I'm a contractor and I recommend this Eemax

I have installed many of these in new houses we have built, and both the costumers and I have loved them. I myself have this unit for my entire home and 6 years of high usage I've only replaced 1 element. I currently have 3 of these scheduled to be installed in different homes and am even planning on installing another for my own radiant floor heating.

This heater is great!

This heater is so much better than the previous one that I had! It is quiet and the water temperature is easily adjustable. I would definitely purchase again!

Emax Water Heaters

This is the the fourth one I have installed and all have worked very good. Just make sure you have room for the breakers in your breaker box.

I have this unit. I am in NC, in the summer months it is perfect. In the winter months it doesn’t warm the water enough for the distance it has to travel. So in the winter you have a luke warm shower at best and cannot run a sink with it or it is a cold shower. Bought it at the beginning of the summer so by the winter when we figured this out the manufacturer would not consider letting me upgrade to the next unit for the price difference. Do your homework before purchasing.

[Rewarded Review] Those receiving the product free rated it good

reading below I see that only reviewers who received the unit free gave it a good rating. We purchased one for our older farmhouse, only to find out our electrical panel wont support it per a journeyman electrician. We'd have to redo the entire panel with a new panel, increase electrical AMPS and add a huge amount of draw for the 36W unit. Electrical install alone was over $2,000, then to get a plumber to set up appropriate connections as we have pex pipe, that's an additional $1,000+ for special connections needed. We could not get a smaller unit as it would not support the water usage. Now because we had to wait to install it, Lowe's won't take it back because they no longer carry it as shelf stock. We can't find our receipt. So we are out the money for this unit and have to buy a regular water heater tank unit. If I could give a Zero rating, I would. Nothing but a headache.

Excellent Water Heater

We had this Eemax HA036240 tankless hot water heater installed in an all-electric house with 3.5 bathrooms and well water, and it has been working perfectly. We have had two showers going at the same time time and had plenty of hot water. Instead of a huge 80 gallon water tank that was kept hot all the time, we now have this compact unit that only heats water as needed. This unit requires 4-40 amp circuits and can draw 150 amps, so you need to make sure that you have enough electric capacity. Our house has 400 amp service. We love our new tankless hot water heater and I can highly recommend this Eemax unit.

[Rewarded Review] Two Years

I installed this unit just over two years ago. Install was pretty straight forward given you have some knowledge of how a breaker box works. If you don't feel comfortable, any electrician should be able to do it without breaking the bank. Plumbing hookups are as follows... Cold in, hot out...that's it! We live in central Missouri, and have no problems running the washing machine (on hot), the dish washer (also very hot), and taking a shower all at the same time, even in the dead of winter! Now for the downsides. Since running a recirculating pump would cost you a fortune (since that would cause the unit to run none stop), hot water is NOT immediate. At the faucet furthest from the heater, it takes about 30 seconds for the water to reach full temperature. The closer you are too the unit, the less the time. Also, we have tremendously hard water, and no water softener. Because of this, the small pipes in the heating unit get scale buildup. Every 3-4 months (depending on use) I have to flush the system. They sell kits for this online. The takeaway is, with a little maintenance, I've been nothing but pleased with this unit. Unlimited hot water has been a real blessing for our family!

Plenty of Hot Water

This unit has produced plenty of Hot Water when needed, the only problem I have had is the control fuse, a small glass fuse behind the control box that blew after about 2 years. I can see if you had to call an electrician to find the problem the cost may be expensive depending on the electrician. Luckily I was trained to work on such units by a Major Corporation.

[Rewarded Review] Not recommendd

I have had trouble since day one. I have had plumbers out 3 times. Some have talked to the manufacturers. The manufacturer blames the ground water temperature. He unit cycles on and off. Hot...cold...very cold...very hot...hot...repeat. All during a short shower. Hate it!

Cant even run one bathtub/shower.

I replaced an old leaking tank water heater with this unit. It has never worked as advertised since the day it was installed. We have marks on the faucet knobs where it can adequately supply hot water. If the knob is ever turned passed that mark, the water turns warm/cold. I had to have an electrician come out and install the unit because it uses DOUBLE the breakers that the 40 gallon tank heater used. Over 1000$ invested in installation and the unit. I have it turned up to 140, i live in the orange area on the climate map (very warm climate) and it still cannot supply enough hot water to run a bath or take a shower.

[Rewarded Review] Warranty 1/10th of a basic 10 yr water heater

We have had a Eemax a few years. Much was made about the 5 yr warranty in the literature and on the box.

Complete garbage

The first one I bought lasted just over a year before it completely died. I was told it was lightning, which was odd because it was the only thing was affected in the whole house. Bought another one less than a year ago and now this one is dead. After less than two years, dozens of freezing cold showers and 1400+$ later I will never buy a eamax product again.

[Rewarded Review] Non-working unit

When I received this unit it was damaged. I found some black plastic parts in the bottom of the enclosure but didn't think anything of it. The electrician pointed out that they were the supports for the control boards, which appeared to be damaged. There was no damage to the packaging, so either it's bad quality control or the unit is just fragile. I'm waiting for a replacement before I install this unit, and I'll update my review once they arrive.

[Rewarded Review] Unlimited hot water

I want to say this was one of the nicest looking tankless water heaters I have seen. I have used, in the old days, gas powered ones that were not so attractive. This is very stylish and compact. It doesn't take up that much room so getting rid of my 55 gallon water heater has given me some much needed storage space. I also like all the digital controls. The fact that it is 99.8% efficient will bring a lot of joy to my check book. With all the connections being 3/4, it made it easy to install. The instructions are very clear and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to install this unit. If your not handy with electric, you might want help. We do our own electric work, so this was easy. What an advantage this unit has over my old tank: 2 showers and 1 sink can be running at one time here in Montana when it is so cold. But, if it were warmer here, they say you can have 5 showers, and 5 sinks running at the same time. I love the efficiency of this tankless water heater.

[Rewarded Review] Happy with this heater

Although this product seems a little pricey, it exceeds the performance of our last whole house tankless heater. We have not had it long enough to comment on cost effectiveness, but we have used a whole house traditional heater for 15 yrs. hoping for considerable savings with this unit. Delivery was prompt. Installation was not difficult considering we did it ourselves. A very quiet unit that provides hot water to several areas simultaneously 3 showers and a dishwasher without heavy fluctuation. Very pleased and happy with item!

[Rewarded Review] Works good so far

I had this professionally installed due to the electric. It was installed in a lake side condo and works for our needs. I wouldn’t want to use it a large house where you might have more than one shower and dishwasher/washing machine running at the same time. Just had it installed so I can’t comment on the longevity of the unit like other people who have posted comments.

[Rewarded Review] Ample hot water

After now having used my Eemax 240-volt 36 kW 6 GPM tankless water heater for a few weeks, I am more and more favorably impressed! I might point out that we replaced TWO hot water heaters in our 22 sq. ft, 3 bath house with this one tankless appliance. We considered installing the product ourselves, and did do the minor plumbing necessary, but elected to hire the electrical work done. The electrician was very complimentary about the product and said many homeowners were opting for tankless hot water heaters. When he was finished we turned on the hot water faucets of a shower and a sink, simultaneously, full blast, and had hot water almost instantly, with great water volume. I do not know exactly what the temperature of the incoming water was, but the outdoor temperature was 16F degrees at the time. I purposely took a lengthy shower as I wanted to test the constancy of the water temperature, and I found it was just as hot at the end as at the beginning, with absolutely no hot/cold surge changes There's easy access to controls, and the temperature settings can be simply adjusted by 1 degree increments from 80-140 degrees; 120 degrees seems perfect for mine. I don't know the reason but there is more water volume than there was with the old tank heater, which makes taking a shower so much nicer!

[Rewarded Review] Tankless Electric Water Hester 240-Volt

This 240-Volt 6 GPM Tankless Water Hester Electrical will need to be installed by both an licensed electrician and either a professional plumber due to the sizes of the pipes. The unit itself is AWESOME because it can be used in house with out any problems at all. Your probability of running out of hot water with the fact it will regerate at the aye of 6 gallons per minute.

***Also, nothing but problems***

This is the first review I've ever written this is how strongly I hope you don't waste your money on this product. Ours was installed 18 months ago. Started having problems 3 months after install, no luck getting it replaced by warranty because it intermittently would work which is exactly what it still does. Takes forever to get hot water, hot water comes and goes, can't operate more than one appliance at a time. It not a cheap item to replace our we would have replaced already.
