Love LEM quality
I've used vac sealers for years now, so thought i would upgrade to your model. In particular I chose this one for the pulse feature and the roll holder. When we process dear it helps to be able to keep rolling out the size bag you need. I did just start a roll of generic vac bag and its too large for the LEM, so there's that. It is too thick to fit in any of my kitchen drawers so I store it in the laundry closet. I have used it through three sessions and it responded perfectly in all. Again LOVE the pulse feature.
2 Defective products in less than 2 years
Highly disappointed in this product. I purchased this because reviews said it was excellent for the price. I wasn't planning on spending this much. Well my first one had defects before the 1 year warranty was up. They did send me a replacement that is not defective as well after only 8 months. When I reached out to customer service for assistance all I received was "Thank you for the feedback". Not what I expected from a company that says their goal is to "deliver high quality products". Further the response I rec'd.
Amazing value and works fantastic
Very pleased with this machine. I replaced my old Food Saver which just did a terrible job of pulling enough vacuum to achieve long term storage of foods. Very simple to use, pulls an amazing vacuum and doesn’t take up a lot of space. I really like the Pulse feature which allows me to control the amount of vaccum for more delicate items or those with more moisture. You can tell when you pick those thing up that there is a lot of non plastic components. I give this vaccum a huge thumbs up 👍
Disappointed and returned product
Did not work. Either of the automatic or the manual buttons did not fully remove the air from inside the bags. Really disappointed considering the grinder worked so well but will be going to another brand from the vacuum sealer. The other unfortunate thing is the LEM does not cover the shipping cost to return the product even during the 30day back guarantee.
Very impressive
Used my new vacuum sealer for the first time and was really impressed. Sealed nine hundred pounds of beef it only took four hours. I am very pleased with my purchase. The lock on the top was a little tight but was good once I got use to it.
Well Engineered and Well Made.
I bought this to replace "the more popular" brand that would no longer seal. Right out of the box it was clear the LEM MaxVac 250 was a superior product. It is well engineered and well made. I found it to be easy to use and it does a first rate job of sealing bags of all different sizes. The challenge of Packaging large pieces of meat is easily accomplished because of the 13" wide roll capacity. The operation is simple and does an outstanding job of sealing.
Mediocre design and performance
My initial impression: I'm coming from a foodsaver gamesaver sealer. I loved that machine - great design, good vacuum power, and good seal. It died and I purchased this unit as I've been happy with LEM products. This unit cost twice as much as the foodsaver so I had high hopes. Unfortunately I'm disappointed. The unit states one hand operation and on mine, the left latch isn't perfectly lined up, so I have to push down with the left hand to get it latched, then push the middle latch with the right hand = two hand operation. Guessing this is poor manufacturing tolerance. Sealing - if you just use the seal option, it seals but then the vacuum runs for several seconds - why?? This takes longer than the foodsaver to just make a seal. The bag cutter - the bag storage compartment is bigger than the actual vacuum sealer making the unit seem larger than it needs to be. Yes it cuts bags from the roll, but you then have to remove it and then put it in the vacuum compartment to seal - inefficient to the point I just bought the quart bags. On the foodsaver you pulled out how much you needed, sealed it, and cut it - much better design. Cord - no internal cord storage and the cord is short. Lastly, the vacuum doesn't seem especially strong. I put 6 pieces of venison backstrap in a quart bag and it left air pockets between the pieces. It does come with an extra heat seal strip. I can't speak to durability or longevity as I've just really used it a few times to assess it. Not really sure why. In summary, the unit functions, but for the price I think you could do much better elsewhere from a design and functionality standpoint.
Great Vacuum Sealer
Recently purchased and have used it for a few hours vacuum sealing dried hops from our farm. Has worked great for us so far. We made/sealed probably 50 bags and our hops are ready to be stored and brewed with! Only thing I'd like to note is that the vacuum area (where the end of the bag has to sit to be properly vacuumed/sealed) is pretty small. Only about a half an inch wide. Just makes it a little finnicky to make sure the end of your bag is in the right spot while you close it. Almost takes three hands to do it consistently/repeatedly and not get a wrinkle in your seal. This is my first vacuum sealer so maybe that's just something I need to get used to!
Not worth the money.
Bought this less than 2 years ago. Worked great, until it didn't. For this kind of money, you'd expect something to last longer than this. LEM said I'd have to pay to ship it back to them, pay for return shipping after it was fixed and then pay for parts and 25.00 fee. I'm guessing that this will be at least 100.00. It would also take a month. I'm back to buying cheap vacuum packers and throwing them away when they burn out after a year or two. Not worth the money for this upgrade.
Poorly designed LEM vacuum sealer
Bought this unit to replace my FoodSaver vacuum packer. I was most interested in the more powerful vacuum pump. I am disappointed! First, you have to hold down the lid to get a proper vacuum and seal. Ridiculous!! Never had to do this with my FoodSaver. Second, the seal fails if there is anything on the sealing area. My FoodSaver successfully sealed almost every time, even with a little moisture or debris in the sealing area. I will have to return this unit since it does not perform even as well as my old FoodSaver.
MaxVax 250 Vacuum Sealer
I purchased this for a gift for my lady friend. It looked fine out of the box, but when you shut the lid and try to lock it down, it takes excessive pressure to do so, and when it does lock down, one side or the other is not latched. The only way you can get it to latch is applying light pressure to each corner of the lid and then using your forehead push down on the latch to lock it down. That's the first problem. We just butchered some fowl, and trying to use this product, it sucks the air out and when you press the button to make a seal, it looses it suction. She called the number on the box and they need a receipt and will send parts for us to fix. Give me a break!
MaxVac 250
Doing great so far. Purchased this unit to perform better than my food saver unit. It is more robust and has a much larger capacity prior to over heating. I have yet to do a large quantity seal, but so far it has done a great job. I am looking forward to next deer season and sealing snack sticks, summer sausage, bologna, and brats without waiting for the unit to be ready to seal.
Excellent product
It is fantastic. Works amazing. Never dissappointed with any priduct purchased from lem. New or refurbished always of highest quality. And die hard construction. When looking for processing supplies and equipment always look to purchase lem products. I know will always hild up and i know lem stands behind everything they sell. Always buy and recommend lem products
I didn’t care for it. It was too difficult for me to operate the latch (arthritis in my hand). Also since it doesn’t self seal the bags as cut I had to use the latch twice for each bag. When we do use a sealer it is for over 100 lbs of meat at a time. Because this was something we don’t use on a daily basis, I didn’t discover this until we were outside the 30-day return policy. LEM agreed to take it back for store credit and I have yet to hear anything since I returned the sealer. I have always liked this company and their products but this experience has not been a happy one as it was a bit of money for us.
Ideal for home use
This is the cat's meow for home use. Used to to process three big animals this year - if doing 5+ big game animals or perhaps a beef, I'd likely go larger. Left it set up on the kitchen counter and use it almost daily to seal food before freezing, can buy large quantities of ???? at Costo then split up at home then vacuum seal and freeze. It's turned out to be much more than a game processing tool (of which it does an excellent job).
Junk
Hate I don’t return this crap when I could. I want so bad to throw this thing in the trash, but I spent good money on it. Does not seal if ANY moisture is in the way, my old sealer would. Does not vacuum all the air out, leaves large pockets of air, I have tried many different approaches with the same results.. air pockets. Individual steaks, fish fillets, breasts and the like it does well, as long as you don’t get any moisture where the sealer strip is. I waste a lot of bag material trying to use this thing. As soon as I can afford to buy another vacuum sealer I will toss this junk in the trash, not even worth giving to someone……
First Impressions - kind of "meh".
Works as advertised with a few disappointments. First of all, it doesn't work well on heavier gauge plastic vacuum bags. The push button controls just feel cheap. The latching mechanism takes more effort than I think it should both to lock and to release and gives me some concern over how long this part will last. Lastly, the cutter is quite chintzy and doesn't cut bags nearly as effortlessly as my old sealer did even after over a decade years of use. I haven't sealed a large number of items yet, so I am hoping the ability to do so without it overheating and creating delays will make up for these few noteworthy shortcomings.
It's OK
I had borrowed a friends MAXVAC 1000 and was totally impressed with the LEM machine. It was fast and solid with a wide melt strip about 3/8 wide. Economics and a time crunch led me to chose this cheaper 250 model. The reman had the same warranty as a new one so it seemed the way to go. I had paid for an extra melt strip and spare gasket set. Did not receive the extra melt strip. (The ad on the box claimed a extra melt strip was included standard) So I should have got 2. The 250 only melts an 1/8 strip and the plastic "lid closer" arms seem fragile. Hopefully it will last longer than the FOOD SAVER it replaced in my home. Wishing I had waited to purchase till I could afford the 1000.
This is a nice unit and it works fine. I was honestly expecting a little better for the price as I have had a Food Saver at half the cost that performed about as well. I am a bit disappointed that the vacuum power is not quite as strong as I had hoped and the sealer will not seal on the first attempt if there is the slightest amount of moisture or liquid in the bag. The lid latch is unnecessarily hard to close for arthritic hands like mine. On the positive side, the unit is pretty heavy duty, it is ready quickly after switching on. The bag feeder works well and it unit operates well. Overall I am happy with the unit but not the price.
SUB-par product and HORRIBLE company!! - Actual Experience below!!!
after a TON of research, we purchased this unit. We noticed rather quickly that it wasn't living up to its "non-stop" back to back sealing production. But no big, we can pause in between sealings if we need to.
