Good system, poorly thought instructions

I like the way it looks but, not how it is set up. The instructions call for spacing of 22.4” between the vertical standards. Please find me the .4” mark on my tape measure. It is broken down into 1/32” increments. Not 1/10”. Also, the spacing seems wrong. Most homes have 16” spacing to the centers of studs. Having 22.4” spacing does not allow for stud mounting. Instead, you must use much less reliable sheetrock anchors.

Best Rail & Standard System I have used

I am a carpenter and contractor. I have used many different “Rail & Standard” closet systems. The Closet Culture System is plainly superior to others I have used. The steel is substantially higher gauge. Fit and finish is excellent. Accessory items are robust without the “tinnyness” found in many other systems

I just installed this system today using the solid shelves. It's good and sturdy, provides good flexibility for storage, and looks better than the all white wire systems we have seen at HD. Installation was a little harder than normal for me since my closet was 46" wide, not big enough to fit the 48" design. So it required a few cuts with my hack saw on the hang rail and one of the closet poles, and then I used my table saw to rip a few inches off the wood shelves on one side. Not too bad. The instructions were easy to understand and thorough. One constructive comment I will make on the instructions is that the installation of the provided screws into the vertical standards imply that just inserting the provided wood screws into drywall would keep them from swaying. Nope, that's a weak connection without a stud in back. It does mention possible use of drywall anchors, but it doesn't tell you how to get those buggers into the wall after you have loaded up the wall with shelves. I had to remove the shelves from the bottom of the standards to allow me to rotate the standards out of the way before I could drill the appropriate hole for anchors (I prefer mollies, they're stronger.) Doing this, it would be a good idea to mark the left/right location of the standards before you swivel them out of the way, so you know where to drill to get the standards back where they were so that the shelves fit the same way as before. Otherwise, great job on the instructions!
