Very secure and sturdy, better than expected, one slight problem, I stripped out the cheap screws that were enclosed, I replaced them 2" exterior deck screws with good results.

I have installed four of these in two bathrooms. They definitely add a measure of security, especially for older people. Installation for me was quite simple because I have the experience and tools for this type of project. Less equipped and experienced individuals, not the hands-on type, might need some help, expecially if installing over tile, but most any craftsman friend should be able to handle this for those who have such. I like the 1-1/2" bar size. The bar is not knurled. It is smooth finished, but for me, quite adequate. I did not use the furnished screws because there is no need for rounded-head screws that will be covered, and the tiny phillips sockets on those furnished wouldn't handle much pressure without stripping. However, hex-head screws or screws requiring square or star drivers will all work in the heads are large enough. Those furnished are 2" long. I used some 2" and some 2-1/2", depending upon the thikness of the tile or the other type wall material. I suggest having a stud finder, a drill with assorted bits, for me, a hammer drill and concrete bits, a level and a pencil to mark where the hidden studs are located. Unfortunately, most US contruction has studs on 16" centers and these 24" bars will need to be mounted vertically on one stud or sloped between two - unless installing on a dry wall and fastening onto a board that will bridge three studs. Figure for yourself, but paying $116 for Home Essentials Direct installer is to me, goofy!

Reason 3 stars, these are great grab bars,the best. But, they provide you with junk mounting screws. Phillip's head, that strip out. Terrible screws. I've got these bars all over my place, being disabled, I use them alot. I've even had a professional come install some. And the screws, just throw away. Every handyman knows Phillip's screws are junk and strip out. These are cheap metal, and will strip before you can get one screw part way set. You must use your own screws or go buy some. Other than this issue, these are the best grab bars .

Seems to be a decent product. The product description on Home Essentials Direct though for this product is deceptive. It states that it is "SecureMount design for easy, secure installation," but fails to state that the SecureMount hardware is not included, and in fact, it a separate item and charge that is actually more expensive than the grab bar, itself. At the very least, to not be deceptive, it should clearly state that the SecureMount hardware must be purchased separately. Nevertheless, I installed the grab bar vertically without using the SecureMount hardware and was able to install it directly into a stud, so it is very firmly attached to the wall.
