Water tight as a sieve

This mailbox just doesn't hold up. It was never particularly watertight, but my lord after 3 years I might as well have a bucket on a post. After three years of sunshine the tile like texture of the top is a complete pain to keep clean. We have a lot of hackberries in the area and you just cant keep the tiles free of mildew, so now everything gets a black halo. There one nice thing is, after 3 years the clasp is so loose and the door rattles so loudly I always know when the mail gets delivered.

Very Poorly Designed

I ordered this mailbox because of the side key access (so I don’t have to stand on the road to get the mail) and the appearance. A month after we installed it our neighbor found a stack of our mail someone has stolen, opened, and tossed in his bushes. The mail slot is large enough so that anyone with small hands can pull mail out of the front. Any time it rains the mail is completely soaked. A mailbox has one job…to protect my mail. It has completely failed.

Don't fall in love with the look

Our entire block of 19 homes decided to use HOA funds to buy & professionally install these attractive mailboxes. FAILURES: not water tight & the mail is often wet after storms; powder coating only lasted high UV of Florida for 3 years; the locking mechanism failed; the screws rusted holding the house # plaque and fell off and broke. Now we either replace it or repaint and find a new locking mechanism that will work. Not recommended, don't waste your money!

We could hear rattling when taken out of box. Once open the two corners were broken off. I live in a rural town so not easy to exchange. Doesn’t affect product from what we can tell, but expected more from the cost.

Misleading advertising

We ordered the mailbox and we thought the post and hardware to install it in the ground based on what we saw in the advertisement on the webpage. We received just the box and nothing else.They should not show the post in conjunction with the mailbox if the two were not being purchased together for the one price.

Good Quality

The Gibraltar Mailbox is well made and easy to assemble. Fit and finish of components is very good.

Great product, large box. I have had one at my home for over 3 years, and bought this one for my daughter so they didn’t have to worry about their mail constantly also
