I got this to replace one of those battery powered doorbells that was constantly in the fail mode. I looked at the offerings Home Depot had but I wanted something more substantial and that would make noise when used. The HD knockers were too light and stiff. This door knocker is fairly substantial, the knocker swings freely and works really well in the noise department. Like everything else in life you get what you pay for.

I received the door knocker. I was disappointed because although I needed the 8 1/2 " knocker to replace the one we have, the holes do not line up and I can't use the new one. The old door knocker holes for attachment are 4 3/8". I'm going to give it to someone for a shower present.

I purchased a pair of these to replaced polished brass products. I needed 5" centers and these fit the bill. Nice feature is the through-the-door screws which can be snapped off to fit any door (measure twice!). Hammers arrive unattached but are easy to install -- I put a dab of petroleum jelly on the ends to silence them when used. A very solid product.

This is a quality, heavy door knocker. I had to trim the screws as they were too long for our door. The screw can only go into the knocker about 3/16". I like the design also.

The door knocker for the 1st shipment had a lot of marks and imperfections in the finish. I had contacted Wayfair and they immediately responded and sent a 2nd one which was very impressive. While the 2nd one looked a bit better it still has a few imperfections in the finish. I kept it as it was difficult to find this exact size and color.

The screw holes fit my door perfectly so I could remove the one with the previous owners name. Most on Home Essentials Direct did not state where the screws would be. Looks good. Had adjustable screws (snip off ends for smaller doors.)
