Ours came well packaged. My 16 yr old son put it together for me and only occasionally needed my help to hold something straight while he started a screw. It was a little tricky to put together in a couple of spots where the alignment of the holes wasn't precise enough, but it did come together in the end and was stable and level. It really is a nice bench, a good value for money, and looks great on my covered front porch. 4 stars because of the poor hole alignment in a couple of spots.
