Well, not so great.

Sure, I understand the concept of warranty but it galls me when devices start requiring service (expensive) and parts (expensive) just after the warranty period terminates. Such has been the case with my generator which has a) recently leaked onto the unfinished basement and b) now is putting out excessive amounts of water during the initial heating phase. Yes, the generator generates steam efficiently but I'm tired of stuff breaking as soon as it is "on my tab". This repair, per Kohler is roughly $500 in parts alone. We purchased the initial unit for roughly $3200. I'd give it a D on value and longevity and I'm currently in a good mood :)

Expected so much more for the premium paid

Unit began to leak water into shower. Followed the flush recommendation followed by the cleaning cycle. Stopped leaking for a day until that night it started making steam uncontrollably. Came home to alarms going off and a house full of steam. Shut power off to unit. Had plumber over to look at unit and found water in pan, leaking flexible supply line in unit, water had soaked inside of unit where electrical board is located. Hard to understand why a flexible line was used on this unit rather than copper , expect float may also be an issue.

Would not consider any other brand. Kohler steam units are the best.

Does not last long

Mine was great for a few uses, but it completely died just outside warranty. I called and they said they redesigned the unit and no longer have parts so I would have to spend $$$$ to buy a brand new one. Buyer beware! Oh they did offer me a discount on a new one, but it would still cost me thousands. Very disappointed because I had the shower custom built for that unit and I put Kohler everything into two houses. :(

Not happy

We installed this 6 years ago and had to replace it after 3 years. The new one is now leaking, same issue as the previous. We were able to get the first one replaced under warrnaty but had to pay a plumber again to install.

I bought the unit about six weeks ago and a master.plumber installed it. We are happy with the heat and steam it generates. I did not have to make additional changes to the shower for some reason despite that there is a gap at the top of the door.

I haven’t designed a steam shower in years and my client LOVES air! Be aware that there will be a lot of added electrical and plumbing to your project if you go this route but it adds to the luxury of a good shower. I added 5 body sprays to the plan.
