Defective or not the problem!

The tank to bowl valve did not correct the problem. I believe the leak was caused by a bad gasket under the valve. The gasket was never mentioned by American Standard.

Quick and Easy

Quick and Easy to install. There are two main products I saw listed and you just need to make sure you are ordering the right product for your style toilet (this was for the one piece). I think the descriptions used by American Standard could be improved but otherwise this was super easy to install and had everything needed to do the swap and correct the issue for me.

Best Place to Buy

I ordered an American Standard flush valve. I received it very fast and in perfect condition. It was the wrong one. All my fault. I called them and they searched many times to get the right one for me. They were unable to find one. They said they would refund my money, and they did that night. And thier customer service people were great. Treat your very nice and knowledgeable as well. Will order exclusively from them.

FLUSH VALVE TOO LIGHT FOR THE TASK

Not even a year into this new unit IN a new Toilet and the GREEN FLUSH VALVE wants to float so as to not create seal needed. It allows water to feed down into bowl. It was clean. Added washers at top to hold it down.

The Home Depot web page had two items that looked like this but of different heights.

The only reason I gave this particular product 1 star is because it was the wrong configuration and the only kind you carried. I ended up having to order the correct part directly from American Standard and it worked perfectly.

For one-piece Champion 4 toilet only!

After receiving this part and comparing it to mine I discovered it is not tall enough and no place for mounting screws. I'll be returning this. HD could do a better job of saying it is for a one-piece Champion 4 only. Mine is a two-piece Champion 4 and it takes American Standard part number: 7381967-400.0070A.

Faulty - Twice now

bought this for my parents toilet last year March 2022. Toilet bowl when refill every 15 minutes or so just a month later. My parents are elderly and I don't live close. Was able to replace it again in March 2023. Per the installer it was faulty. We replaced it with this same flush valve assembly and just a monthly later its doing it again.

The piece is malfunctioning and will have to be replaced with a different piece( champion 4 upgrade flush with for a two piece toilet) ; which, you don't carry. I would like a store credit and a mailing label; so, I can return this item. Please, respond.

Hard to find the right one!

I took a picture of my old one still in the tank .I went to Lowe's and show the sale man the picture and he picked out one and said this will work . So went home and took it out of the box,Well it was not even closed. So I got on Lowe's web site and look at what they had . They had one that just look like what I needed . So I order it ... well looks the same but will not work . So what to do? I guess take the whole in side out and take it in maybe this time I will get the right stuff.

Verify which part you need, the old or the new one

The part was not the correct part. Apparently, the design has changed to where the part may be replaced without having to remove the tank. Unfortunately, mine must have been assembled prior to the design change. I have to visit the store to pick up the correct part. Hopefully, I can retrofit the assembly for the newer design and I won't have to remove the tank to replace the valve the next time.

Works well and is easy to install. There is some effort required to remove the clip from the attached pin. Small pliers worked but a very small screwdriver may also work. The chain length is pre-adjusted to save installation time. Obviously, a smart person or team designed this part.

A terrible design- leaves a gallon in the tank

The OEM flush tube that the flapper valve closes onto is 3.8" ABOVE the bottom of the tank, leaving at least a gallon of water in the tank with each flush. This design could not be worse, probably originates with some obscure regulatory requirement, but is totally ineffective in our toilet. Further, the diameter of the valve is so large that other valve kits will not work with it. I'm going to try to find a replacement valve, but otherwise I'm throwing out this entire American Standard toilet.

Worked great for eleven years ... but then !!!

This flush valve works great ... until it doesn't! We got eleven years' service out of ours, but then the tank (after our being away for several months), would not hold water. I believe that the one-piece toilet can only leak down through the bowl unless you have water on the floor and that our's leaks through the Flush valve assembly somewhere/somehow. However, it's a mystery where the leak is. American Standard recommends only their parts for the replacement, and so we purchased (first) the large blue seal gasket and the o-ring kit which includes the o-ring for the chain post that screws down into the flapper assembly. We replaced those and the tank still leaked. Next (second), we purchased the authentic American Standard Champion 4 flush valve assembly and took out the old, and replaced it with the new. Installation only involves taking out the four Philips head screws and scraping off the old black foam gasket from the brass seat. Is simple! However, ....

The toilet, American Standard Champion one piece has been nothing but trouble since I bought it from Home Depot in 2005. This is the 4th flush valve, and the third valve revision on this toilet. Additionally I have replaced the seal numerous times on this style of valve (the last 2) .A.S. covered parts for the 10 year warranty, but I had to change the parts, and the toilet was often not usable. This was a $300 toilet. Since this toilet, I have only installed Kohler and have had very few problems with them.

Will flush the big ones but, valve gasket leaks. I have fix

Valve gasket leaks. Here's what to do. Disasm. top half of green bulb and remove from tank. Clean & dry gasket. (Alcohol cleaning of gasket helps.) Buy Loctite Marine Adhesive Sealant. Apply thick bead of sealant around rim of top half of green bulb (where inner ring of rubber gasket will fit.)( If gasket has a concave side to it, make sure that side will contact bottom half of bulb still in tank at reinstall.) Asm gasket onto top half of bulb. Check seal visual. Cure for 24 hrs. Reinstall bulb per directions. That should do it!

this product is very poor quality, most flush valves typically do not need replaced for many many years. this one wears out on the bottom. Usually one only needs to replace the flapper. this one needs the entire valve replaced and is much more expensive. it is also an odd size you cannot buy another product to replace it with. If you have one of these you would do yourself a favor to replace the entire toilet with something not so cumbersome.

I would recommend this product if replacing a defective identical flush valve. I replaced this one because it was not staying open long enough to fully empty the water tank if the flush leverwas operated momentarily. We thought it should. To completely empty the tank, one must hold the flush lever open for a second or so. But this actually has the benefit of "lightly" flushing the toilet when only liquid waste is in the bowl, thereby saving some water. For a full flush, hold the lever down for a second. This works pretty well.

Love this Valve and Toilet

I have never loved a toilet before this one. I just replaced the flush valve assembly after 10 years of commercial use. It virtually eliminated overflowing toilets. I had only one problem when a thief tried to flush some packaging down the toilet. I am truly a fan! I don't know why you would want any other toilet in a commercial setting. It's fabulous!!!!
