This is a nice starter set.

It's a nice little starter set. I do wish Kato would make all the components for N guage on the HO guage platform. I've already purchased some additonal tracks and am in the process of constructing a NEW lightsaber lol... I wish Kato would also take the professional set they do have and set a package price for each. Were one available, I'd have bought a much larger set to begin with.

Excellent Choice for a Larger Starter set!

I love this HO layout! It is only a little more expensive than a basic oval and much more interesting. The track assembles very easily. And, the track provides a great variety of pieces that can be used to support building a larger layout. The only reason i gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is that both right hand manual turnouts did not function properly (when the switch was thrown the track did not move….. inspection revealed weak switch spring wire). I sent these to Kato for warranty repair per their request. Warranty repair has a 6-8 week turnaround so their customer service rep told me they will send me new replacements.

Excellent model train tracks

Kato makes great model train tracks. And the boxed sets are great for folks who do not have a permanent model train layout because the packaging keeps the track pieces safe between use. I have used Kato track on and off for years and never once broke a track piece or track connector. Its easy enough to use that my 6 year old son can connect and disconnect the track pieces.

have had problem with engines and train cars derailing at switches, seemed to be decide poorly and there are 5 of them with set.

Versatile and durable while being great for beginners.

Although I have not installed the HO Kato track yet, I had some N-scale track previously and can't wait to make the switch to Kato track. It is SO much easier to use.
