Product arrived in a half torn up box that fell apart as i tried to transport it to the back yard for assembly. I didnt mind so much as i understand shipping hazards. but when i separate the peices and find crushed tubes, deep dents, missing paint i became more and more dissapointed. had to ream the crushed tubes before i could start step one. as of right now i cannot move forward as i did not receive any hardware required for assembly. no bolts, nuts, washers, caps. just a bunch of peices of a smoker in my back yard. i have spent time separating and unwrapping each peice, setting up for assembly and double checked all areas for the still missing hardware. I am looking forward to hearing what will be done about this

I love this grill. I spent Sunday afternoon putting it together. The instructions were excellent all pieces were packed well, there was a problem with one of the stands ends being bent but my neighbor is a plumber and had a tool that rounded it back out.

Wayfair purchase PO 525703763

This was purchased for an elderly family member so I haven’t used. I asked the seller for a copy of the manual in English because clearly we didn’t get it for some reason and he preceded to tell me it comes in three different languages. I’ve purchased grills from this company before but with that gratitude, this is the last time!

this smoker is an absolute beast. the only issue was the packaging. before i even opened the box, pieces were falling out. the legs where smashed where they connect. it took me an hour to open them back up and connect them. then i had a hard time connecting the grill base because the holes wouldnt match up. send me a mew set of legs, ill give u a 10.

They didn't say it was a damaged item. Main tubular frame was so bent and twisted it try lol an hour to to bend it back and I twist it so it would work.( it looks like it was twisted on purpose )

Good starterbudget smoker. Theres some flaws but Ive seen smokers costing 2 - 3xs the price with imperfections . It works fine just need to pay attention to what works and what doesnt work and adjust as you learn how to run it. Ive done a 12 hour brisket cook. It was work but worth it .I will do much better next time. My ribs and chicken were excellent!!

i really wanted the grill. Its actually a nice grill but it was damaged beyond repair when i recieved it. All 4 corners of the lid were bent in like someone had been flipping it to move it around. The box was in very bad shape because of this. Also FED-EX had dropped it in the front yard. Not too sure if they hadn't just pushed it off the truck and let it fall. I will order another one to see if the next one is any better. If not then im done.

Very well made! I was impressed at how well it went together and all the seals are tight. Every piece in the box was wrapped and the hardware comes in an easy to use divider with letters matching the instructions. Easy to follow instructions. This is the perfect size and type for what we were looking for. I'm totally happy with this purchase.

Don't waste your money

Would not recommend. Painted peeled on the first use (can't handle the heat?). Meat always has a weird taste. It's under a covered patio, but still rusting. We had a propane cabinet smoker we used 3-4 times a month. We've only used this 3-4 times in 9 months. Temperature control is a joke. Some of the holes on the wood box door don't line up, so it leaks. We'll be putting it out for brush and bulky trash this week and going back to propane or maybe electric.

The grill is great. The staff put together and delivered the grill. Purchases can be made any place. What is hard to find is service. You made my husband's birthday great for him and easier for me! The Ace Team will be my go to for the next project. Chicken wire fence to keep our dog in and bunnies out.

Paint Peeling

The picture makes it seem like you are purchasing the name brand Char-Broil smoker, this is not the case. You will receive a smoker that says 'American Gourmet' not 'Char-Broil' as pictured. American Gourmet is being sold for much less on other retail sites and when we brought this up to ACE, they would not price match in store. We needed the smoker for an event so we went through with the purchase.

Very large, light weight, cheap. functional

The smoker arrived on time, but it appeared to have fallen off the truck. upon inspection surprisingly everything seemed to be there. I didn't remove protective wrap from everything until I got to each part to assemble (bad idea)

For the money this is an OK pit.

I've been smoking meats and veggies for roughly 10 years now. I bought this smoker online without seeing it in person because it's the same char-broil smoker style I bought roughly 7 years ago. (Except the old one had the Char-broil logo as opposed to American Gourmet logo) I just put it together and there are definitely issues I am going to have to deal with it. First, the metal gauge of the chambers seem about half as thick as the old one. There is a poor coat of heat paint on it. Some parts of the small chamber don't appear to even have the black heat paint. So, I know it's going to rust pretty quickly if I don't add a coat to it before I start cooking with it. There are some small gaps with the lid and between the small and large chamber which is going to let more smoke out of the cracks than I'd like. There are dings and scrapes that definitely appear to have happened at the factory and not shipping related. It looks like Char-broil has some production issues with their supplier in China. (See attached images) All that said, you get what you pay for. I know I can fix the issues and smoke some good stuff with this so I'm not returning it. I think it's going to be an OK smoker for a year or so. It likely won't last 2 years. So, definitely think about that when your comparing different smokers. Had I seen it in person first, I would have just spent an extra $100 dollars or so for a better quality product.

I just replace one I bought 20 years ago with this one

The Char-Broil Wood Offset Smoker I bought 20 + years ago was great but it has a hole in the firebox now. I can't no longer control the heat. This one is terrible there is holes & gaps everywhere. The firebox side door is the worst I ever seen it so flimsy it doesn't even close all the way.

Great smoker/grill for the price

We bought this smoker/grill five years ago. I like the separate firebox on the side and the large grilling area. We often will smoke two turkeys at once or several Boston butts or several slabs of ribs or chicken (freeze some to warm later). You do need to practice with it to figure out how to keep the temperature low and steady when needed (won't be perfect). I would recommend keeping a cover on it as it will last longer when not in use. You can also just use it as a grill with charcoal when not using the smoker (like the dual usage). We are getting ready to replace our old one with another one and we just can't beat the price. You can certainly spend 8 times more and get a very fancy one which will also wear out eventually so the choice is yours in what you want to spend. I get it already assembled so I can't speak to assembly. Yes smoke comes out top pipe and yes it might come out any cracks/vents but it is a smoker so smoke comes out.

Large smoker, but paint cooked off during first smoke use. Easily fit 6 racks of ribs. Assembly was moderately easy, even for one person. Temperature never got above 325-350, but paint bubbled up on top, and cooked right off the bottom. These photos where taken while cooking, now about 30 of the paint on top is off, and the majority of the bottom is gone. Seeing as how my firebox rusted out on my last smoker, this was quite a disappointment. I followed the instructions for seasoning the smoker, and no issues. Would have been a 5 star rating, except for the paint issue. Must be a manufacturing issue, or just poor quality paint process.

I like the unit. It took about 1.5 to 2 hours to assemble, with the help of my son. There is a dent on the front tray, not sure how that could have happened. I'm beginning to think that Wayfair may be selling products that were listed damaged goods by the manufacturers. Hmm... But other than the dent, it's what I wanted. Although, when I buy something new I just expect it to be in new condition. I contacted Wayfair, so we will see. 5(*****) stars for the grill structure. 2(**) stars if Wayfair does not correct this.

Not recommended for casual or easy/convenient grilling

This design is great in concept and this unit is cheap, but there are a few significant problems that require buying add-ons and mods to correct. Depending on how handy you are or your desire to engage in modifying a brand new purchase, this may not be the unit for you. First, the exterior paint on the fire box starts peeling away with the very first heat. If you're not buying for looks, this isn't a big deal. Second, the connection from the firebox to the main barrel is not tight enough to prevent significant heat loss. There are mods out there that can reduce this. Also, there is a ton of space in the main barrel so you can do indirect heat on smaller cooks. I strongly recommend reviewing blogs and YouTubes on the various mods needed for this type (see also similar pit called Oklahoma Joe w similar needs) before committing to this purchase. Third is coals management. This is not something unique to this grill but definitely a consideration. After my couple of first attempts, I've found this is an art that requires some perfecting. If you're a charcoal noob like me, be prepared to spend the time to get your coals technique perfected. So if you're crafty and don't mind spending the time/$$ to tweak, mod, and practice, this could be a good choice. Otherwise, buyer beware.
