Nice USA Quality Kerosene Pressure Lantern

Glad to see Made In USA Kansas on the box! Easy assembly and some light reading of the included paperwork instructing users on proper use and care, gathering the kerosene fuel can and filling the starter fluid bottle with rubbing alcohol and within a few minutes I had a nice lantern lighting my hen house with warm bright light. This pressure lantern is just what i needed to light my hen house late afternoons to encourage my hens to come in for the night. They like the warm bright glow it produces.

First off they sell the lanterns but don’t offer the size mantles these need so that’s neat.

This Coleman Lantern is so handy to have around and easy to use. We've used ours many times for camping and during power outages. Brightens up a large area. We love it.

Kerosene lantern ....last of a dying breed....

As others have said, it's nice Coleman still makes a kerosene lantern in their lineup....n it sure how long that will last, but I suspect its still fairly popular among liquid fuel diehards. Overall decent quality (strong similarities to previous Coleman gas lanterns), although the way the bail attaches to the ventilator could better secured and the frame/burner assembly is only pressed metal....but things are just not made like they used to. Otherwise, light up is straight forward (just follow the pre warm up instructions) and it does burn quite bright. I bought a second one as a backup. Was not sure if there is a compatible case for this lantern. Globe is made in China. Well packaged in box. Received via FedEx with no issues. Buy it when it's 40% off direct from Coleman.

Nostalgic lantern

Love the lantern. Pretty easy to light and burns a long time. Only thing I have an issue with is it doesn't look like colman makes a carrying case for it and don't sell the mantels on their website anymore.

This lantern is easy to use and gives off plenty of light. I like being able to use kerosene as a fuel. I love using all of the Coleman liquid fueled lanterns.

Great For Fishing On The Beach Late At Night

Great product I use it every week for late night and early morning surf fishing on the beach. It provides a usable, no disruptive warm light with great ambiance that I believe everyone should get the chance to enjoy and experience I couldn't recommend this enough.

Good light output, but some issues

The lantern arrived much faster than expected, thank you Coleman. Easy to light, great light output, but a couple of issues: The lantern is too noisy on full power to relax or have a quiet conversation near it - it's really loud - I have Coleman white gas lanterns and they burn much quieter. You can adjust the 639 down somewhat to make it quieter, maybe a third of the way down from full, but then the kerosene smell gets very strong, so apparently it's not burning completely unless at full power - this cancels out the usefulness of any adjustability.

Liquid Fuel Lantern Utility and Atmosphere

Great, old school lantern. I own many Coleman liquid fuel lanterns and stoves. They were part of my time in The Boy Scouts and throughout my years of camping. This is my first kerosene lantern and I am looking forward to many years of great service. So glad Coleman still builds these models.

first kerosene lantern

I have 12 Coleman lanterns. This was my first kerosene lantern. I took it camping in cold weather in the teens. After lighting the lantern I ran it on low for about an hour. I tried to turn up brightness and got flames and smoke. I could not get lantern to glow and eventually sooted it up so badly it was useless. Compared to my other Coleman lantern was made way more cheaply. I definitely did not like the way I had to take the lantern apart to change the generator. After cleaning up the lantern and blowing out the air mixing tubes I have the lantern running. I will never run the kerosene lantern on low again. I recommend go with a gas lantern.

Good Lantern Burns Bright Cheap to Run!

These Kero lanterns are great!! i have older white gas lanterns but decided to get a new Kero lantern(used coleman kero lanterns are on the rare side and usually pretty expensive) Started off with one of these lanterns 2 years ago and now i have 4! Make sure to follow startup instructions and try a peerless 111 mantle sometime they are very bright and durable.IF YOUR VAPORIZER IS CLOGGING OFTEN try opening the control knob from off to on then immediatly off very quickly after pumping up lantern to purge the air from the brass tube BEFORE PREHEATING took me awhile to figure out why generator was clogging up with carbon frequently but it was because of preheating a dry generator with just the kero residue inside will carbon up the generator in a flash

Coleman Lantern packing and shipping complaint

Received the lantern undamaged. It wasn't packed very well, when compared to lanterns that I've bought in the past. The only protection was a brown wrapping paper coiled up and wedged into one side of the box. Skimping on shipping protection seems like a poor way to cut corners to save some money, especially when the lantern gets damaged and Coleman has to ship another one to replace it, still taking a chance with very little protection.

Quality control now what it used to be.

This is my second kerosene lantern i bought from coleman, the first was perfect but the second one had globe issues ...the globe was just a tad too tall and would not turn with the vent on even the bail wire rubs on the glass ..just waiting for it to break.
