Reviews
I regret making this purchase.
Do not buy. While it seems aethetically pleasing throug the online images, it is very flimsy. Extremely annoying to assemble, wood splintered everywhere, and the front left base foot is precariously able to keep this thing standing which concerns me safety wise. Also does not even function as a bookshelf as all the shelves are half an inch smaller than my standard sized books and textbooks from various sets. Considering tossing it but the amount I spent on it is preventing me from doing so... yet. Avoid.
Beautiful shelf, but same issue as other reviewer
This is a beautiful shelf for the price point and we're grateful. However we ran into the same issue as the other reviewer when we tried to move the shelf a tiny bit to the left so that we could reach an electrical socket behind it. The bottom shelf (i. e. , the load bearing shelf) started making cracking noises and gave out as we were shifting. I think this would be solved if the bottom shelf were solid wood. The rest of the shelf being particle board isn't an issue at all, it's just the bottom section that has screws in it that seems to be a liability. Sauder, possible to make a solid wood bottom section so that this doesn't happen to others?
Recommend
Easy to put together but is very heavy and requires two people to move. It’s really nice and has a lot of space. Arrived on time and package was not damaged. Love the sliding doors at the bottom!! Very mid century
Poor quality and unstable. Not sturdy at all. I would not recommend this piece of furniture at all.
Looks great, matches my desk
I bought this bookcase to go with the desk I also purchased at Office Depot. The book case had a damaged shelf (probably from shipping) and 2 missing pieces, but when I notified the Sauder company, they replaced them no questions back and got the parts within a week. Both companies were very helpful and I would purchase from them again.
Decent shelf but poor construction
The shelf looks nice but is made cheaply. The paint on the side of the shelf was chipped when it was shipped to me and we did not realize this until it was assembled
Once it is put together it is fabulous
I use this in my dining/kitchen area. The sliding doors make hiding extra appliances a dream.Pros:Beautiful when finishedSliding doors are amazingDoes not look like composite wood junkCons:Required enormous space to assembleHas 3 prefixed shelvesHas very poor guides for applying the back piece which could result in miss-nailing
Lovely pieces. High quality
We bought this tall shelf unit, the low credenza, and the small end table unit for my office. LOVE IT! They are super high quality (heavy boxes!) and look way more expensive than what we paid. Beautiful look. My husband put all three together (cussing at me a bit for the time it took. But it took more than the usual build-it pieces because it was designed to be strong and lasting. The end result is well worth it.
This bookcase looks really nice in person - not cheap printed veneer. It feels very solid. Not too complicated to put together, but does take a while if you follow their recommendation of not using power tools. It did come with a few very minor dings on the edges but nothing major.
Love this bookcase!
Love it! It fits my office space perfectly. The quality vs cost was such a deal. Would definitely buy again.
Looks nice, bad value
My experience only. I believe that the esign does not consider the materials used. Basically makes bolts into the ends of a particle board a load bearing connection for the whole piece. The bolts into the bottom board piece failed for me and the board began to split/crumble. Looks beautiful and I wish that I could continue to use the piece.
Great Size and Shape, Poor Materials
I absolutely love the size and shape of this piece, however it is made from very cheap particleboard and paper veneer. It was easy to assemble and the doors work great, however it uses the cam bolt system and I couldn't get one of the cams to fully lock on the one of the legs but it seems to be holding together. The backing piece is straight up stiff cardboard with paper veneer! I have had it about a month and when dusting it last weekend a piece of the veneer chipped off the edge of one of the shelves. It was a good price, and is exactly the style I wanted to hold our record player and speakers; so it will do for now.
Really nice mid-century-style bookshelf!
Looks great in my roomEasy to put together, no missing partsWell-constructed, good qualityDoors work very wellArrived in a timely mannerGood customer serviceRecommended!
