Disappointing and Smelly

I've had this Polder countertop compost bin for over a year now. It says that bags are not required, but I quickly realized that it was impossible to clean and holds onto food waste smells. Even using bags does not remedy the problem. I have tried using the dishwasher and other extreme measures to clean this bin, and dispite comments that silicone doesn't stain or hold onto smells, it still reeks. I cannot recommend this product.

I've had a few of these before - this one is SO easy to clean, no need for bags or anything else, and seals tightly.

Gets moldy fast

Over time, the container gets black spots that I assume are mildew/mold. Even with bleaching and scrubbing, I cant get the spots to go away. We own two of these - one I keep relatively clean but the other is not emptied as regularly. Both have black spots. I don't recommend this product unless you are scrupulous about scrubbing it every week. I like the size and shape but that's all.

Good indoor composter

Saving scraps in an open bowl on the counter until I could empty them into my backyard compost bin upset my wife. She bought this a few years ago and it works well. Once dumped I leave it inside out and spray with a hose, then dry in the sun. Never needed to wash it and no smell.

Best we've ever had

Used this for years before the liner has finally started to show signs of wear. Now starting to shop for replacement liner.

I have been using this composter for at least 5 years now. Early on I called the company directly to order a replacement because my husband accidentally dropped it into the garbage can without holding onto the bottom protrusion. I ordered 2 more container for extra measure. The top and bottom have been in the dishwasher numerous times without an issue. And I love you do not need a bag, just throw it in the dishwasher. I've always have it on the bottom dishwasher rack (I have a Meile dishwasher).

Large capacity so it doesn't fill up too quick; No smell! No bugs! Easy to clean, use it all the time! Has an 'unobtrusive' footprint, doesn't get in the way on the counter.

I've been using this compost container for a couple years now and love it. I line it with a bag so rarely have to clean the silicone base; and take apart/clean the lid every time it's emptied. I like that it can sit out on the counter to be easily accessible.

Fantastic product

This compost bin is perfect for our kitchen. It holds a surprisingly large amount of compost and is super easy to empty and clean.

Some great, some bad

I purchased this at the beginning on November 2020. I use it everyday to throw out fruit & vegetable scraps. I use bags inside of it so it's easy to clean. I really like that it keeps the smell contained & I don't need to fill up my regular garbage with things that will rot & make my kitchen smell. Sometimes I do need to clean it in the dishwasher to get the smell out if it.

I love this counter compost bin! It holds a lot of food scraps without taking up too much space. It also traps odors well and is easy to clean. I highly recommend.

So bad!

I bought this about a month ago and it is impossible to clean and get the odor out! Emptied and cleaned, the smell of it actually gags me. It is also not easy to empty. I will return it if possible. Do not buy this.

Great idea

I had been looking for a bench top composter for ages and weighed up all my options. I really like this one as it it is easy clean and so far is working brilliantly.
