Attractive, useless pan, and no customer service

This is my second Le Creuset piece, and given the massive decline in quality and total absence of any customer service support when I emailed them, it's my last.

It's a spoon rest!

This product does exactly what it's intended for. I can't think of another product that has more value for this service.

MY SECOND REVIEW OF THIS BREAD OVEN WITH UPDATES

I purchased this bread oven about 2 years ago. Had great results the first few times, high loaves, tender bread. The last few times I used it, I had disappointing results. Tried to remember what I did early on so I could repeat that success. I think I didn't use the same yeast, which is Fleischmann's Rapid Rise Instant Yeast Fast Acting. Instead I used Red Star Quick Rise and I think that was one reason why it didn't work as well. Plus this time around I used King Arthur Artisan Bread Flour instead of regular bread flour or AP flour. I also used water that was on the lower end of the recommendation, 90-100 degrees and used 90 degrees, measured with a candy thermometer. I've been super pleased with these recent two results and will continue this effort. I've enclosed two pics of the recipes I made, Basic Bread Oven Bread and Parmesan Walnut and Date Bread (from the Le Creuset recipe site), both highly recommended and loved by my better half and myself. I use my KitchenAid mixer for kneading, which helps since I have arthritis. The bread oven is great, gives a nice poofy loaf, great texture. It looks great sitting on my stove, love the Cerise color. Since there are only two of us, I slice and freeze some of it and it comes out great for toast or sandwiches. Look forward to making more of these delicious loaves! Thank you, LC!

Some flaws but is a good product.

The stainless steel lip takes in water and is impossible to dry, I already have a slight rust stain under the ridge top enamel. It also will release fluid while boiling which can cross contaminate other meals. Especially when using it for brewing kombucha. Any cross contamination can and will cause live culture to die. When I brewing my tea, I must continue to wipe brown water that leaks from underneath folded stainless, especially at the seam where the circumference meets. This represents poor manufacture and is not up to traditional Le Crueset standards. I have pieces I inherited from the 60s and 70s and the enamel seems thicker. I have used thos piece 5 times and it is already starting to discolor under rim enamel. It will not last long enough to bequeath to my children.

Perfect for what I wanted

I was about to buy a balti dish, because they really are shaped just right for making Indian and Thai curries. But then I saw the small soup pot. I already have the large (7 qt) one, and I use that for big batches of chicken curry. But that's too much for routine use; I use my smaller LC Dutch ovens normally. Still, the balti dish had me seriously tempted, until I saw how nicely curved this small soup pot was, and that it came with a lid. I'd love the cast iron lid, but for the things I'll make in this pot, the glass lid is just fine, maybe even better because of the tighter fit. It is the perfect size for a batch of Panang curry or a tasty palak paneer. I love it so much, just out of the box, that I came back to buy another while it's on sale. I usually serve two Indian curries at once, have several other LC pots with which to cook the rice. This way I won't have to choose. Forget the balti dish-this one can do so much more! I'll use this to make small batches of sauces for pastas, like a vodka sauce or mushroom cream sauce, because there's room to toss short pastas in and let it finish in the sauce, and the pan will stay warm off heat. I might just make a small batch of mac and cheese in this thing; then I can put the bacon and breadcrumbs on top and finish in the oven (sans lid, of course). The possibilities are many. (:

Disappointment- do not recommend!

I purchased this beautiful pan at a LeCreuset outlet this past spring. I was so excited! It was the most expensive pan I had ever purchased. I followed the rules of low temp, warm it up first, etc. Everything I cooked stuck. And then, the bottom immediately developed a crusted feel that I can't get off.

Quality and Style in one!

This kettle is a classic pop of color to my kitchen! Le Creuset makes quality products and in my personal opinion, is a great investment to your home! For those with bad reviews, they clearly did not read the instructions on how to properly use and care for the kettle (i.e - using extremely high heat instead of using low heat.) The kettle heats quickly even with medium to low heat. Always heat your kettle with water in it, and don't let water stand in your kettle when you're finished. Always dry your kettle before storing to avoid rust. I've used this kettle many many times, and have yet to have any issues with it. It does have a phenolic spout cover that will only melt if it is exposed to a direct heat source. These phenolic pieces are rated for the oven up to 390⁰F (195⁰C). They are not melting easily. It is a bit frustrating to see people writing poor reviews about a quality product because they do not read the instructions and do not properly use it. It is a quality kettle, and if taken care of, should last you for many years to come.

Every piece a treasure

About fifteen years ago I discovered the joy of cooking with cast iron enamel pans. I purchased a very inexpensive set that was beautiful, but cumbersome, dead heavy, and rather poor quality, suffering chips and worn enamel in short order. But it was enough for me to fall in love with cast iron enamel, and I decided to invest in Le Creuset. After getting my first pan, I was hooked; I love the way the heat radiated throughout the pan, evenly cooking food and keeping it hot from stove to table, so I continued collecting pieces. With so many beautiful colors, naturally it was impossible to stick with just one, so I now have several different colors in my collection, and I probably have too many. I display them on a metal étagière in the kitchen. My favorite piece is the large braiser in Coastal Blue, which is so beautiful that I can’t imagine why they discontinued it. Maybe it didn’t sell. Other favorites colors are Ocean, Meringue, and all the whites. There’s one tomato red Dutch oven, I don’t remember the actual color name, but it’s brighter than Cerise, and I love how it reigns among the white and blue. Oh, did I mention they are all such a pleasure for both cooking and serving? Yeah. And I’ve never had a problem cleaning up, even on the few occasions when food got burned on the bottom. Every piece still looks beautiful! Maybe it’s because with so many pieces, no single one gets constant use, but I’ve also heard from people who use one pan for everything, and I totally get it. If you’re not squeamish about a little lifting, I heartily recommend you try Le Creuset’s cast iron enamel cookware. Good luck choosing a color.

I am SO angry & disappointed. Take this comment SERIOUSLY!

I made a point of reading all the instructions, even though I'm an experienced cook, because Le Creuset is supposed to be one of the BEST, and I wanted to make sure I used it properly. The very FIRST time I cooked on it, I used a low setting (as suggested) and regardless of the type of food; protein, carb, fat, etc. it stuck to the pan. Not just sticky, wipe off with a sponge, but stuck on- ENGRAINED in the pan itself! I used the pan a few more times just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind, but it is definitely an inferior product. It looks like the coating was sprayed on so thinly, that it makes the pan virtually useless. Someone at Le Creuset thought they would save money by putting on less surface coating to save a few cents and then NOT PAY for the return shipment! Such a terrible shame.

Don't stand behind their product.

I bought this pot in February. I used it for braising a few times and found the liquid escaped rapidly. After careful inspection the pot has four lobes in the lid, probably from the casing process. However, one of these is more pronounced than the others making the lid not fit correctly. When I try to boil water, steam escapes in this area rapidly to the point it seems like the lid is set at an angle. I filed a warranty claim and was told the issue is not covered by warranty, so now I have a very expensive pot that is basically useless for any task requiring a lid when cooking. I would not ever recommend buying a product from the company. I hear Staub makes some high quality Dutch ovens and may even be willing to stand behind their products when they are not made correctly.

THE STICKERS

My mother bought her first Le Creuset in Paris nearly 60 years ago and I was raised with them. I love my own Le Creuset cookware - its quality and function have always been a benchmark.

I absolutely love this spoon rest. It’s a beautiful vibrant color. It’s not so big that it takes up a lot of counter space but it is large enough to hold two good sized spoons! I’ve been looking for something that was both functional and pretty and I finally found it! I highly recommend!
