Non-Stick?
After seeing Granitestone pans advertised on TV I decided to order one of these for my husband who loves fried eggs for breakfast. All the other non-stick pans we have purchased have failed to deliver a non-stick product but the popularity of this product seemed genuine so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately another disappointment. We read all the “do’s & don’t’s” that accompanied the fry pan so that we could make sure to use it the right way but our eggs did not slide out of the pan the way they do in the ads. We will be returning this pan.
Quality, Durability, Preforms as Advertised
First off, I do not write reviews on things I just bought. Of course it's the newest toy. You're excited about it and it should preform well if it's new. I have had my 10" Granitestone pan for a few months now. It's used nearly every day, mainly for scrambled eggs w cheese. My tenants use it as well and you know they are not going to be as nice with it as it's owner is. Although it may be a non-stick pan, I still use a non-stick spray when using it. After several months of use, I can say it is indeed a durable pan with true and lasting non-stick characteristics. I could literally simply wipe the pan clean with a paper towel. It also displays good and even heat transfer. Even after several months of almost daily use. I do recommend the brand and I will be replacing all my cookware, as they need to be replaced, with Granitestone.
Quality Not As Advertised. Big Disappointment.
The quality is definitely not as advertised. Eggs do not glide and slide right off. No oil or butter needed? Definitely not true. And the coating that was supposed to be "10X extra longer lasting," was quite the opposite and a surprising disappointment. It scratched up and there were nicks that peeled quite easily, after only 3 weeks of casual use. And nope, I did not use metal utensils, only plastic ones (even though they claim you can indeed use metal utensils). Titanium! Granite-Stone! Diamond! Big fancy words with no true quality beneath them. By the way, this is the first frying pan that I bought that came with... are you ready.... an Arbitration Agreement! (I was looking for "first time usage" instructions but found the Arbitration Agreement instead.) It states that by using the pan, you are deemed to agree not to join a Class Action Lawsuit against them for the coating. Tells you something right there. Thank goodness this was a Walmart purchase where returns of defective products are easy and hassle-free.
I love this fry pan!
I've been using this Granitestone Stainless Steel Blue Pan for a little while now. Eggs are hard in this pan, because you are not able to flip them. I reheated some peppers, hamburger and cheese. That worked really well. You can use metal items, but not sharp items. I prefer to hand wash my pans. It was super easy to clean. You can use this pan in the oven, also. This pan is designed for cooking without oil or butter, but if you choose to use it, cook at a very low temperature. You can never use non stick sprays in this pan. I love this pan and I would recommend it.
100% recommend!
This is one of the best pans ever!! First off I love that it is not heavy and the 10 inch is perfect for 2, as well as 4 people, even more depending on what you are cooking. I, of course had to tested first by frying eggs with no oil, and Oh My... it did not stick! the emerald green non-stick aluminum is so elegant, this brand even advertises chopping veggies inside the pan and will not scratch it, but I honestly do not have the need to do that, so I would not try to do that at the moment. It is safe to use in the oven up to 500 F, and I just love when you can do this with your cookware because cleanup is much easier, and super convenient. The cooking in this pan has been wonderful, and it looks just like new after washing in the dishwasher. 100% recommend!
Great Fry Pan!
I received my Granite Stone Diamond 10" Fry Pan and was anxious to give it a try right away. It is the perfect size for many of the things I cook for two of us in our home. The first thing I noticed was how sturdy the pan is. I prefer the heavier fry
As Seen on TV Wonder Pan
First tried it without using butter scrambling an egg. It stuck, but clean up was a breeze. Scrambled an egg using butter, just like on TV, it slid around, and onto the plate. I've always used oil or butter because the Teflon pans I got. the instructions recommend it. The handle stayed cool, but I only used it maybe five minutes on medium high on the stove top. Yeah, no doubt if I left it in the oven for say twenty minutes, I would use a hot pad to grab the handle. I avoid using any metal utensils in coated pans, no matter if they claim it's scratch resistant. The only thing I hope is with butter/oil, a year from now stuff still doesn't stick, and/or clean up is still easy.
Skeptical? I sure as heck was, but it actually WORKS.
I was in the market for a non-stick 12" pan and caught a triple head-to-head review of the Red Copper, Blue Diamond and Granite Rock pans. The Granite Rock (now named Granitestone) pan won, hands down.
Not sure I will cook anything without oil but I will cook a lot with oil with this pan
First thing I noticed was while washing the new pan before I used it, is that water literally rolled off. After washing with soap, rising the soap, the paper towel I used to 'dry' the pan came back dry. There was no moisture. It was a little strange cooking with a much lower heat, but everything came out great. Watching many reviews which may have showed some eggs sticking, I realized that it appeared this was caused by trying to move the egg before it was at least partially cooked. I had no sticking with my eggs, bit fired eggs or omelets. Now I did not try this with a dry pan. I don't think I ever will. I also will likely never use metal utensils, so I can't speak to that. But I cook bacon and then pour out the grease, I do not wipe it out so some is left. This makes my omelets taste great and definitively do not stick. Now, cleanup is hard to grade since when I do wipe out the pan after cooking nothing is left. My wife thought I had already washed it. So, I go through the process of a soapy wash and a quick rinse and put it away.
Pancakes didn't stick, and knife-spatula didn't scratch.
My roommate got married and moved out this weekend, and all of the pots, pans, and dishes were hers. She took them all and I knew I'd be left with nothing, so I bought one of these while browsing for some kind of pan to at least cook some eggs in. I remembered seeing it on TV a while back, and thought it at least looked like it would be good, and it was on sale so I decided to go ahead and get it.
So far so good
Well so far so good, I've used it on medium heat and only medium heat for just over a month now and no issues.
Easy cleanup if treated properly
I love the granite rock pans! In fact, I recently purchased the 15 piece set and the 12 inch fry pan to replace the old nonstick Cooks stuff I had. I like that the pan is coated inside and out with the same stuff, so that the outside of the pan does not get cruddy with time. I would hand wash these, though, because I am fussy about anything stuck or discolored on the cookware. I did the little tiny pan in the dishwasher and the bottom discolored. Cleanup is a snap if you use a little butter with cooking things like eggs and you don’t use high heat on the pan. Just cook or fry at medium heat and nothing sticks. If there is a bit of burned stuff, it comes off with hot water and a soapy sponge. Hand washing is far much easier than my old stuff. I bought a pan for my house that I rent for the summer as an experiment. Hoping I will find the pan in good condition, as they are not as careful as I am.
Other reviews are unfairly biased by TV advertising
I got this pan from BJs on the clearance rack. I use this pan like I would use any teflon coated pan - with oil. I did not see the TV advertisement, so I have no expectations that it would be miraculous.
Very Impressed and happy
Not one to leave reviews unless the product exceeds my expectations and this one did. I have several of the advertised non stick wonder pans we all see and they work "better than nothing" However this one so far is wonderful. I gave it my best tests and it flew through all of the, First right out of box, didn't even wash it, figured gas flame would kill anything that would hurt me, Plopped two eggs in it, turned on the gas just under medium, and when they were ready I flipped them over with no sticking what so ever, moved them over to piece of bread, dropped handful of shredded cheese in pan let it melt, and took other piece of bread, pushed it on melted cheese and lifted out melted cheese. Turned off heat and went had egg and cheese sandwich.
Worth it for the durability, but a bit more sticky than Teflon
These things have been around for a while in Asia, and I bought one there some years back and have used it ever since. Bottom line, you're sacrificing a little bit of stickiness for a lot of durability and for not seasoning your food with plastic.
