this is working well got the hose off the floor and easy to deploy and retrieve quite sturdy all metal nice finish

problems with connector hose

Only had it less than 3 months and the hose that connect to it and spigot cracked and is leaking had to replace it. This was not installed outside but indoors so no sun or weather related.

Yard Butler 100 Ft. Reel Overall Comments

My primary reason for purchasing the Yard Butler reel was because it was very similar to an Ames reel I had for several years and the mounting holes aligned quite nicely with the anchors I already had in place in my brick wall. The Yard Butler should satisfy my needs but there are two design changes I suggest to Yard Butler. First, I'd redesign it so the reel could swing from either left to right or vice versa to better match the user's needs. Also, the swing out arm should be able to be locked into place (perhaps by increments) so the reel does not swing during the reeling process. To prevent this, I added a couple of zip ties to lock it in place (I don't really need to be able to swing it out). Since it was only recently installed, I cannot comment on the long term quality but I hope in the long term it does not easily leak or corrode. Only time will tell.

Seems a user can't lock the reel in a set position. When swinging out the reel to be 90 degrees from the the reel will not lock into that position.

Could be more durable?

Great product. This is a replacement for an identical one purchased about 3 years ago. We'd have expected it to last longer, but that said it does get heavy use. It's mounted to brick.

One o ring seal inside the tube constantly turning wears out and leaks. Very difficult to disassemble and assemble to replace o ring. i've replaced the o ring a few times in a short period.

Most reels don’t last- this reel seems solid & durable - I’m pleased with the installation & functioning of it so far.

It needs a catch or pin to hold the arm...

It needs a catch or pin to hold the arm in the closed position. Pulling out the hose causes the arm to swing out and the hose binds. Another solution would be to allow mounting with either a left or right swing. I solved the problem by drilling through the swing arm and mounting arm. Then I dropped a bolt in the holes to hold the swing arm in place.

Looks very neat when mounted.
