A bit of a challenge the first time to assemble, but once understood it was easy. This is a well-built and strong bookcase and will handle the many books that I will be placing on it.

It looks more expensive than it is, and my husband had no problem putting it together. I will defend be purchasing more in the near future. Highly recommend, just make sure you've read all the reviews about the flimsy back.

Oak Bookcase

The color of the Concepts in Wood sigle bookcase is good and the oak pattern nice to view. The finish is rough though. I am thinking about sanding down and restraining and sealing.

Looks great and easy to assemble. Only flaw is the back board which is simply 3 separate pieces scotch taped together. Makes it flimsy and shows the seam from the finished front side.

I dinged a star because there's a manufacturing defect on the side. The veneer had a crack from the factory and should have been caught as a factory defect. It was not a shipping defect.

The product would have received a higher rating if there had been pre-drilled pilot holes for the top and bottom front support plates. With the size, weight and bulk of that bookcase there was no easy way for an older person to assemble those two parts correctly. Too much time spent and one part moved slightly since there were no pilot holes to force correct alignment of those two piece. Other than that, the finished item appears to be good quality. The low grade on the shipping is because we paid for two units, but only one unit was shipped to us. Now, after assembling the first unit, we no longer wish to receive the second unit, so please refund the amount of the 2nd, non-delivered unit. We will order from Houzz again, as we think the over-all product was well worth the money. Thank you.

Beautiful book case

Beautiful solid wood book case that is great piece of furniture. It replaced a smaller case in my living room. It has space for many more books!

To heavy a bookcase unless you are very strong

This is way too heavy, I am not keeping it because I would have a veery hard time moving it around after I put it together.

Backing could be higher quality

We bought three of these for our house and are generally pleased, but one of them came with some damage (not from shipping, so poor QC) and the material used for the backing is very cheap and does not align well with the shelf. Otherwise, they appear to be good shelves.

Needs better instructions

This is a very sturdy Bookcase. It looks great once assembled. However, the assembly instructions are insufficient and difficult to understand. Much improvement is needed here.

Great price and appearance, styrofoam mess

Lots of styrofoam clean up, otherwise solid product. Tallest and most stable shelves for the price.

Good shelves; nonexistent customer service

Shelves are sturdy, but no way to contact manufacturer. These shelves came with instrucitons that say "If you need assistance, DO NOT CALL THE STORE, call us. Our Customer Service Group is here to help you." I have called the customer service number at least ten times. I always wait to talk to an associate for a few minutes and then get the message that they are not available, but to leave a message. I've left a message every time with my number and name and have never heard back. I've also tried contacting the email address, but never get a reply.

Very Pleased in FL

I ordered one bookshelf in the cherry finish. It was shipped from California and arrived in Florida safe and sound. I am pleased with the quality. All the parts fit together well and I had no problem assembling it. Tip: with the middle fixed-shelf, it helps to have either a bar clamp like a woodworker uses or to have a friend help you hold it in position during the assembly, as you tighten the top and bottom cams..
