Great lightweight tent that always delivers.
I’m very happy with this tent. I’ve used it in Lithgow and Rydal (Autumn 3C-10C, rain), Abercrombie National Park (Summer, heat, humidity) and Kozi National Park (Autumn, -3C) .
Ticks all the boxes!
I couldn't go past this tent when looking for a lightweight bikepacking and hiking tent. It matches all the specs of other much more expensive ones and at 1.4kg, it sold me. I have the 2 person version which over the years has protected me from frost, galeforce winds, heavy rain and more. The material is tough compared to other tents so a footprint is not necessarily needed. Super easy to set up and pack down. Durable, lightweight and versatile.
Just purchased and used on an overnight hike here in Victoria near Warburton. It rained constantly all night...huge downpours. I have to say I was very impressed with this tent. Not one leak and barely any condensation. It may be too small for some. I'm only 5.3 however and found I had more then enough space. I had to keep my pack in with me due to leeches ( they were everywhere) and I still fitted comfortably. I used my favorite lighter pegs as ones with tent quite heavy but probably on tent platform I would have been better off with supplied pegs. Shame no pole bag supplied. I never pack poles in with tent so a bag always handy. I just used bag from my 2 man tent. However no big deal as I love this tent. Highly recommend for the price.
Solid little tent
Easy to set up, relatively light, and most importantly, protects against the elements. Minutes after I first set it up, I was hit with a thunderstorm and dove in. The tent pad flooded and I was watching the water rise under the vestibule. I was sure I was going to be soaked but the high bathtub walls kept things dry.
Tested
Im 5ft10 and cannot really sit straight comfortably, it'd be perfect for someone smaller, other than that, tent looks well built and i think it will last a while.
[Rewarded Review] Overlooked, underrated little tent.
Took this out for the first time recently on a 2 night trip through the Grayson Highlands in Virginia.
Perfect 1P backpacking tent
Don't get me wrong this isn't the lightest tent. Nor does it offer the luxury of being able to sit straight up in or stretch out. For the price point this is more than enough for the average weekend warrior. I set it up in my basement as it's still winter here. The main vestibule offers some space to store my 48 liter pack. The back vestibule is quite small and doesn't have a door so it doesn't work for storage but offers ventilation. Ground sheet to be purchased separately. But I digress, I originally purchased a Nemo Aurora 2P for solos. It has much more room and I'm able to sit up in it and it will comfortably fit two people. However, this tent saves me 2 pounds and rakes up way less space. Wpuld recommend this product!
Good Tent for the Price
Not as light as some of it's thru-hike competitors, but at least for me, it was quite a lot lighter than what I had been using at a price point I could justify for the 1-2 longer hikes I take each year. (I usually aim for 5-6 days on trail.)
Smaller and heaver than expected 3lb12oz
So I'm not a huge dude, 6' on a good day and 200 lbs. This tent idoes fit my sea to summit wide mat. (They're cadillac sleeping pads by the way. Super comfy.) When I set up the tent at home and laid inside of it, both my feet and head touched the tent. It's very claustrophobic in there. I don't know if it is designed so that you sleep directly on the ground without a sleeping pad but with my sleeping pad, it raises me slightly higher and shrinks the tent's area significantly.
Very decent tent for the price
I'm a backcountry canoe tripper and I purchased the 3-man tent for several excursions this summer. I've now slept in it for 17 nights through all kinds of weather including a few severe thunderstorms where I was SURE it would leak and it remained bone dry. Unfortunately you have to buy the bottom footprint separately (which cost me an additional $85 CAD) but I feel it's worth it because it's a solid brand name and you'll have this tent for quite some time. I was also sure to add a lightweight tarp/groundsheet on the inside when I used it. It takes mere minutes to put up and take down, and the stuff sack allows for some play after you roll it which makes it quite easy. The ONLY downside to this tent is you have to be gentle with the zippers on the fly or they will snag the overhanging fabric on the outside. You have to hold it from the bottom like a jacket and do it slowly once you are inside. Also, it's comfortable for 2 people but there's no WAY you're getting in a 3rd.
Cozy, comfy, easy to use
Popped up in moments. The red tags on corresponding corners of the tent and fly = brilliant. (No turning the fly this way and that to figure out how it fits, just match the red corners.) It's on the smaller side, obviously - I am a 5' 7" woman and was very comfortable. One of my companions (larger than me) commented that the tent looked claustrophobic, but I found it cozy. I could sit up in the middle without hitting the ceiling (I do have a fairly thick mattress so that added to my sitting height). We had a wind storm our second night with 22 - 25 MPH winds and gusts to 30 MPH. This tent didn't budge. The pockets at the foot and head are large enough for watch, phone, socks, hat. Zippers are smooth, tie backs are elasticized for ease of use. Packs up small and is very lightweight. Also very cute.
[Rewarded Review] Weather tight!
I purchased this tent for a 5 day backpacking trip in the SC/GA mountains. Hurricane Delta decided to catch up with us on the second day producing massive amounts of rain for the remainder of the trip. The North Face Storm Break 1 never leaked once nor did I have any condensation. A few nights the tent was “floating” in water without the floor leaking. The tent was smaller than I expected, even for a 1 man tent. I’m 5’-11” and I touched both ends at head and foot. The head wall Mesh bagged enough to touch my forehead even after I adjusted the tension several times. Overall the tent performed well in less than desirable conditions so I’m happy with it. Just wish it were a tad bit larger.
[Rewarded Review] Quallity in all aspects
I'll walk through my experience with this tent a step at a time.
Love this tent!
This tent may not be the absolute lightest, but it sure is the lightest for the price! While Ozark trail has one that's about 5 oz lighter, it's $20 more and doesn't have the fabulous interior pockets.
