What I don't understand is the requirement to purchase a carbon filter with a hepa filter. I was told I could not purchase a carbon filter separately. If a carbon filter lasts for 4-6 months and a hepa filter 12-15 months one ordinarily would need about 3 carbon filters over the time the hepa filter is in use.

I always have confusion regarding replacement filters for my Z-3000. I spoke the week before last with an employee but did not get her name. Truthfully, she was not very helpful and said she would speak with someone with more knowledge and e-mail me last week. I did not receive an e-mail. This was disappointing. My problem is simply this and was the basis of my question. In my Z-3000 I have been using the Du Pont Allergy and Flu Anti -Viral True HEPA Filter (SKU: AFHZ3000-AGYO1). After a while the Carbon light lit up. The instructions that accompanied the Purifier suggests that the Carbon filter be replaced every 3-4 months. The instructions then show that the carbon filters (AFH-Z3000-O1) are available in a "3-pack". I had purchased this pack previously. When I tried to figure how to use one of the loose Carbon filters it was apparent that it could not be used on the Du Pont HEPA drum. There was no way I could get it onto the drum. Then I was told that the black drum inside the DuPont HEPA filter is actually the Carbon filter. It seems when you have the DuPont HEPA filter the loose Carbon filters are useless. I would like to have someone confirm this. If correct I would like to know how to purchase the black drum separately if, in fact, it is the carbon filter. Also, if any new instructions as to how the filters are configured have been developed in the last year or so, I would appreciate knowing how to access them. One of the things that your employee mentioned is that there have been a number of calls on this same matter.

I could not be happier with this product. I live in NYC and find that they do need to be replaced a little faster than the manufacturer says, but they are constantly cleaning the air that comes thru the windows as well as the air coming through the radiator heat. These are worth EVERY penny and I'm completely satisfied with how they work. My husband and I have had less colds/sickness/allergies since we started using them in every room

Outside of price, the filter seems to work well in eliminating smoke from cooking and indoor

Appears to be an excellent product. Just expensive.

Appears to be a better set than the standard set. I know these items are proprietary but seem to be really expensive for as often as they are recommended to be changed. So I will see how well it works compared to the regular set.

I would not buy again, replacement bulbs unavailable.

When I spend the money on a nice unit like this, I do not expect the mfg to be two months out on a replacement bulb, and be unable to offer a non oem substitute, or recommendation.
