Love Simple Human products! They are on the expensive side, but the quality is superb! This is the third Simple Human trashcan that we have purchased, and by far my favorite! The sleek look and functionally fits perfectly in our small kitchen. Buy the trash can liners from Simple Human as well, they are a great fit and whole a lot.

Perfect trash can!

I did a ridiculous amount of searching for the right trash can. After my toddler discovered how to throw things away in our swing top trash can, we realized we needed to buy a new one asap. I hated how expensive trash cans are but also wanted to get a decent quality that could last us. Even though I loved the look of an all stainless steel one, I read several reviews about them getting dented, potential rust, finger prints, etc. I took a chance on this one since it was a combo of plastic and stainless steel and it’s perfect! Looks great in the kitchen, functions well, sleek look against the wall. 10/10 so far. Hopefully it continues to work and stands the test of time.

Perfect Bin

Wanted a white kitchen bin to fit in between washing machine and dishwasher. Fitted space perfectly. Such a well made bin and good design features. Slow close lid and foot pedal work well. Bin bags are easy to fit. It came with several provided in the ingenious slot at the back of the bin where the bags are neatly stored. I've not used replacement Simplehuman bags but have purchased my normal 45litre bags from a well know supermarket which are much cheaper and fit perfectly. However, they can not be placed in the slot provided. All in all a lovely stylish bin that does the job perfectly.

Over a year later- finally reviewing.

I purchased the Gray simplehuman 45L Rectangular Liner Rim Plastic Step Trash Can in-store back in May 2023. I purchased this item inititally, as I was looking for a rectangle trash can where the lid would not hit a back wall, make noise, or be a general annoyance. This is posted in June 2024: It came with a few starter trash bags, specially made to fit in the back for easy use. It also came with a discount code to purchase online the special bags. They make it easy to identify which bags are the best fit for your trash can. I used the discount code and purchased a large stock of special fitting trash bags- this was a great discount and smart purchase. You can never have enough trash bags, as they will eventually be used. I have not had a single trash bag tear, leak and it is easy to fit the bags around the inner lining. They do not show undernead the top cover! I love how this trash can has been able to stand up over the last year, and it is simple to wipe down, and get any small crumbs out for cleaning. I do not have any issues with the foot pedal, no annoying noises, no sticking. I appreciate how when you need to open the top for access to the liner, it will lock in place. No lids falling on your hands if you need to get to the base! I have zero complaints about this trash can and have honestly been thinking of looking into other trash cans from this company, simply because I have had this for over a year and cannot believe I finally found the 'perfect' trash can for a small kitchen area. I only hope that I will be able to find another discount code when I will need to restock on specialty trash liners again- I do admit they are overpriced and specialty items. While these are not necessary- for me it is one off the things that makes this trash can so easy to use. The longevity of the trash can, makes it great even if you won’t be using the special bags.

Not worthe the price, get the better one

When I got this I had meant to get the full stainless steel one. In my opinion the plastic one isn’t worth how expensive it is. Yes, it has a nice design and it’s very modern. But if you’re going to buy something from this brand, just get the nicer one for a little more money.

This trash can is actually dressy! It’s easy to change the bag and soft close lid allows you to put the trash in with ease!

This is my second purchase from this brand as I bought a second trash can for recycling.

Is it weird to be love with a garbage can?

Decided to replace the plastic swing top can in the kitchen and what a great decision! This is smaller than the previous one but because the bags fit so well, the garbage is compacted to use ALL the space in the bag - so it actually is smaller yet more effective. The lid is amazing. And I don't know if we got the "magic" version but the area in can that holds replacement bag is JUST starting to run low (and we bought it in August). That little compartment holds A LOT of bags! And having them right there is so convenient. So - no regrets for buy a bit of a pricey can that looks better and is more functional!

Advantages and disadvantages

It's a very attractive bin. This is the second one I bought. I had to replace it after about 6 years as the opening mechanism stopped working properly (ie lid only went up half way). I replaced with like as I have a second, identical one for recycle. The disadvantage of these bins is that you have to buy the special 'K' bin liners made by Simplehuman, which are expensive. They are strong and very good, though.

Best trashcan hands down.

Been wanting this trashcan for a while now. Finally decided to go ahead with the purchase. I am not disappointed at all, should have done it sooner. This trashcan is not only nice looking it’s one you want front and center in your kitchen. Bags are located right on the trashcan and in the most convenient place. The bags are also of great quality and are very durable.

Worth the money!

We have never spent a lot on trash cans because it seemed pointless, but after being unhappy with trash cans for years, we finally did some research and purchased 2 of these. They are definitely worth the money. The coordinating bags and storage inside are great- super strong bags, too! The trash cans look nice and stay clean. You can tell they are great quality and will last way longer than the cheap ones.

Worth the Money

This is a great trash can. I love how it has a compartment inside for the trash bags. It's super convenient and saves me the space of storing a box of garbage bags. My only complaint is that I wish Target retail stores stocked the coordinating trash bags. I went to get some more in the store and they did not have them. I had to order them from the manufacturer's website, which is inconvenient. If Target sells this and it has a custom fit coordinating trash bag, they should also sell those.

A nice-looking garbage can for the kitchen

We have used this can for about a week (one bag full) and we are quite pleased with it. The rectangular shape reduces the intrusion of the unit into the room but still allows a good volume in the bag. Clean, simple design and good colour fit into our kitchen. Easy, smooth action on the lid with the 'soft close' feature. A good design. I am looking for a source for replacement liner bags.

This is the best trashcan we’ve ever had. I ordered it because I needed to put a trashcan in my kitchen and didn’t want to see the bag hanging out. This trashcan not only beautifully hides the bag edges, but the lid opens and closes easily and quietly. It’s a great size and love that it doesn’t scratch up my newly painted wall as it opens and closes. Also love that you can store fresh trash bags in the back of the can. Great purchase!

Kitchen bin

I really do like this bin. It’s very sturdy and my dog can’t get into it to rake for food. I love how refill bags sit in it. It’s really handy. Hopefully it will last for a very long time as it was pricey ££. The only issue I have is food gets stuck in the narrow bits around the rim. Which isn’t easy to get into to clean. This of course wouldn’t be an issue if my son could manage to put stuff in the bin without making a mess 🤦‍♀️

Not cheap, but so worth it!

I bought this SimpleHuman trash can to replace a cheaper Brightroom (Target brand) trash can that I’d bought only a couple of weeks before. But the Brightroom trash can was virtually unusable, so I ended-up ditching it and going back to a SimpleHuman trash can. I say “going back” because I actually owned this SimpleHuman 45L Rectangular Liner Rim trash can previously, for about a decade, until I accidentally broke it. It just goes to show that there’s no substitute for quality, even if you have to pay a bit more for it. I’m so glad I spent the extra $25 and got this trash can, which is easy to use and will probably last me another decade. It gets an “A” grade from me!

Great can with a caveat

The Simplehuman products are not cheap, but they are well designed and generally a good value. This garbage can is bigger than you think. 45L, or 13 gallons, is a pretty large amount, so keep that in mind when looking - and more garbage means a greater chance for funky smells to develop. The can itself looks half-decent and works well. The foot step is handy, and the slow-close lid works great at quietly closing and keeping any odors trapped in. The only real complaint I have about this product is that it is optimized for Simplehuman garbage bags, which are a bit pricey, and don't have a biodegradable option in this size. There are other brand options for bags online, but the biodegradable ones can be a challenge to find.

Bought grey 45L simplehuman bin. Bought in the sale for £68. This was an absolute bargin. It is very sturdy for plastic and the bin lid opens beautifully with a lovely soft close. The little bin liner holder at the back is very handy. Only had it a few days and very impressed. I have always had Brantania Bins but they always end up braking either at the lid or at the foot pedal. This has a 5 year guarantee also which was very appealing. It is a nice height too for children to use. It is a very spacious bin. I have always had the cylinder type bins and things always got a bit crammed and very difficult to pull the bin liner out without it splitting or getting stuck. The bags that come with it are very good quality. The only downside is that the bin does not have a plastic liner bin inside it which you would normally remove when emptying the bin or if the bag spits you could wash this separately. I am hoping the bins liners don't split otherwise we are going to have to clean out the whole bin. I'll update.

Efficient Trash Execution

The simplehuman step trash can worked perfectly, straight out of the box. This is due to its simple, functional and quality engineering of the waste disposal process. The liner changes occur about once per week. Without having to pry, the light cover closes completely, discouraging my foraging male cat from even trying to root in the trash. The liner bags are designed for a perfect fit and the inside of the step trash receptacle is easy to clean when changing. It fits flush to the wall and never pops up like a nasty Jack-in-the-Box when I lightly step to raise the cover.
