Cheap

The overall appearance is nice. The problem was as we put it all together when nailing in the backboard if you miss where the nail goes it come through the front. since it's so cheaply made it breaks the wood and cracks off the fake wood overlay. We now have a decent looking hall tree with 3 cracks in the back of the seat on each side.

My Compliments To The Chef

The instructions were the best I’ve seen for assembly furniture. Each pre-drill was perfect, and the final fit was straight and tight at corners and seams. I used a drill on low power for screws to save time but did the final tightening by hand as to not crack the particle board. A screwdriver will do just fine, there aren’t many screws. It took me 45 minutes to assemble. It weighs 70lbs, but wife and I handled it no problem. Both our shoes fit in the cubbies, mine are snug, but they fit.

I love the hall trees but there are some issues. For starters, while the packaging is good…. The packing materials “bled” onto the white pieces of the unit. Also, some of the packing materials had rubbed off onto these white pieces and either will not come off or was difficult to get off.

Does the trick

The pieces were not labeled at all so had to label things myself to keep track. It wasn't hard to put together and I was able to do it myself. Instructions got a bit confusing as I put a piece in backwards and couldn't remove it, but it didn't really mess up the piece. Have to be careful it's not the sturdiest material so I put a tiny hole in it hammering in the nails. I was able to fit two shoes in each slot, but they are small (I wear a size 10 in women's). Not sure if you could fit two shoes for a man that wears large size shoes. Overall I like this purchase and I finally got all the shoes away from my front door

Great overall hallway tree

We are enjoying the use of this hallway tree. It's very sturdy and the material is well weighted, and manufactured in Canada so you're supporting local.

I would recommend this item but under certain conditions. That you have the general knowledge of putting an item like this together. The directions are horrible but decipherable. The problem with the directions and the parts of this coat rack is that none of the parts are marked so you kind of have to guess what is what. As for the directions, they don't really tell you which end of the part is top and bottom so you can put a couple pieces in backwards and then have to take it apart. The shelf is being replaced for free but that means I have to take some of it apart to replace it. My largest problem on this is the size of the shoe compartments, they are WAY TOO SMALL. I wear a size 10 average sneaker and I can verily get one show in each spot. So larger shoe or any kind of boot is out of the question. Maybe it is meant for children's shoes to help organize them. I can put a couple of my wife's shoes in a spot together but not all.

I can't give anything made out of MDF a rating higher than 4. The stuff is nowhere near as good as plywood or wooden boards. Assembly was relatively quick and simple. I work slowly, so it took me a couple of hours. The product looks nice and can take my 240 pounds when I sit on it. However, the fiber board back is about 1/2 narrower than the tree which makes putting in the provided nails difficult. MDF is very unforgiving if one puts a nail in too close to the edge, which, in spite of my best efforts, happened a few times. A few nails broke through the sides, which makes a mess of the thin printed finish. I bought two of these and plan to try 1/2 inch staples on the next one. There are actually two backboards. They meet at the seat, which means there is very little room to nail the edges of the two boards where they meet. The front bottom piece look like it could break easily if someone were to kick it, which is probable. To prevent that from happening, I glued a piece of wood behind it to reinforce it. Of the two that I ordered, one arrived with a damaged piece. I reported it to the company and the send me a new piece without any trouble.
