Not what I thought it was going to be. For the cost but high considering still have to buy everything else.

The plastic frames are flimsy

It was very difficult to get the Enough to install this if you have more than one segment of long boards, the seams look odd because they all lineup at the exact same spot

Unfortunately I have to say that I think this product could have been made better. We have had problems with the planks not locking into the clips. I am going to have to disassemble the whole thing and try to make the underlaying ground flatter . Kind of a pita

Love the idea and look, but with 2 boxes did not provide a large deck area . For me to get the space area I need would be cheaper to purchase pressure treated wood.

A Do It Your Selfer Dream Deck!

I researched building a deck for several months before I discovered Barrette's Inst-Deck Flooring System. You can see from the pictures that my concrete patio is nasty and my patio door is about 6" from the ground. I was going to use 2X4's and they would have surely rotted over time. The hard plastic base from Barrette's is perfect. The come in 2X2' squares even though it's listed as 4X4's so it's much more a flexible system. My patio is 10X1' and I laid two 1X1' pavers to take advantage of the 12' length. There are four holes in each 2X2' base for spikes or anchors. I used Tapcon 5/16 2 1/4 length which was recommended. I put 2 in each section and ended up with 60 anchors which is crazy but extremely sturdy. The decking itself is excellent and the boarder around the deck itself was difficult to install but really makes a big difference in the appearance. The 2X2 sections literally snap together and the boards are easy to snap in place. Warrantied for 20 years, longer than I'll be around. Highly recommend! [Rewarded Review] Quick and easy small deck.

This kit is not only easy to assemble but also quick to set up. The more level the ground is the easier it will be to build this deck. If the ground is not flat you will need to create a fairly level base for the deck. Once the ground work is done the base just snaps together. The deck boards are very attractive in a walnut color scheme. We used this decking material outside for 2 chairs and a small table.

This product takes more work to assemble and use than advertised. I had to use a clamp to snap half of the framework together. The instructions are not clear enough when describing trimming the decking to length (you'd think they would be the correct length to match same lengths of assembled framing but that is not the case, so no matter how it is configured, you are cutting the decking). Please note, the decking has to be trimmed precisely to the framing and not the exposed clips for the edge trim. Somewhat curious, the edge trim is not secured beneath the decking but to the exposed edge of the decking -leaving any gaps very obvious. The decking is of quality composite and is weather/insect resistant. There is dramatic, random color differences on the decking which may bother some more than others. The drawbacks to composite decking is that it is slick when wet and does get very hot in direct sunlight -this decking is no exception.The decking installs easily. The edge trim, not so much and several pieces would not stay secured in the clips so I resigned to leave them off and it is not noticeable with grass growing against it. My biggest concern with this product is I believe the need for flat, firm substrate is not stressed enough. I have a flat area of yard that I placed a 4'x8' deck (2 kits), and within a week, the framework was coming loose at the clips because the dirt ground was not firm enough. However, if this was placed on a concrete pad, I believe it would work great! It took me less than an hour to assemble the (2) kits together so if you have the right base to use, this decking is less expensive and much faster to assemble than any conventionally built deck. I recommend this product with reservations.

[Rewarded Review] Easy snap together deck.

I had two Barrette Outdoor Living InstaDeck kits. Each kit includes: (4) 23" x 23" tiles and (4) 5.5" x 91.25" deck boards. I used 6 of the 8 squares to cover the shower side of our outdoor shower space. Everything clicked together easily and I used zip ties just to reinforce the connections. the boards all cut pretty easily with a circular saw and they click into tracks firmly, requires a little stomp but then they're set. I used the cut pieces to shim the platform since the ground isn't totally level and it actually has a really sturdy and stable feel when walking on the entire thing. You can make the deck as big as you like by adding as many kits as needed. The boards varied in color tone as pictured. Great warranty on the product and like that it is Made in USA

[Rewarded Review] Nice product but not a do it yourself project

The Barrette Outdoor living insta deck is a great idea my only problem is not with the physical product but there are no instructions. The color pamphlet included has no instructions. Their web site shows more product and gives a list of installers. Its not for the DI Y er. Calling was not much help either. They definately want you to hire professionals.
