An excellent piece of machinery. From a design point of view, a pleasure to look at. From a functionality point of view a pleasure to use. There is a wonderful tactility to turning the knobs and lever. And the ordering process from Nisbitts was flawless

If a toaster can be "adorable," the Dualit NewGen model is just that. Tiny, cute, and, at the same time, beautiful, it would be an asset to any style kitchen. It has extra features such as the ability to thaw frozen bread and toast bagels and is very easy to use. The "lavender" color turned out to be an almost exact match to my KitchenAid Cobalt Blue stand mixer. I couldn't be more pleased.

Just what I wanted

We bought this to replace an identical Dualit toaster that lasted for 8 years, and it looks every bit as sturdy and long-lasting as our previous toaster. It is expensive but the cost averaged out over the years makes it well worth it. Delivery was prompt. Also, the price on the Dyas website was some £20 less than on other websites selling the same toaster.

This is an outstanding and attractive product offered at a very keen price, as I was once tols in a department store, that Dualit toasters were the Rolls Royce of toasters. I wanted to send one to Germany as a present, but Dualit said it was against the law to send one to here without a UK plug. The alternative was to buy a UK specified one and post it to Germa, which cost an extra 67.95 with DHL to send to Germany. Dualt in Germany are about twice the UK price so there was no benefit in buying it on amazon.de.. Please post this in my review of the product, or tell me how I can exprress my views.

Had it for a couple of months now so feel its ok to review. I love it, its heavier and chunkier than the Chinese made toaster and definitely made to last will probably see me out One question is why does the dial for temperature go so high Anything past 2.5 will find your toast cremated. Another thing to keep in mind the second slices of toast will toast faster than the first because the toaster is now up to speed and not warming up. That said I love the standard of toasting it achieves and if you are not quite ready its nice to know you leave it in the toaster to keep it warm.

I bought this toaster at the end of January 2018. Since the beginning October 2018 the switch has intermittently been sticking, burning the toast.i.e after only 8 months It is now sticking every time rendering the toaster useless. Looking on their website they say if the switch is sticking so they know this is a problem you need to buy a replacement switch and have it fitted by a qualified electrician Im really disappointed that that I have spent 146 on a toaster that has lasted only a few months. I really want to support British brands though I expect them to be reliable. My replacement will be another brand with a warranty.

Got fed up with throwing toasters away when the spring mechanism goes.Tried to get the last one repaired, but the bloke in the shop almost laughed at me.He suggested buying a Dualit, because if anything goes wrong with it he CAN repair it.So, three Murphy Richards toasters to the recycling centre in just over 2 years, I took the plunge and splashed out on this.Its greatHeavy and well made. Easy to use with no twiddly bits.It has a one slice or two slice setting so that is saving me money straight off.The lifting bar it doesnt pop up lets you lift the toast to check how its doing, so you can take it out when it is perfect for you. The timer is wait for it clockworkI usually set mine to level 2.It stops cooking when the level timer stops.Its easier to use than to write about it.I have seen these things in hotels before and always wondered what made them so special, and now I know.Apparently I am now trendy it seemsAll I know is, I get perfect toast, and I will be taking this one to the repair shop if it breaks down, and not to the recycling centre.

My ex husband got custody of my last Dualit toaster that was still going strong and probably still is after years. AS I remember we only had to replace an element once. In the 10 years we have been apart I have got through 3 toasters ,all ended up in the tip as they couldnt be repaired . So I think the high price is justifiable given that the element and timer are replaceable if they fail. The operation of these toasters takes a bit of getting used to but it means you can make sure you get the toast exactly how you like it

The toaster works beautifully, with nice even colour both sides. The only exception is for thin toast, as it begins to curve slightly and some parts are therefore nearer the elements than others, but its only a slight difference. This is the best toaster Ive ever had, so I hope it lasts well and the promise of spare parts when it ages is borne out in practice. It looks robust so I hope it proves to be. The sandwich cage is good with it, and could be used to stop thin toast curling. I love the copper colour too, which blends with other things in my kitchen.

How can toast be so delicious!!!!!!!

Beautifully made, totally controllable, totally serviceable: a complete pleasure to use. Toast tastes surprisingly delicious. Worth buying the cages - it makes the best toasted sandwiches with little mess. Easy to clean the drip/crumb tray. If you like push button, automatic everything, this toaster is probably not for you. I like the "manualness" - the complete control you have in this simple process. It is surprising how good toast can be when carefully made. It is worth every penny.

Looks lovely. Works differently to other toasters the manual dial timer cannot be stopped or sped up once its turned so youll have to switch off the power when your toast is ready and just let the timer finish. Power must be on for toaster to toast but timer will still work regardless, meaning sometimes I have turned the timer on, walked away and realised its not toasted my bread because its switched off at the wall. Makes great toasted sandwiches using the separately purchased cage

Built for life

Built like a tank and looks like a piece of art. No bells and whistles - just turn the knob to the desired setting and in a short time your toast is done. Although this model doesn't have a designated bagel setting, I have had no problems toasting bagels in the normal way. Since you can control whether the right hand element is on or off, you could potentially toast only one side of your bagel in the right slot using the centre element, but I don't find that necessary. There's nothing I would change. Some very thick breads like ciabatta and rolls take a push to insert, but the lift feature makes them easy to remove.

Worth every cent.

The features on this classic British toaster may be sparse, but thats not what this toaster is all about. Beautifully built and engineered from premium materials. The elements in this toaster are the best Ive ever seen, and ultimately, thats what a toaster should be all about, not gimmickry. Also...Full repairability in the day and age is a wonderful thing. Couldnt be happier.

A Toaster for life? Best check out a Dualit Toaster then...

I wish I came across this make of Toaster (Dualit) years ago as it's a top quality sturdy and beautiful item in a timeless design. In terms of functionality, it's very simple to operate and the manual extra high lift is very useful indeed. In the past whenever a Toaster or a Kettle went bust, I simply dumped them and bought new ones. However, parts for this Dualit Toaster are easily available and replaing broken parts is not exactly rocket science. In essence therefore, unless one gets fed up with the bright easy to clean stainless steel casing, this Toaster could easily last a lifetime.

Toasted toaster

Unlike its predecessor which we have owned now for the last 26, yes, 26years( the timer mechanism seems to be suffering lack of attention to time) Our new dualit toaster has a predilection to burn the toast more often than expected, even though we try to keep an eye on its operation. So we have now reverted to our original dualit as it still appears to perform even now better than the new model in terms of providing less burnt slices of toast. Interestingly we purchased your coffee machine 6 months ago, that too failed to make coffee and was returned to the store as unfit for purpose. Seems like dualit products are losing the plot!, Your Comments on a postcard maybe?

Trendy toaster

Bought this upmarket toaster to replace previous toaster that was giving brown on one side and white on the other side of the bread. Certainly improved toast as can now make it brown all over. The release mechanism for the toast is good , but the time selector switch is needs some dexterity in order to select the exact length of time required for toasting. One needs to twist to to a marked position or a bit longer depending on bread, or if warming up the toaster.

Functional art, not just a toaster

This is a toaster to put on display. Pretentious, but fully functional and iconic. The toaster catches the eye of true label snob whilst making extraordinary toast. I bought this toaster because I have a goal to be 100% Chinese free in my purchases. This comes at a price. The toaster is hand-built in the UK by "Barry". I will pay a premium for things like this.
