Sub par manufacturing!!

I purchased for my daughter for Christmas, took me a half a day off and on to build it. Brand new boards came cracked and some parts didn't line up. Wherever you build it plan to leave it there. It is hollow and heavy enough to break if it's shifted in any direction while moving to final destination. After a few months outside the wood swells up and separates. Now I have to drill additional screws in it and add other board to fortify and stabilize.I recommend for indoor use only.

JUNK!!! The material is so cheap, when screwing parts in the wood broke apart. The parts are bent and do not line up due to being so cheap. I would never purchase again and did not arrive on time. When i called, they told me there is nothing they can do and if i did not want the item I would have to pay to restock. So my child got their birthday present 2 days late!

I very much like this affordable play house. I constructed it mostly in my garage and husband and I moved it to it’s permanent site in our yard. I did repaint paint the house inside and out with a good quality outdoor paint. I also wood glued the sections together to add stability. We are very pleased with this play house.

Quality + Assembly = Awful

My daughter loves that’s the best thing. The bad includes: horrible paint job, pieces have to be modified to make it fit, conflicting information from the very pleasant customer service reps and questionable quality.

Definitely recommend. Great for indoor or outdoor

Good instructions and easy to follow. The parts are well organized in the shipping box and individually marked for easier setup.

BAD SMELL!

I bought this for my girls for Christmas. I knew it needed painted so after putting it together I immediately did that. It looks so cute BUT the smell that came from it out of the box is incredible nauseating. Paint hasn’t even touched the smell. My kids won’t go in it. I’m so disappointed. I’m going to have to disassemble a gift from Santa and put it outside and hope it airs out. I’m not hopeful. I think I wasted my money.

Great purchase! Looks beautiful!

Instructions were easy to follow. I built in about 3 hours alone except for roof. You need two people for that part. So pieces were chipped and a piece of wood broke off, likely from shipping. However, a little wood glue did the trick. It definitely needs to be painted because it’s so thin so I ended up painting it with another coat of white with outdoor protection from mold/mildew. Turned out great!!

Disappointed

Bought this knowing I was going to repaint it but could not believe the terrible quality control. Broken pieces. Paint applied by manufacturer was blotchy and terrible. The white coat was barely applied in most areas. Definitely not like the picture.

Not good quality…wont last long.

I’ve had this for 2 months. The little plastic bbq lid came broken and the wooden shelf came split. The door broke within the first 2 weeks, the paint is chipping in multiple areas, the roof seems warped. The whole counter part is now cracked at one end, we had to remove it. The wood seems very cheap and flimsy. I had a kid craft playhouse years ago and the quality was much better. I’m very disappointed, especially for the price.

Delivered Very Damaged!!!

Very cute playhouse. But was delivered very damaged the box looked like FedEx kicked it from the factory to my front door! I knew when I opened the box that it was going to be damaged just from the looks of the outside of the box. You could literally see the house parts from the outside of the box. Very disappointing. I would suggest using another carrier as FedEx is probably the worst deliverer I’ve ever seen in my life! I would recommend the house but not the shipping company!

This is a very cute play house, unfortunately Kidkraft puts all the pieces tightly in one box and a lot of them arrived warped from the weight of the other pieces on top, cracked and broken. We made due with it as it was a Christmas gift and Wayfair worked out a resolution with the damaged pieces. It’s takes some time to put together bit nothing too intimidating. The price is a bit much for the quality. Though given a bit of TLC and patience it’s still a decent playhouse.

Cheap materials/Poor shipping practice

Bought this for my 4-year-old as a Christmas present. The package arrived open with much of the styrofoam protective layers busted. A few of the wood pieces were noticeably chipped. The plastic cover for the grill was busted apart. Worse than anything was the chemical odor that hovered in my basement for well over 24 hours which I assume has something to do with the paint on the playhouse. Overall, I would definitely say I will not be purchasing from KidKraft in the future as there were so many problems, one or two I could've accepted as slips through the cracks but there was at least a dozen.

Really cute playhouse

My daughter and her husband got this for my granddaughters birthday. It was damaged in a few places. She emailed customer service and we received the new parts within a week or two. The wood is not quality wood but the main issue is it’s not painted. It has a light primer on it. I got white outdoor paint that was a primer and a paint and painted the outside and the inside. I also stained the roof and the picnic table and grill. I did numerous coats. We live where the sun will warp the wood quickly. I also set the playhouse on top of bricks so it will not sit in water. I removed the sink and shelve and cut the sink off. I used wood to make corner shelves. I assembled a small kitchen which included a sink, microwave, refrigerator and stove. I made home made curtains and aprons. I also made planters and painted them white. I made shutters and stained them to match table. Added some house #’s and solar lights plus a welcome mat. My granddaughter picked out the material for the curtains and she chose welcome mat to match. If you add the primer and paint it will be worth it!

Splintered pieces, missing parts, poor directions

First off, I own a children’s business, my husband is a contractor, so putting things together come rather easy- we get stickers can come off, and cut of wood, along with pilot-holes do not always line-up. But, there is NO EXCUSE for the missing stickers on parts, playing find Waldo & literally not receiving all support brackets to safely secure the playhouse we received.

Modern Outdoor Playhouse fail

Skip buying this playhouse for many reasons! Our playhouse boards came warped, the design was not as listed in the description (we were told by KidKraft customer service they have a new design and are "working" on updating the listing here, but haven't yet), there is a side gap in the door, and may cracked boards. Upon contacting KidKraft, we were offered replacement parts. We sent a list of replacement parts we needed. A box came quickly, but they were parts to a swing we did not own and not a playhouse. Once again, we contacted KidKraft. They ensured that the correct parts were on the way. We soon received another box that included most of the parts, not still not all, and half the replacement parts were cracked as well...what a headache! Skip this purchase, there are tons of other options out there, but I was 'swooned' into buying by all the pretty instagram pictures.

Kidcraft specializes in outdoor play so I am a little surprised about the overall quality of this product. We got this for our son’s birthday and he loves it. But the paint job, if it is real paint, looks iffy and certainly not weather resistant as stated in the description. My first impression: it looks like primer. So we are probably going to cover with tarp on rainy days to give us time to paint it. It also came with a part missing to secure the roof. Multiple damaged spots in the wood. Also age range states 4-10 years old. Mhmm my kiddo turned 5 and his head only has a few inches of free space before it touches the door frame. Not so sure about the age group from 6-10 since my kiddo is 3’5” already at age 5. It’s cute and we hope to get a few years out of it but common kidcraft...shape up in quality! Not your best.

Great kit design, but many flaws

I got this kit for our 3-year old granddaughter, rather than build one from scratch. I was impressed with the design and its many "cute" features, but had to use a lot of DIY skills to address several flaws. To begin with, the wood parts are rather thin, prone to warping, and somewhat fragile. Some split, or even broke completely, in shipment. I ordered replacement parts, but was able to do a partial fix with wood glue and furniture clamps. Worse, some of the plastic parts broke in shipment, particularly the plastic window frames. I was able to clamp these into place and hold them with exterior caulk for now, hoping to replace them when the parts finally arrive. The weakest part of the kit is without doubt the roof - it is shipped in three pieces and held together with 25 mm wood screws, which immediately pulled out of the wood under its own weight. I was able to brace the roof with additional 1"x2" lumber on the underside. As for the finish - be aware that the white finish that comes on the wood is not sufficient for an outdoor playhouse (nor is it claimed to be). Think of it as a primer at best. I painted the parts with two coats of a good quality exterior acrylic latex paint before assembly. Even then, the wood has lots of sticky resin that will bleed through the paint. If that matters, you will need to use a stain blocker first before painting. Actual assembly (not counting the painting) took about 6 hours. Due to the warping of parts, I added a few dozen additional screws to the corners to hold the exterior panels flat (being sure to predrill before driving the screws). The whole assembled kit fits on a 4'x8' sheet of pressure-treated plywood, and this will help the bottom dry more quickly after a rain. It is just light enough (about 80 pounds) for two people to lift and move to a new location. Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes, for the design if nothing else. Our granddaughter loves it! But I would have lots of caveats - don't expect very sturdy construction, and be prepared to deal with broken and/or fragile parts.

I regret this purchase and wish I'd gone with a different company. My Modern Outdoor Playhouse came with multiple broken, cracked, or warped boards, which was frustrating since we were trying to assemble it in one day for a birthday surprise. It also smells badly. My daughter refused to play in it for the first two weeks because she didn't like how she smelled afterwards. (I thought its being outdoors would help the smell dissipate quickly, but it has not.)

You have to weatherproof!

The house is super cute. If you want a house that’s put together in an hour and already weatherproof go buy a plastic one. This one requires some work. We built a deck for ours to sit on, also as soon as we had it put together I put an exterior bonding primer on
