Reliably keeps my 100 gallon tank open for horses

In Northern Minnesota these heaters are put to the test in brutally cold conditions well below zero, and they perform well. I always have an extra heater on hand as nothing works forever in our extremely hard water.

Best tank heater

For the metal tank we have, this one is the most reliable one to have for our horses. We always have one extra for backup. Works in the northern Minnesota winters.

Wonderful

I love this tank heater for my horses. I've had to buy only one other one in nearly ten years. Works in all sorts of cold weather and doesn't damage the plastic troughs at all.

Functional but problematic.

The anti-bite ring wrapped around the power cord rusted the first day. We had to cut it off so we could keep using it for our chicken waterer.

Needed upgrade

I upgraded my birdbath heater that was 250W to this one that’s 500W. Haven’t had too many freezing nights yet but they are coming. This has worked so far. This one is supposed to work on extension cords, which its plugged into, and is working fine. I hope to get more than a year out of this. The 250W ones just wouldn’t last a season. Here’s hoping!

Broke and froze 200 dollar system! DO NOT BUY

This item does not work properly. Spent hundreds on automated watering system only to have it break first thing. We followed all instructions and it caused everything to freeze and crack. Contacted seller, and all I received was a “sorry it’s past the 30 days” we bought in the fall, so we would be ready for winter. Say what you want about Amazon, at least the company will still refund after the 30 days if the situation makes sense. Walmart wouldn’t provide a refund either.

PERFECT DE-ICER

This is the only de-icer that worked!! We are having colder winters in South Texas and the other trough heaters and de-icers were not working on this particular trough that sits in the North wind. Highly recommend.

Helps me sleep peacefully cold Northern MN nights

Keeping my stock tank open at 30 degrees below zero F. without a worry. I always keep an extra heater on hand in case one should eventually fail. One challenge is trying to prevent a build up of minerals on the unit as we have "hard" well water as the horse trough water source. Great product for 100 gallon stock tank.

Ice chaser de-icer

This product works great. Got it in the afternoon just before the temperature plummeted to -24. Next morning trough was wide open.

AWESOME heater!

This heater is the best I have ever owned. It keeps my 50 gallon water tank from freezing. It’s commercial quality with a nice long cord protected by a metal spring around it.

It keeps all ice out of my very large stock tank and my cattle draw a lot of water all winter long the last one I had lasted 6 years and the one before that lasted 7 years and all are the same no matter how cold it gets theres no ice in that tank !!

Stock tank de-icers

I have had a couple of these in the past and, when they became unavailable in my area, I had to try the cheaper wire versions. This stock tank de-icer is far superior to those which may last one or two seasons. It is well worth the money.

I have had several floating tank heater heaters. They work ok but may be a problem floating if they sometimes melt the plastic or the float material. This underwater heater works great, staying in place. I have covered my tanks in the past since I only have a few horses, leaving an opening for them to drink from. The heater is placed on a concrete block directly below the opening. Works great and I expect a longer life of the heater. 200 gallon tank.

Great tank heater!

Very pleased with these heaters! Have 4 - 100 gallon stock tank for cows and donkeys and 1 goat. No frozen water and all the animals are happy! Highly recommend!

they used to be very good

I've used these for years, replacing them as they wore out, which was with pretty low frequency. However, the ones I have purchased in the last two years seem to have one of two issues--either they never work straight out of the box, though they are great about sending a replacement (direct from the manufacturer). Or, worse, in my opinion, they work very well at first and at some point the thermostat fails, resulting in ruined stock tanks. Two ruined 50 gallon Rubbermaid stock tanks later I am reluctantly trying out other de-icers. Too bad, I really liked the sturdy design of this one.

Won’t buy any other brand!

Love these heaters. Never had a problem with them and mine are lasting many years. Won’t buy any other kind. Worth the price tag!

Danger Warning!!

I purchased this de-icer 2 years ago from a different retail store. It worked amazingly well even in - 45-degree temperatures. This year it started to leak current into the water, shocking the horses who then refused to drink. Placing my hand into the water gave me no indication of a problem but a current tester showed the presence of a leaking electrical charge that the horses, grounded in the snow definitely felt.
