We bought this for our opening to the kitchen for our 15 month old. The gate so far has proven to be very handy and easy to install and use. The only thing to note is that when you roll the gate back in, do so slowly to ensure it is rolled straight! Once attached, you can lock the mesh section to ensure that babies do not try to stretch the roller section further to try and escape underneath

Was looking for a gate for my large entry ways. Found this product and it works great. Works really good for pets. Easy install/setup. You can adjust your mount to whatever height off floor you like. Liked it enough to purchase a 2nd gate.

Great purchase!

I just installed this gate between our living area and the rest of the house to quarantine our new kitten. I love that it’s retractable and not bulky. It’s great quality. 4 stars because it doesn’t come with directions. There are some on the Chewy website but they aren’t great. I also used different screws as mine is drilled into cabinets.

Very sturdy gate, easy to install

I wanted a tall retractable gate to keep my dog on my porch, and this one hit all my checkboxes. The only reason for giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because it's a little difficult to use the little knob that allows the gate to open or close. This is great for preventing kids from opening the gate, but it's a little tricky to do quickly. If you're not all thumbs like me, this may not be an issue for you. Installation was not too difficult, but it does help to have 2 people and to take your time to figure out how you want to configure the spacers.

Not Suitable for dogs

We purchased this item as it stated suitable for dogs (4.5-18kgs) we own two small dogs (8kgs) and they immediately got under the gate. It doesn’t provide any tightening /traction at the bottom and allows for the dogs to fit underneath with no issues. This also poses a safety risk for larger dogs attempting to get under it. I would absolutely not recommend this if you purchased this gate to keep your pets contained in an area.

Baby Gate

I loved it, until, in about a week both my dog and goat figured out how to squeeze under your product. The fabric started to loosen it pull the bottom of from its side attachmet I don't think it to be the fault of the gate, I blame the 71" width. Also, it is difficult to open and close, due to its width, have to hold on to both ends (71") tooperate. This is a high quality baby gait when used properly. Would recommend to anyone.

My tiny 7kg adult cavoodle wrecked it in one day

I mentioned to customer service my gate was 5 days old and my tiny dog ate through it. They accused me of lying so I sent a pic of my dog and gate and they said that it can’t withstand a dog clawing at it and offered me 20% to buy a new gate. I bought from them twice buying 4 gates disappointing customer service experience. I was after a way to repair the gate but was told you can’t repair them just throw it away. Wasteful.

Retractable Gate Excellence

Absolute game changer! Very different to the gate system we were used to, very small footprint. Great for our dogs. When not in use and it’s open, you appreciate that it is not restricting your room space. The lock system is fantastic as it prevents our dogs pushing through.

Bought this to keep our new puppy from getting up the side of our house where we hang the washing and have some herbs growing.

Great Product

I think the design is great, works really well for what we wanted. The installation instructions were also easy to follow. The template was a great edition to the installation. I have just seen a remark below and yes it would have been great if there was more spacers. I made my own out of 15mm plywood easy enough but not everyone will have a jigsaw and drill press on hand. Thanks

Anchors Away

We really like the look of this gate. Sleek and attractive. We bought it specifically to keep the dogs in the back hallway / mud room while they dry off or when the little grandchildren are playing in the living room. Worked great. Easy installation. One criticism is that the anchors are NOT very robust. After one day of use they began to pull away from the wall. (Sheetrock). We ended up replacing them with more heavy duty screw in type anchors. Also, it doesn’t open easily in one motion. Rather, the top has to be released first and then the bottom. Grandma couldn’t really do it at all. Overall we would still recommend it.

Nice product, install kit could be better.

Gate works great and installation was easy once we had enough parts. The install measurement guides work a treat however the inclusion of only 3 mount spacers was insufficient. Including an odd number is a strange choice and we needed to order 1 extra spacer for the gate to clear the baseboards. Due to stock levels it was not possible to order just one spacer and we had to order an entire mount kit for just one part (+shipping), this increased the cost of the gate not insignificantly!

Does the job, but could be a little higher

Good, relatively easy to install. I think that it could be a bit higher, top to bottom. The site we had was a bit tricky because of the ballustrade having turned timber posts, so a spacer and a bit of ingenuity required to get the bottom catching mount to work. If gate was a bit higher, the catching mounts could have both been flat (see photos). Otherwise, all ok.

One handed operation

Despite what the internet commercials show, the gate is almost impossible for an elderly person to operate one handed. There needs to be a way to loosen the tension on the gate so it can be more easily operated one handed. Thank you for the change in providing an unlock setting on the gate. When we bought our first gate a number of years ago, this was not available.

These safety gates look great, but I had quite a few problems with them. Undoing and closing was extremely difficult in that the bottom had to line up manually, which takes time as the pull on the gate is strong. When I was holding something it wasn’t poss with one hand. Secondly, maybe this would work with a very good baby, and a very well-behaved larger dog, but I have a small/medium sized dog and he pushed his way under it. I wouldn’t recommend it as it even came out of the wall because of the strong pull of the gate.

Love these! I have purchased 4 of them over the years. We use them for our personal home and vacation home. I only had to replace one in over 10 years and it was because of a 125lbs mastiff. With that being said the spring broke on the roller and it wouldn’t roll back properly after that.

What the website, box or installation instructions don't tell you is that 1,400 mm is the outer dimension of the unit, not the fabric. This is an important distinction when you are selecting the product or setting out for drilling.If you are using this product in its face fix configuration, the door opening cannot be any bigger than 1,250 mm, but if you are end-fitting, the opening size can be up to +1450mm. Important information don't you think, for the poor soul at Bunnings with his wife and baby?It is amazing that your engineering team can make such a good product, but your marketing team is incredibly out of touch and inept.Not to worry. I guess you don't mind wasting everyone's time.
