Runs Slightly large and Doesn't Fit
I cannot comment of how well the filter works but wanted to comment on the Fit. I purchased the 1085 Allergen Defense Air Filter in 14x14x1 , 14x30x1 and 20x30x1 sizes. None of them fit. I was able to squeeze the 14x14 sized filter by slightly bending one side but has to bend much more of the larger filters to force the fit. I previously had the basic Filtrete filters in the same sizes and they fit with no problem but I wanted to upgrade my filter. Unfortunately, the upgrades version is just slightly larger despite being the same sizes. I will return this product and either have to go with the basic filter or find a higher quality filter by a different brand .
Prepare to be Amazed!
I purchased this filter a few days ago. Before installing this filter, my husband was sneezing very often everyday. We were so amazed the first day, he did not sneeze at all; everyday since, it has been the same. I know a person would have a hard time believing it could work so well and so fast, but it is absolutely true. Thank you for making such a wonderfully made product.
Excellent filters
Been buying these for several years now, 1085 or 1085D, and wouldn't go elsewhere. We change every 4 months and they're catching everything we need them to.
Great value for the money!
This does exactly what is says it will do. With all the wildfire smoke, I was worried but this did a great job. The 1085 can not be beat for the price. I don't have severe allergies or asthma so I can't say how it does against those.
Great Disposable Filters
Been using the 20x25x4 for multiple years now. Filters work great, I replace mine every 90 days in my house. Never had any issues or concerns about quality or construction of the filters.
Beware of the size!
Bought this filter (1085) from Lowes for years and about a year ago they changed the manufacturing. This filter is NOT 1" but 13/16" and now is loose in the filter bracket on the unit allowing air to go past the filter defeating the purpose of a filter. Funny how the more expensive (1200) filter is still manufactured the same way and fits perfectly. Beware!
Allergen Defense Air filter does not fit !!!
I was using Filtrette Clean Living filters for years and was happy with its performance. Having read about the higher filtration levels of Allergen Defense, I decided to order this one for my 20X25X1 opening of my AC unit. To my surprise I was not able to fit it into the hole into which the Clean Living filter entered easily. The Allergen Defense is taller than Clean Living filter of the same posted sizes 20X25X1. Please advise what could be done. Thanks!
[Rewarded Review] Choice of MERV ratings and size
Nominal size of HVAC filters is a problem for some users. The problem is made worse by the lack of standardization in return air grille sizes. For example, filter manufacturers print 18"X18" on a filter, but the nominal size can make it impossible to use them in a return air grille, if the builder bought cheap odd-size grilles. For the past two decades, I have had no problem with the Filtrete size in my house. Not true for other filters I tried. I have a large return air grille that I have to tape two 18X18 together to use. 18X36 is not a common size to find and I do not think Filtrete makes this size (with 18X24 the largest I could find). Once I bought another big-name brand. After taping the two together, the length of the filter was too short.
[Rewarded Review] Air quality
As soon as I changed my air filter within 30 minutes I felt colder air and breathing was improved. I have a dog and a cat so I need a good filter. For the price point and quality I will never use another brand. Plus I prefer pleated air filters which is what these are. Sam's Club sells a 4pk in multiple sizes for under $40 dollars. Always make sure you have good air filters to change when needed or a costly ac repair will reassure you of it. This is the best air filter for the money.
[Rewarded Review] Helps keep the grime at bay...
Living in the Central Valley translates into gross and dirty air 355 days a year. Between what is pushed in from all four surrounding areas of the state as well as all of our own pollution and allergens from the crops and farms, we need good quality air filters.
[Rewarded Review] I will not use anything else.
This filter does everything it says it will do.
[Rewarded Review] An excellent particulate filter
A very high (but not the highest ) reduction in airborne particulates Is removed from the circulated air (of course they are only as good as your ductwork is, but all thing being equal...) using this 1000 grade filter. Still a very expensive item to have to swap out every 3 to 4 months, and can easily run you $100’s of dollars per year just in filters, but if you can’t afford the level even higher, the 1,900, this level the 1,000 is a good choice. As I said it depends on just how fanatical you are about dust mites and other allergens that may be airborne, and certainly dust mites ARE THERE!!! Now at $25 per filter, it’s a better choice price wise for the cost consumers out there, but it won’t do as good as a job as the more expensive unit, but you could just swap them out every 2 months instead of 3 to 4 months, but then your costs go up that way, so stay at a quarterky change and have the furnace and ducts done at least every other year and I your particulate matter will be contained.
[Rewarded Review] Best Filters Ever!
I have been using these filters for several years. I have tried cheaper competitors but still dosen't compare. We purchased a new system 2 years ago to upgrade our old dated unit in our home, the Hvac company stated it came with a cheap very sheer filter but did not recommend and other filters than what came with unit. I immediately purchased a 3M pleated allergen filter and the dust level stopped showing around the house.
[Rewarded Review] Breathe cleaner air and protect your furnace
We've used Filtrete filters for many, many years. Our 1991 90% efficient furnace is still happy and running strong thanks to these great filters which protect it. We run the furnace November thru May. We use the Allergen Defense Filter 1000 for Nov thru December, and then in the following hi-pollen months, we use the Filtrete Healthy Living Filter 1500. These filters are well-made and easy to insert. Our air feels healthier and our allergies (and our dog's) are kept in check.
[Rewarded Review] Best Allergen Air Filter worth the money
Have tried many other air filters but keep going back to this one. It outperforms all others I have tried. The service company that services our furnace offers discount filters but after trying them and having to replace them every month, we actually saved money by purchasing the Filtrete which lasts 3 months. My husband and I both suffer from seasonal allergies so having a quality air filter in our home is very important to us. You will not be disappointed in this filter.
Filtrete 1085D Filters
I have been using the Basic filters my husband provided for our furnace. I went to get some more filters three months ago and discovered the above-noted filters. Since I have asthma, I tried these. The 1085D filters work great! They cleaned so much more gunk out of the air. I definitely recommend these. Thank you.
[Rewarded Review] Best air filter for my application
I live in a highly energy efficient house with an Mini-Split HVAC system. I use the filter for my air intake /make-up air opening in the ceiling. The Filtrete filter is the only one I have found that accurately fits the duct opening. Other makes I have tried are slightly smaller than the stated 12 x 12 size which means they allow unfiltered air to enter the house through the gaps around the filter. An additional annoyance is that the filter falls out of the opening when I open the hinged cover.
About 2 or 3 mm too wide for the slot
Size 20x20x1
[Rewarded Review] 2x Benefits says pkg = double the disappoinment
In 17 days my 3yr old Bryant Evo. A/C alerts for filter change, the shortest of any filter I ever used in my air conditioned home of 26yrs. The caked dust/debris is evident as usual but the half life is upsetting. I have CVID causing major immune/allergy sensitivities and really can't afford to pay for 20+ filter replacements yearly from a brand Ive trusted to do as they advertise and last for my money spent. I can only hope the next purchase of filtrete filters will be closer to my brand expectations . Thanks
[Rewarded Review] Made a HUGE Difference for my Small Apartment
I have a teeny modern apartment 1st floor apartment that faces a courtyard & my dog loves for me to leave the patio door cracked while she sunbathes & switching from the cheap filters maintenance provides to this was instantly noticeable! My floors floors stayed cleaner longer, I didn’t have to dust things like the TV stand or blinds 3 times a week anymore, and I no longer noticed that outside/dog smell when I came in from work & the air had been turned up a bit that day! Definitely will recommend friends and continue to use these filters going forward!!
