I was replacing the same ones. I live in a coastal environment and these lasted 3 years in a breezeway. They are durable in this environment.

They were expensive for what they are. They don't seal well around the edges. Unless your texture is flat you will have areas where light leaks out around the trim.

Always look at what your buying

The reason is that Lowes doesn't do a good job making sure what is on the shelf is what is on the sign. There were different trims in the sleeves in the box I was purchasing. Some trims were missing the springs. All these out of place items were left in the bay. I hope the electrical dept. associate finds them and takes them out of circulation. Not everybody checks all their packages.

Our old ones were made of plastic and had yellowed, not to mention had to large of an opening for the bulbs. Replacing the old (builder install) units with new Halos, made the house look so much better. And, they're easy to install once you get the hang of how to do it.

Image shows the white rim and the black insert. This is deceptive. It is only the white ring and there is no way to actually hang it in a regular fixture.

I brought Halo 301 Series 6" white recessed ceiling light open splay trim. Hoping it would fit in a opening I already had in the ceiling. This was used to go round a Halo 4" recessed canless light. Perfect fit.

Installed one of eight according to instructions and ring around light register registered “hot” (electrified). I called the HELP??? number on the instruction sheet and no one could help. Returned the items. Really poor technical support.

Recessed light trim

I’m remodeling my house and Lowe’s is doing it all. Kitchen cabinets, countertops, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, and 2,000 small items. One of the things I did was replace all the recess light trim. Seems the builder use shower recessed through the house. Those foggy glass lenses had to go. Now I have clean bright lighting thanks to that simple fix. If I was awarded the $300 well I would use it to buy new deck boards so please help me out with some new deck boards.

The provided spring clips to hold the fixture in place in my existing recessed can did not hold the fixture tight to the underside of the ceiling. Also, the design of how the clips are attached to the fixture is lacking. The springs repeatedly snapped flat from the vertical position. I returned it.

We had a hard time finding the perfect size trim for our recessed light and since the light worked and we only needed the trim piece we really had a time finding what we needed. Other stores sold entire recessed lights but not just the trim pieces. What a relief it was to walk into Home Depot and within 5 minutes find exactly what we were looking for! It attaches to an already recessed light with two small springs that stretch out and attach to the inside of the housing. My recessed lights are at least 20 years old, but they work perfectly so there was no need to replace the entire light. Thanks to The Home Depot we didn't have to do a major overhaul on our lights, just a face-lift!

Easy fix

I was going to replace some older recessed lights, which would have cost me $27 each, due to some rust on the trim. Got to the store and saw these for about $6. Bought them since I could then avoid all the labor and cost to put in new lights. The only problem was that they were a little smaller diameter than the old..typical of today’s materials...but I just got out a little paint and covered the gap. That’s why the 4 star. Everything today is thinner, smaller but costs more. Overall I am happy with the purchase..

Unless you cut a hole in your ceiling that is the exact size of the 6" can, it will not cover sufficiently. A couple of my holes were not cut exact enough so I'm having to order the larger size. A bit of a hassle but overall, not a big deal. They do look nice however though they do show some light underneath the trim and I was not clear how to prevent this. I'm hoping the larger size will fix this as well.
