[Rewarded Review] Will not maintain temperature

I set the temp on 225 for its first go round. I let the temp "stabilize" for an hour, then I monitored the temp as it fluctuated between 199 and 354 over the next two hours. I never opened the lid. Walmart gladly accepted my return.

Disappointed with having several damaged panels, I also have troubles with the app connecting to the grill, but may be my wifi. Lastly I had several times the smoke pot would go out mid cook and ruin my food. Buy after some investigation the grate baffle in the hopper did not like some of the longer pellets and would jam, causing voids in pellet feed leading to the fire going out.

As others have said, poor temp regulation. When set to 225, it would fluctuate between 190 and 360. Warranty service includes you learning how to work on the unit and it is slow. I replaced many of the internal components myself and still could not get it to work. I wasted a few hundred dollars worth of meat and at least 4 hours of my direct time diagnosing and working on the unit before returning it and swallowing the restocking fee. To be fair, my friend has one that works great which is why I purchased this.

CPG-256 Smoker

This was given to me as a gift & is a perfect size for me. After closely following the break-in instructions, I found the smoker averaged 100 degrees above the selected temperature. Customer service was great and sent me a new temperature controller, this was no small deal as it's the most expensive part of the whole smoker! Sadly the second controller gave me about the same results....ugh. I would like to buy a new one just to see the results, but will not because of the cost. No slow cooking of brisket for me. :(

High quality item, but it's just a little small. A rack of ribs barely fits.

one serious issue

the thermostat controls at 50° increments. so if you wish to cook at $325°, you are out of luck!

Retirement gift

Item does not work. I will have to return. Was suppose to be a retirement gift for my husband.

Compact and Works Great!

Bought to use with our new RV. First night we had steaks - best tasting steaks we've had in a long time; second night we smoked a turkey breast . . . wow! We love it!

The grill works great.

The grill was very easy to assemble and directions pretty easy to follow. First use was great food.

Defective Cuisinart , Broken Spot Welds!

I received my Cuisinart CPG-256 with broken spot welds where the drip tray is attached to the wall of the unit with three tiny spot welds. I contacted Cuisinart and discussed the issue with them and they didn't seem interested in my issue. This is clearly a manufacturing defect or poor design. I bought it on Amazon and once you open the grill it's almost impossible to repack to return.

Cheap inadequate temp control

The grill is behind the times. It doesnt use pid temp control instead it just feeds pellet on a time based schedule so the temp can vary 100 degrees. The pellet feed tube is too low in the fire pot allowing the fire to back up into the tube and catch the hopper on fire. Better brands have remedied this issue by using a deeper pot or baffles. The grill will probably work for hamburg but I wouldnt try an expensive or temp demanding meat on it.

This is a wonderful pellet cooker. We purchased it to keep it in our camper. It’s the perfect travel size We are very happy with it and would recommend it!
