost like the cast iron had a coating and when it got heated, the coating vanished. Had prepped the unit by oiling it up as I have previously done cast iron pans, no instructions in box to identify prepping.

Great quality

This is a very nice, heavy duty cast iron griddle/grill which fits the Camp Chef 3-burner stove perfectly. It is not pre-seasoned but Camp Chef does also offer a cast iron conditioner which I would strongly recommend purchasing at the same time. I didn't know about the cast iron conditioner until I received the stove and griddle and I conditioned it the traditional way with oil but I think the conditioner would be easier because according to the information that comes with the griddle, you put the conditioner on before heating the griddle, which you do right on the stove. I heated the griddle first before oiling it which resulted in quite a bit of carbon deposit on the cast iron before applying the first application of oil. I might also recommend not turning the stove on the highest setting to heat the griddle for seasoning, just turn it a bit lower to avoid the carbon build up. It is all seasoned and works great now, but I think it would have been easier with the conditioner that's made to go with it!

Cooks great, very difficult to clean

The 2 sided griddle came with the 3 burner Camp Chef from Costco. The problem is that the griddle was never finished in the manufacturing process and both sides are rough like the bottom of cast iron cookware. The tops of the ridges are smooth as well as the grates on the grill box, so I know that Camp Chef can make a smooth surface. The un smoothed surface catches all kinds of grit and makes a mess of the paper towels that I normally use to clean seasoned cast iron. Camp Chef help line was no help and suggested I purchase their steel version which they said was "professional". I intend to sand this griddle with progressively finer sandpaper, season and try again. If it does not work, I will throw away the griddle and get something else, likely from someone else.

Excellent Product at a Great Value!

I purchased this griddle about a month ago and I have used it several times already for a variety of preparations such as peppers and onions and sausage. I have an older Yukon 60 dual-gas burner stove that still works great!
