I bought the set of 24. The case is a very nice heavy plastic with a removable mixing palette that has 8 small and 2 large wells. The half pans are secured by magnets. The case can hold 36 so I was able to add more of my favorite colors. The travel brush included with the set is about a size 8. It's a very nice snappy, synthetic brush. The case can hold an additional 2 travel brushes. Holbein watercolors are very rich in pigment and very nice to work with. I especially love their Sap Green. I hesitated buying it for a long time because of the price but I'm glad I did. Overall, I think the quality of this set is excellent!

I would purchase again

I do love the creamy texture the way it lasts , it's lightfastness, and heaviness for a first or landscape. I am a beginner and found the photo reference to be a bit off from the actual product. It has a lot more sepia in it than a aquarelle(ish) or gold hued green. I can add water and a gold to obtain what I was looking for as seen in the examples I have uploaded.

I would definitely buy these again -

I paint Fantasy and have always used Holbein tubes. Wanted to have this as an option. ( because I don't like squeezing out the tubes for every painting)

I like to pallet very much. I have not used it much yet. I bought it for travel and have not gone anywhere just yet. I like the shape and the ability to use well positioned mixing areas and the Holbein paints are among the best.

Great product

I tried these paints after seeing recommendation after recommendation on a water color art group I belong. My only wish is that I purchased these sooner instead of wasting money on cheaper paints. I started out with smaller pan set and since have purchased additional pans to add to my palette. Would highly recommend these.

excellent and professional

#sweepstakes I got just one half pan of the Payne's Grey because I do a lot of greyscale manga. It looks very professional-grade, finely ground, with good color lay down. This particular color has more blue than I was expecting, so I should really buy a whole set to tinker with. I think that would be perfect. The half pan also has a magnet on the bottom to hold it down on metal tins, which was really great (my other ones slide around during transport, even though they're clipped in).

Great colors, and it's one of my favorite pan sets. I go to it over most of my other pan sets and use it most often. I ordered a spare one just because of the great price on Ebay. I also have the tubes as well. I love Holbein products and also have their gouache and colored pencils as well.

Well worth the extra money!

Since 2014, I use Holbein half pan watercolors in my travel kit, because at home I use the very moist and luscious M. Graham watercolor tube paints. Because M. Graham is extremely moist, and don't dry or harden like other brands, I didn't even try filling pans with it for a travel kit. So I turned to the Holbein half pan watercolors and I am very pleased. The Holbein half pans are higher in price- a few colors are even twice the price of Winsor Newton, but I have found them to be so rich, intense, and moist, that I feel I'm getting paint well worth the money. After four years of using and loving the Holbein half pans, I replaced a couple of my pans with Winsor Newton, but I noticed the difference immediately, and it confirmed for me that you get what you pay for, and I will stick with the Holbein half pans for my travel kit.

Great Watercolor

I got transparent colors, Arizona Crimson, Sap Green and Cadmium Lemon Yellow. The quality of this watercolor paint is great and easy to be taken care. The colors are intense and beautiful even when it is diluted. It is also nice to the Alla-Prima and grazing technique. Holbein Artists' Watercolor Half Pans that I got can freely travel in small around of water on the surface of paper. I'm used to using tube paints, but now I love this "Pan". It seems remaining fresh longer than tube type.
