Safavieh Norah Counter Stool

The Safavieh Norah Counter stool (ordered in Dark Taupe) itself is nice, however, the dimension description listed is incorrect. The legs of this stool are only 23 inches high. With the cushion, it is about 24 inches high. In addition, the stools had a very bad mildew odor to them. I had to return them due to the height, and obviously the intense mildew odor.

I was worried these would have issues with the legs, like others have noted. I didn’t have that issue thankfully. These aren’t the easiest to build, the tool that came with them is lame. I used my drill slowly to not warp the heads. The seat is super cushioning but flattens when sat on. Overall, I like them.

Not worth 4-5 stars!! Overall these stools look great (enough to get 3 stars), but they are not worth the price when it comes to stability and comfort. Bought 4 stools and all of them have a slight wobble that require some additional work to stabilize the legs.

The stools are beautiful. They arrived in a timely manner, in perfect condition. My husband surprised me and put them together while I was at work. They must've been pretty easy to assemble (lol). The wood is a lighter than I expected. Everything else was just as I expected.

Dimensions are misleading

Be careful ordering these if you are wanting slightly taller stools. The seat height dimension of 31.5" is not accurate. We returned two other sets of stools purchased from a local store because a seat height of 29" was just too short for our taller kitchen bar area. After much searching, we found these at 31.5" and they were on sale for almost 50% off.

Sturdy, well built, counter height stool...

I bought four Norah 27.5 in. Counter Stools in Dark Taupe by Safavieh (a fancy name for made in China). My wife and I literally searched for weeks to find a counter height stool that met our requirements. Our search included both local businesses as well as the Internet. We read many discouraging reviews that cited one problem after another with counter height bar stools. Quite by accident and with no expectation we came across this counter stool from Home Depot. It met all of our requirements but the reviews suggested a high probability of problems with the assembled product. Au contraire... I am here to say that I have just completed the assembly of four of these stools and my wife and I could not be happier with the product. The color is indeed Taupe. The finish on the wooden legs is Espresso and matches other furniture in our kitchen and living room. The seat and back padding is firm and very comfortable. The stools come with footrests and the nailhead trim adds flair to the cushioned seat and back. The assembly instructions are easy to follow. All of the parts are labeled. The product arrived without damage and the packaging was excellent with plenty of styrofoam and cardboard to protect the contents. The assembly instructions cited the time needed to assemble one stool as seven minutes! This was a gross understatement. My own experience was about 25-30 minutes per stool if you proceed carefully. The parts included a simple, small open end wrench for the bolts (you will need to provide a phillips head screwdriver). If you intend to use this tool, add considerable extra time to the assembly. I used a 12mm (the bolts are metric) socket wrench and I highly recommend it. A second best would be to obtain a 12mm box end wrench. These wrenches will speed up installing the bolts and give you more leverage when tightening them. In the reviews, several people complained that the stool legs would not line up with the bolt holes. I experienced this at first until I realized that there is only one correct way to insert the legs for proper bolt alignment. Use patience working the leg until it falls into place. The instructions save installing the stretchers for the last step. I put the stretchers in place immediately after inserting the legs and before I tightened the leg bolts. The loose legs allow enough movement to install the stretchers. Finally, pay attention to the orientation of the footrest. If installed incorrectly, the phillips head screws in the footrest will be visible at the front of the stool. Remember to keep your expectation in line with the price of this product. This is not a $500 counter stool but for the price, this is an excellent buy.

Sturdy, well built counter height stool. Color is exactly like picture. Fabric is good quality and the bottom cushion seems to be filled "puffy" so it doesn't go flat after sitting on it. I ordered two more to go around our large kitchen island in our new home. Will be used daily. VERY HAPPY!
