Do not buy "paintable" shutters

Unless you love to paint, repaint, and have a curing room, do not buy these shutters. Paint will peel off these vinyl shutters with the lightest touch even if it looks and should be dry, even though I used top of the line latex paint. Also buried in the instructions was a surprising tid bit...once you do get paint to stick, they have to cure for 7-14 days! With 4 windows, I've got 8 shutters stored in the house. This should have been a weekend project and it'll be going on for at least another 2 weeks before I know if I can even use these things. I am very disappointed in both Lowes and Alpha Systems.

Easy and Durable

These shutters are easy and durable. I purchase them very often as I am a spec builder and build craftsman style homes. These shutters look nice, take about 5 minutes to install and the fastners are completely hidden by the cross member that clicks on after you screw to the wall. They are also easy to change out and do pretty well in the heat of Phoenix as long as the screws arent too tight and the shutters have room to expand and contract. Make them too tight and they will bow and bend in the heat.

Looked like the color online. Easy install but instructions not clear between when to use screws or to use pegs. Screw head caps didnt snap over as intented to guard from elements and didn't fit slotted holes well. Plenty of extra parts though. Made wi dows look good.

These are AWESOME! We couldn't decide between wood shutters and these. We finally decided to go for it on these, and we couldn't be happier. And they will hold up for a long time for sure. No repainting needed. YAY! We are thrilled!

More Secure

The previous shutters that were put on all the houses in my neighborhood were very cheap and the slightest wind would blow them off the house. Previous shutters only had 2 fasteners. These shutters, although still vinyl. have a much better appearance and have 4 fasteners for a more secure attachment. Several of my neighbors have already commented on them.

[Rewarded Review] Great Product, Be Aware the Panels may Bow

The panels are super easy to install, and the mounting hardware was included. The panels were installed on a wood frame house. The mounting surface was not completely flat, the panels wanted to bow. The panels need to be manufactured much sturdier, so they do not flex. The three cross sections will not secure tightly into place if the panels are bowed in any way. Otherwise, they look great on the house.

The perfect fit! Just what we needed to dress up around the door wall on our back patio area. The siding on our house has seen better days so we were looking for a quick and inexpensive way to try to make it look a little better until we can do the “major” updates. This fits the bill! Please note, shipping took quite a while. I’m not sure if it’s because we ordered the larger size (81”) or not, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re in a hurry to get these shutters.

Joined not Joined

The word joined in the description is deceiving. The "boards were joined (molded together) only at the top and bottom about 5 inches.

Paintable - yes. Was I worried when I opened the box that the paint wouldn’t adhere…yes it seemed still very plastic! No difference to the touch.

Bought just 1 pair

Searched the internet for the exact size we needed and AD was the only place that didn’t list them as being a 2-3 month wait and unlike other places, (Home Depot, Lowes, Amazon etc..) they were very reasonably priced. I ordered with about a 1 month lead time and was happy to receive them within a few weeks. Arrived unscathed and were easy to paint and install. Only 1 set was needed on my house so my experience may be different compared to large orders. Definitely recommend!

Great product, great price, great results

Wanted to dress up a modular home that we own as a weekend getaway and these shutters did just the trick. Super easy to install and I appreciated that they are designed so that you can shift them up or down to ensure that all of the shutter panels are even with each other before a final tightening of the screws. As for the screws, I used shorter screws that I already had rather than the long ones that were provided as the shutters are lightweight and the long screws seemed like overkill I think the shutters look great and you can't beat the price! You'll notice that I covered an end window with what appears to be closed shutters and that's because this particular window did not have sufficient space to install the left-sided shutter panel and this same window had multiple cracks in it and a broom closet is on the other side. You can see that the "closed" shutters fit perfectly! Not sure the reason, but when I attached the photos there is a white line cutting across each photo. Hopefully that isn't there when you look at them, but you should still get a good idea of the before and after. even with the line.

Our old cedar board and batten shutters needed restaining & had been damaged by woodpeckers. We decided to opt for low maintenance vinyl shutters as replacements for five windows. The 16” x 81” tall shutters are nearly a perfect fit for our windows. We ordered 16” x 36” for the smaller window, choosing to have a bit longer length to balance with the window box. The Chocolate is a dark neutral brown, with no hint of red. There is a sliver of space between the “boards” which will make it easier to use nails to hang wreathes at Christmas. My husband was able to hang the shutters with just a drill, I helped hold the shutter as he screwed them into the siding. The battens cover the screws. We’ve had these shutters about five months, through a hot summer, and they have not warped or faded.

[Rewarded Review] Great shutters

I bought these shutters to replace old faded panel style shutters on my house. I went with these to make my house stand out from the rest in the neighborhood that all have panel style. I couldn’t be happier. I found them very easy to install but I will recommend that you attach it at the top bottom and middle of the shutter when attaching to you home. If not the center of the shutter feels loose and flimsy. It comes with predrilled slots on the top and bottom of the shutter making installation a breeze. Overall look and feel is great but I feel they were a little pricey. The cross bars are snug when attaching and maybe hard to get off once on so take your time before you put them on if you need to make any adjustments. I would recommend these to anyone looking for an easy update for their home.
