Beautiful sink, but....

I did lots of research online for sinks. I liked the design of a basket type drain. Elkay sinks came highly recommended for the price. Per my building rules I can only have all metal parts for drain, no plastic and this was the only sink with basket drain that fit the rules. The basket drain is very deep at 2.5inches, and hard to clean, if Elkay can design a drain basket at 1.5 or max 2inches deep that would work better to reach in to clean debris. Also less then a week I have the rust spots that I've seen in many reviews. It's sad that a brand new sink developes these spots. When my old stainless sink, 40+years old never did. The spots also are around the basket drain and need extra care to prevent. I love the look of the sink, just sad about the rust and having to really keep on top of them. Would I purchase Elkay in the future? I'm not sure yet. I have to compare to a neighbor who purchased a $600 kohler sink, and see the comparison. I'll also add when I had called Elkay about a question, the customer service was very pleasant.

The sink is big, beautiful and very utilitarian -- holds a ton. Would give it 5 stars if the water spots weren't so hard to remove. Seems I just can't wipe the sink down with a dish towel after use -- I must use stainless steel cleaner. Because the sink is so big, the water spots are really noticable. Because the sink is so beautiful, I don't want to look at water spots. So there's a whole lotta cleaning going on with my new sink. I also got the sink mat to protect the sink from dents and scratches, and guess what? The feet of the mat scratched the sink! Go figure. . .In terms of size and utility, though, the sink is perfect.
