the top surface tilts for comfort. but this is also the most convenient way to pull the table closer to you. The pulling easily lifts the top off the tilt bracket and suddenly the top goes completely vertical and your dinner is on the floor. needs something simple to lock the top in the tilting brackets

The height adjustment is wonderful for using for a variety of purposes! It was so easy to assemble and very sturdy. The leg shape is far more comfortable that the typical TV tray table.
