I highly recommend these chairs for pouring a slab, especially if you are working by yourself or with a small crew. They take the guess work out of "is the mesh pulled high enough into the concrete." I poured 3 small slabs this summer and they worked great. Actually, I found out about these chairs from a neighbor who poured an ICF house with radiant floors using these chairs. The guy was an engineer and did everything "by the numbers." So if he was using them, you know they're good!

I thought they would be cheap plastic and break the moment I walked on them but they are actually well built and held up to being walked on before the pour. You just have to watch way they are orientated when installing.

Very Good Rebar Chair

Very sturdy. I used them with 6 AWG galvanized mesh and they supported foot traffic very well. Tight clips on 6 AWG but fit nicely with a good push by hand.

These chairs clipped onto the mesh securely and kept the mesh where I wanted it to be. Many contractors simply use the spreader to lift the mesh to the center, then they invariably walk on it pushing it back to the bottom. These chairs did not come off and prevent the mesh from going to the bottom of the slab. The only down side is that it is extra work putting them on, and you must be sure they are oriented with the long clips on the upper bar and the short clips on the the lower bar, BUT using them will make you sleep better at night.

Did the job! I discovered that concrete will not fill into the chair crevices completely when your mix includes aggregate. That being the case, I found it necessary to squeeze the mix into the chair cavity with my hands to ensure a consistent level of strength throughout the pour area.

Pricey but does work well

The chairs worked well to keep mesh at reasonable height before and during the concrete pour. You could walk on wire mesh while chairs are in place - mesh presses down and come back up while walking on it. Chairs are quite strong/sturdy. I think they were bit pricey and must buy in batch of 100. I bought 3 boxes where i ended up using only about 5 chairs from the third box - stuck with remaining about 95 chairs!
