Good tool but missing some features
Before I begin, I should state that it's my own fault for not reading the product description more carefully. This product peels, cores, and slices apples. But it does not have the ability to ONLY peel and core without slicing. So if you're looking for a quick way to prep apples for apple pie or apple dumplings, this won't help you, as the spiral-cut apple slices are much too thin for pie. That said, it does a good job of peeling and coring and slicing and if you need all three things done, this is the fastest way to do it.
It works well
It took a while to figure out the directions, but once I did, the process went quickly. I would definitely recommend it if you peel a lot of apples or potatoes. You can take the corer piece out for potatoes which is pretty cool.
Keeping the Doctor away
This peeler is so fun to use, and I find myself eating apples every day now. Quick rinse to clean (with a soap clean weekly) really beats the old method of coring, peeling and slicing in three steps with three tools.
Set-up needed. Otherwise great tool.
It was packaged with the peel blade backward. I had used my daughter’s so didn’t know. Mi have to wait for my son-in- law to fix that. I LOVED using my daughter’s.
Peeler, Corner Dynamo
This will save me lots of time when making my Apple Pies. It made quick work of peeling, coring and slicing my apples. The Apple Peeler, Corner and Slicer is a godsend for me. It is also easy to clean up after use. It is very sturdy and easy to use.
Apple peeler
I have purchased one of these from other venders and the items either broke almost immediately or never worked to begin with. This apple peeler is definitely a quality tool. Works well, easy storage
Good, but some concerns
When it works well, it is great, both at peeling and slicing. But I have concerns. The "slices" are not in fact separate detached slices but a single spiral cut into the apple. And when you place the apple ion the prongs, you have to do so very carefully to make sure it is straight on. If it is even a little bit off center, the apple will wobble as you turn the crank and the peeling and slicing will be very uneven. Finally, the blade that does the peeling is adjustable, and it takes a bit of practice to get the right position for the very shallow depth of peel that you want. Also, the directions were not helpful: (1) when you take it out of its box, the crank is facing inward and it took me a while to figure out how to remove it and turn it around; (2) the clamp to hold it fast to a flat surface will work, but only if you press down on the peeler while turning the clamp handle. So overall, I am quite satisfied but not thrilled.
Difficult to set up, and then it doesn't work
The directions it came with were cryptic at best, but I was able to set it up after watching some videos online. Clamp barely fit on my countertop (suction did not work at all), and the whole machine seemed cheap and clunky. And then it just...doesn't work. It cored and sliced ok, not perfectly, but peeling? Forget it. I adjusted it multiple times, tried a few different apple sizes and varieties-not a single apple was cleanly peeled, and some were barely touched at all. So disappointed.
Apple Peeler
I bought because I have arthritis in my hands and peeling apples manually can be painful. The apple peeler is very difficult to adhere to the counter when your hands don’t work too well. So, it’s in the box and I am using a knife. The idea is great, but it’s obviously not made for everyone.
Somewhat disappointed
I was excited to receive the Apple pillar. However, When I changed from peeling the apple to not peeling the apple The lever popped out of place, and we had to manipulate it to get it back in. Then, when I changed it back to peeling an apple, it popped out again. I’m wondering if I have a defective apple pillar.
It peels, cores and slices
It peels, cores and slices well. However, the suction doesn’t work at all on granite countertop, and my countertops are too deep for the vise attachment. I had to raid the toolbox to rig up a way to hold it still.
Works Great
We have an apple tree in our yard and decided cider wasn't for us, so we processed the apples using this corer-peeler-slicer and made apple galettes for all the neighbors. Works quickly - an indispensable tool if you have a lot of apples to handle.
Shockingly good
I hate peeling potatoes. So I thought I’d get this and see if it was better. Its great! It also is great for peeling apples. I liked it so much I got two other ones for family members.
Glad I bought it
It works great - I can peel and core a bunch of apples super quick. The only objection I have is that the wing nut that holds the coring blade in place is hard to get tight enough, so the blade moves around and has to be adjusted too much. Other than that, perfect!
Temperamental with no suction grlp
The first thing was that I was forced to use the u-bar that was included because there was no suction or grip on the rubber. There is definitely a learning curve for adjusting the peeler. It seems to me that it must be adjusted for each individual piece of fruit- in my case it was lots of apples. I suppose it is quicker than peeling and coring by hand so I would recommend using such a thing, just maybe not this particular brand. This one was recommended by the NYT so I don’t know if there are better brands.
Apple peeler corer slicer
The instructions for set up say to attach the handle. The handle had been attached inverted for shipping so it would not be loose inside the box which is a good idea. Initially I tried to remove the handle from the arm but it was getting a bit risky how much force was being applied. The easier way was to unscrew the arm from the shaft and then reverse the handle so it can spin
Fun tool!
It's a fun tool! We've peeled, sliced & cored dozens of apples. We've expanded it to include potato's and onions. It works great. Simple tool, well finished, easy to clean and fun to use. Easy to adjust for peeling or lock the arm back to leave the peel on. Durable enamel finish, suction holds good enough. Clamp for table included but we just moisten the base and use the suction lever.
apple peeler/corer - fun to use
I had one of these for years and wore it out. I was happy to find KA had one. It is such fun to use to make applesauce - peels pecks of apples in a flash. It's so good I bought an extra one and sent it to my daughter-in-law in Switzerland.
Love it, use it nearly daily
So easy to use. I can’t bite into an apple, but love them and hated peeling them. This is awesome and so fast. Peel an apple in 15 seconds. Easy clean up. Buying them as my Christmas gift for everyone this year!
Not What It Should Be
This is one of those devices that looks simple but isn't. I've watched videos and made adjustments to the blade, yet the apples remain incompletely peeled, with the last third skin-on. I can peel, slice and core apples faster with a knife, so I'm disappointed.
