Great Mattress

My wife uses this Bariatric Alternating Mattress to improve her comfort as well as prevent bedsores. She has been bedridden since her paralysis for 20 months.

Easy Process!

I needed an air mattress for the individual I serve as soon as possible. MDmaxx made the whole process as smooth as glass! From ordering to receiving the mattress it was a very easy, pleasant process. I will use MDmaxx again!

Great product

My mom was on hospice came home with terrible bed sores. Although now as a blessing she is improving. Her alternating pressure bed is definitely helping. The air pump has a continuous white noise but isn't bad at all. Mom fell asleep instantly and loves it. I highly recommend it. Easy to assemble as well. We've had no issues great reliability.

Very Comforable Mattress

The Drive 14027 Low Air Loss Mattress is comfortable to sleep on and has eliminated the mild pressure soreness I experienced on an inner spring mattress. It is superior to the 5 inch low air loss mattress topper I had tried before. The alternating pressure function is virtually imperceptible, but I assume it is working. Sitting on the edge of the bed to get dressed is more difficult now because the is less edge support, which also makes me worry about lying too close to the edge and falling out. It will take getting used to. Standard twin extra long sheets fit very nicely although they dont tuck under the sides because of the straps holding the mattress to the bed frame. The air pump makes a noticeable constant humming noise like a white noise machine. All in all Im very happy with the mattress.

Great mattress and value.

My wife suffered a stroke in 2018. When she was released from the hospital she spent a month in a rehab facility. When I brought her home I noticed "hot spots" on her rear end I did some research and found this mattress and it sounded pretty good. It was delivered 4 days after purchase and her hot spots were gone in another four days. After nearly 3 years I noticed the pump wasn't keeping it fully inflated. I opened it up and found several leaking baffles. I capped off the worst and moved them around a bit so she could still sleep on it. Now she is on the new one and it works perfectly. I highly recommend this matress for anyone who spends most of their time on their bed

Excellent for prevention of bed sores and comfort.

My mother has been bedbound and on this mattress since 2014. She has never left the bed and the pump and mattress have been in continuous use. This mattress has far exceeded its warranty and actually, it was the pump that needed replacing, but I went ahead and got them both. Highly recommend.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMPANY AND PRODUCT

Great product...just what the doctor ordered. The sores on my husbands bottom cleared up within a week of having the mattress.

Poor choice for a paralyzed patient

Caution, buyer beware, item nonreturnable! My husband is C5 quadriplegic, totally unable to move on his own. This mattress, even on the soft setting fills to a taught firmness. I could not turn him safely on this bed. There is no give, flotation to this product. He was perched on a very hard surface. If this mattress would shut off filling when fill indicator reads normal pressure it might have been workable, however, it continues to fill even as indicator says normal pressure. Looking back, we were not wise purchasers, you get what you pay for, a mattress of this price range was not what we should have considered. Now we have no mattress and we are out our $500+. I am an RN CCM, I should have known better!

Great mattress for the price!!!

So far this mattress is working really well for me. The price was awesome, I've had other ones that cost way more & was lucky to last 6 months. I've only had this about a month so hoping it will continue to work & even if it only last as long as my other ones at least I saved money. I'm a quadriplegic & have some pressure wires on my hips & they are finally getting better once I got this mattress. My other one was not working right.

Easy to set up and mantain, it's perfect for us!

This is the mattress that my daughters reconstructive specialist wanted for her, so she would have the best chance to heal. We found a great buy on ours and it has been perfect! All the nurses said how lucky Mandy was to get such a great mattress, it was the best. I'm really happy that I could find what she needed so fast, Thank- You so very much, TIMI>^..^<

Replacement for failed existing system

this is the best downgrade at a fair price from our previous Mason product that has auto rotation and failed. Evaluating this product for use, as I cannot find anyone to repair the Mason pump. It looks good, fits well and was promptly delivered. It appears to be doing the job so far.

Overall happy but wish it was better

This mattress does what I would call micro adjustments. Other mattresses that I have been on you could feel major changes in which tubes were filled with air. This mattress does little changes that the only reason why I know it's changing is I can hear the crinkle of the tube as they inflate or deflate. And you have to be still and it has to be quiet to hear the changes. My other complaint with the mattress is the cover tends to move with me when I try to pull myself higher into the bed. I'm 6' tall and it seems that I work myself down the bed to where my feet are touching the foot board. When I pull myself up, the cover moves with me. So when I let go it pulls me back down. I don't use a sheet with this mattress, which is what you are supposed to do if you need the low air loss function of this system. After all of that, I would still recommend this system. My skin is in better shape with this system and some high quality chucks that have good air flow. I had been on a model 14027 that didn't fully inflate anymore. So almost anything would have been an improvement. When you make a decision just make sure you do tons of research before you give up your hard earned money.

Discusted!

I got my mattress 2 years ago and I've had to replace bladders 14 times. They simply don't hold up. I'm on a fixed income and my insurance has stopped paying for the repairs. I will be out of pocket for all repairs for 3 more years. It seems like this is a problem for others as well. D the right thing and FIX THIS PROBLEM!

problem with the alternating pressure

We bought this system for my wife's mom. First one worked great for almost one year. Then the mattress lost pressure ever other tube. We sent back the compressor got a new one and still the same issue. Amazon gave us credit and we ordered a new one. the new one holds air but does not lower the pressure and does not alternate the air pressure. WTF! We spoke with tech support he said to try changing the valves that are yellow and red near the CPR air release , that didn't work either. Maybe you should stop selling this product . We now have 2 compressors that are doing same thing just hold the pressure on frim and no alternating pressure..

Fantastic value, good product

Works well. Whatever you do, choose a mattress with "low air loss" -- do not buy a mattress that ONLY offers alternating pressure! There is good evidence from studies that "low air loss" mattresses help prevent and heal bed sores, but no good evidence for alternating pressure. This one has both. you can disable the alternating pressure if you like) The low air loss on this mattress is CONTINUOUS, which is a good thing! Some other mattresses (such as several from invacare) have low air loss that is only "on demand" -- you have to push a button which then only activates it for perhaps 20 minutes. I believe continuous low air loss is sure to work more effectively. The noise is perhaps twice as loud as a big aquarium pump. I found I could eliminate much of the noise if I paid careful attention to the hose connector where it plugs into the pump, a slight gap will makes a loud hissing noise. Press it in well, or tie it if you have to, and no problem. There also are some vibrations generated that propagate through the bed frame, but aren't felt by the patient unless they lean on a rail. If you had absolutely no other noise generating devices you still might be annoyed by it, but I'm managing to sleep fine in the same room. What is low air loss? There are zillions of tiny holes on the mattress constantly emitting small amounts of air, which prevents and heals bed sores by keeping skin cool and dry. In order for a low air loss mattress to effectively prevent bed sores, you need to minimize the amount of material between the patient and mattress! That means ideally a thin cotton sheet only, or even no sheet and only underpad if there is an existing sore. I'm also using a thin disposable bed pad, and looking to buy a variety specially designed to breathe well for this purpose. Update: Am using kendall "maxiflo", specially designed for low air loss matresses -- good results. In the event of a power outage, the mattress would eventually deflate creating an uncomfortable and unsafe surface, so that's something to think about. It'd probably be ok for a bit, but I have a foam mattress I can swap in if we get stuck with a long outage. Haven't been through it yet. Update: I bought a yamaha 2000 backup generator converted to run on propane, enough to keep refrigerator going too. Other recommendations for bed sore prevention: Baza Perineal Lotion after regular changes (moisture barrier). Sage "prevalon" heel protector (heel & tailbone are 2 most common bed sores) For bed sore treatment: xenaderm ointment (prescription only). Keep pressure off, regular turns every 2hours, cool & dry. Low air loss is no substitute for regular turns but does really help

Looks great but only works

If you can afford to buy a new one every few weeks it's great but no before you buy it that it won't last very long. I understand $400 doesn't buy much these days but my Son is a paraplegic so he spends all hid time in bed I needed something to help him more comfortable. Thought maybe the first one I bought was just a mistake so I bought a second one but neither lasted very long.

Great price, quiet unit

This is a great mattress for the price! For my adult daughter with special needs it's great! Very quiet, nice alarm if it deflates, wipeable and durable. Nice cover too! I have had this model before. It is awesome!! Get a cheap, egg crate foam topper for underneath for 30 bucks and you have the same as a more expensive model worth 300 more dollars. I also cover ours with a waterproof mattress cover. It has a very nice quality cover that unzips.
