This rain barrel is perfect for our garden watering needs. The double spout is convenient as this feature serves multiple purposes. The open top for another plant is exactly what this gardening enthusiast needs!
It overflowed the first rain. Now that I have a 90 gallon as well, they both filled up completely and had to be emptied before the next day's expected rain. It would be nice to be able to access the inside with a foolproof lid so I could use a transfer pump. I now have 200 gallons of water in various new trash cans. I wanted to save water but I guess this wasn't such a good idea. Haven't given up.
Solid construction, very thick and should hold up well to the elements. The drain holes in the top should be a little lower to better remove the standing water from the top flower bed section. Also the two spigots are not great. While they appear to be a standard diameter to a hose, they actually narrow inside the spigot which drastically limits the flow. I wouldn't buy again, but for now it's fine.
Arrived in great condition. The bag with the parts was in the filter section with all the tools needed to add the two faucets. You just needed your own screwdriver to undo filter. It seems sturdy. I’m using it to catch the air conditioner run off. Haven’t added any flowers to center. But I think this will work perfectly for what I intended
It def serves its purpose in a good way, the only negative is the top doesn't have small holes so when it rains the water collects. I can see how it will drown live plants, or be moldy with fake plants. Other than that, really enjoy having a rain barrel that's good quality.
So far so good
I have not had this for very long, so I can only speak to the unboxing. It was easy to set up. The other rain barrel we purchased had instructions for drilling small holes in the planter area that this one did not. We ended up with standing water there since we have not planted anything yet. I would recommend drilling small holes on this barrel as well.
My wife and I recently had an outdoor fireplace built and the location of that fireplace dictated a re-arranging of gutters. In one place I had no option for the water running off the roof so a rain barrel made sense. I looked at a lot of rain barrels and this one was easy on the eyes, it matched our outdoor decor and had some features we liked. Delivery was fast. I placed the barrel on some small "pavers" so I could raise the barrel some as I wanted the barrel to have a slight pitch forward for draining purposes. I should add that I live in the Seattle area so the rain barrel will definitely get a work out. The only reason for not giving this five stars is that the drain holes at the top of the barrel for the plants were not completely drilled out. Picky I know. I drilled out the holes and so far, the barrel works as intended.
Currently working with Wayfair to figure out where my rain barrel is. Both Wayfair and Fed EX show my rain barrel was delivered but I never got it. I expect to hear from Wayfair in a few days after they check with the manufacturer. So far it's a 0 rating. I will update review, if I can, when I get more information. Wayfair customer service is very nice to work with. She gets a 5. Update - I was told it would be a couple of days and customer service would get back to me. Well in a couple of days the rain barrel arrived, just in time for the first monsoon rain. We are extremely pleased with how it works and especially like that it has two spigots at different heights. It's a keeper.
This has been functioning most of the summer and overall we are very pleased. It has a very nice look to it and goes well with our dark wicker deck furniture and black iron tablechairs. The brass spigots are well made. The higher one is perfect for watering cans. There is a second lower one at the base to which I will be attaching a hose for it to drain into my garden over the winter. What was not made clear in the description (allow a few others mentioned draining to the back in their reviews) was the overflow from the planter part. I do not intend to plant anything in it as the barrel is on my deck catching rain water from our deck cover and do not wish the dirt mess on my deck. As you will see from the 2nd pic there are 2 exit holes on the outside of the backside of the barrel (last pic is of drain hole inside the planter area). I intend to plug these and drill holes in the base of the planter so that all the water goes into the barrel.
This rain barrel was exactly what we wanted. The price is what we wanted to pay and the delivery was free. It was delivered fast and was very pretty. My husband put it in place and hooked up the drain pipe to it and we bought plants for the top that we planted and it is beautiful. We have already used it to water a lot of our plants in our yard as well as filling our water feature. Thank you Wayfair we are never disappointed with anything that we have ordered. We also bought a hot tub and use it year round. Can’t wait to find the next item to purchase from you.
The rain barrel itself is very sturdy and looks great. We dont love the overflow design though. There is a small channel that diverts water to the front but any any decent rainstorm it doesnt follow the channel it overflows to the back of the barrel. If you go with this barrel I would suggest coming up with a different diverter solution. One similar to one of the pics in the review where if the water backs up it just simply flows down the gutters. There is plenty of instructions on the internet.
Pleasantly surprised.
We were pleasantly surprised with our new Nantucket rain saver, it is quite stylish, the spickets are well made and it even came with Teflon tape. I would have a few suggestions for improvement, make the top a little stronger so that you could put a fairly heavy pot of plants on it. I think it's designed to plant right in it, but we would rather just put a pot on top so you can remove it when tilting or cleaning out the unit. I put a pot on top and I was worried it could break through the thin top piece. Also, we are using it with a rain chain, should make the option to run chain and water down the center of it vs. just the rear of it, and maybe a closable hole in the screen to run the chain down into the unit, or better yet, 2 screens, 1 for a regular drain spout and 1 for a rain chain.
