Lorex 2K wireless camera
Great product overall. My only complaint is that the camera was still assigned to the original owner which resulted in a phone call to tech support. It took well over 30 minutes to try to resolve the issue. Once that was done I was able to connect the camera to my system. I already have another wireless camera so this one a nice addition.
Beautiful System-Hard wired and Wifi NVR
System started off small - I just put up a wavelink 1800 wifi booster for large acerage and wow!!! Works Great- now I don’t have to run 2 Poe boosters to hard wire 900’ to the gate!!! Going to add few more cameras on the electrical meters so I don’t have to climb the snow banks in winter to self read them!! It’s a Great System!
Good PTZ Camera with Smooth Controls and Quality
The 2K PTZ camera is a fantastic option for anyone looking for excellent performance in both video quality and pan-tilt-zoom functionality. The image resolution is sharp and clear, even in low-light conditions. The PTZ controls are impressively smooth.
It's ok, but not great
This camera does not work as well as I had hoped or expected for a Lorex product. It does not track a moving object very well as i can walk past it and it does not follow me. Also, it really should have 360 degree motion detection. What is the point of a pan and tilt camera if someone can come in from behind it and it doesn't sense them? Also, it should be smart enough to focus on faces and not feet. To many times the camera has panned to a person's feet because that is what is moving. How can you identify someone by their feet? The picture quality is great, and the ability to control the camera is a nice feature, but definitely needs more thought put into its design and functionality.
Feels glitchy
Having been burgled in our old house I wanted to ensure we at least saw who was breaking in at our new place. So I bought this out door camera a door bell and an internal cam ,along with 4k ultra HD NVR. All three cams were reasonably easy to set up. As soon as I set up the NVR, I had duplicate steams on my phone, I lost many of the smart features and my Google hub was just getting confused! So I started again deleted everything and set up differently. The NVR is now just standing alone happily recording and my phone and Google hub work in sync with all the original features or night sight etc. All in all not so simple to set up but at least when I'm away from home I can see myself getting robbed! Door bell and chime was a nightmare too but that's another story.
Hiding the Plug
It does its job very well. Clear video image, day or night. Follows motion up, down, side to side. Super easy to setup and install under my eve and the other on the front porch door frame.
Bad experience. Camera don’t work
Please do not buy these cameras. They do not work nor keep the correct time. It’s 3pm and the camera time shows 10am. After 2 weeks and 24 hours on the phone. It can’t be fixed. No one at LOREX KNOWS HOW TO ADJUST THE TIME. THEY ASKED ME TO CLIMB UP TO THE SECOND FLOOR AND TAKE THE CAMERA DOWN AND RESET IT. ABSURD!! The time just changed on its on. Lorex does not know how to fix it, giving me issues or returning & exchanging. Do not buy this camera. Do not buy from Lorex! I have been attempting to get this solve for 2 months. These cameras do not have auto tracking, which a supervisor told me that they did.
Great outdoor security camera with wide range of motion.
I have two of these installed at the front and back of my home. The best feature is the auto tracking if turned on in settings. It tracks any movement and return back to your preferred angle. 360 degree rotation is another great feature to have so you more angles to set to your liking. The picture is very clear. Installation is very easy to setup.
Totally disappointed
I bought this camera back in September of 2023. It had worked fine until 5/10/24 with no issues. Since then, it has been offline. I have been on the phone with customer service several times trying to get this issue resolved. First, the people at customer service are hard to understand due to their strong accent. I went through several steps of troubleshooting with a service agent. I was told that since the camera was covered under warranty that they would replace the camera. Instead, I got more phone calls from customer service wanting to troubleshoot more. They had me contact my wifi service to make sure that I had the correct router that had 2.4 ghz wifi, and they wanted to know the speed of the wifi. They also wanted to know what make of phone I have, and what the current update version my phone was using for the Lorex app to work properly. This information wasn't given to them all at once. They would call back a day or two later asking for this information. They would also ask when it would be a good time to call, but they didn't follow it. They would call me when I was at work, and they would ask if I could do more troubleshooting then. I have called them back, and they say that this situation has now been escalated to a different technical support. I have asked the service agent the last few times to speak with a supervisor or someone from the company, and they refuse. This is not the first camera that I had problems with. I also had a flood light camera that the flood light stopped working during the warranty period. They did replace that camera, and that camera has remained online, so I am at a loss as to why they would think the issue with my pan/tilt camera has anything to do with my wifi service. I am a police officer, and I have recommended the Lorex cameras to several victims to use for their homes. At this point, due to the problems with the cameras, and especially the issues with their customer support, I would not recommend any of Lorex products to anyone.
Frustration Wireless Connection
Cannot figure out how this cam connects to my existing NVR, 864 series. There are not clear instructions. The camera is definitely within wifi distance, shows green flashing light, but does not connect...and there is NO instruction on how to connect to my newly purchased NVR.I am not computer illiterate.... I have spent WAY too much time on this. Will now call Lorex and see if they can assist. Totally frustrating.
App needs work
The camera is great. It doesn't always record when a person is outside. There really should be a video tutorial of the Lorex app. Either we don't know how to use the app well or it is confusing and requires a lot of navigation to see a video. Our push notifications tell us that there is a recording and when we go to play it, sometimes it tells us that there is no recording.
Good camera, problem setting up
I had one of these before and had hard time setting it up. I bought two new cameras and again, went through set up but at the end it couldn't register the product. It would hang. It was in the evening. I repeated it in the morning and it went through.
Maybe Lorex's best wifi cam
I have 3 of these now. The wifi connection with my mesh system is superior to the smaller W462AQC-E indoor wifi cameras. They always sneak off-line and come back a little later. The F461AQD-E has 2 antennas and rarely drops out. I use 2 with ethernet conections to my router. At first Lorex customer service said plug the ethernet into the NVR. They were wrong. It constantly went off-line, Plug it into your router, do a search on the NVR, and you'll find it. Extremely stable in this configuration. But the wifi connection, as I said, is very stable also. The last two F461AQD-E I bought operate at 30 fps, which was not advertised. My first F461AQD-E only allowed 25 fps. 30 is always better than 25 if you're viewing on a TV and not a computer monitor. The picture quality is typical of the Lorex line. Wide Dynamic Range keeps highlights from blooming and maintains details in shadow. But at night in color mode WDR adds some noise. I turn WDR off and raise the gamma a little bit to get the best of both worlds. My first camera has been in operation over a year in the elements and is going strong.
CANNOT connect to the new WiFi network, always reverts to the previous one.
It was a good camera until it was not.
Works for what I wanted to do
I replaced a fixed outdoor camera with this pan and tilt model so I can scan my entire back yard. Works perfectly for that. Still have motion detection for my gate. Beta version of tracking an object needs some work; tends to lose the person if they are walking fast. Wish I could set a “Home” position for the camera then return there with a single button push.
A Great Upgrade
Changing our WiFi router created problems with our old exterior cameras and we were left with little choice but to upgrade. These new cameras connected and installed easily and provide a lot more reliability and versatility than the old fixed angle. The ability to pan and tilt is great, but the motion tracking is even better. WE love the new cameras.
Good Product for the Price
Still reviewing. Had trouble getting camera set up due to 2.4G instead of 5G. Like the fact I can scan a large area. Camera follows object pretty well. Camera will not pick up object much past 50 feet to record even though on Live View you can see several hundred feet. All in all, i think this is a good product for the price.
Doesn't work
I have installed dozens of Lorex cameras, Home and Cloud for residents and businesses. Setup is always hit and miss. The simple instructions are never complete or correct. A work around is almost always needed.
The Pan/Tilt feature (smart track)
The Pan/Tilt feature (smart track) is a bit delayed and clunky movements. It's a bit like early model T's, sure they got you there but it was bumpy along the way. I'm sure the technology in a couple more years will smooth this out. The 2K was good both day and night. The " Motion Sensitivity" feature really doesn't differentiate between human and non-human movement or objects. Using the settings 4-5 will cause large moths/bugs to turn the camera on and give false alerts. Set-up instructions leave a lot to be desired. Customer service is a "3" at best. Sure, they are friendly but sometimes difficult to understand the foreign accent. Quality of product is a "5". Probably biggest hang-up for me is inability for 2 people to be in system at same time or "share" is only for email, not phone numbers. As for features, it's a "5" star. Overall though, it's really a 4-star system.
Great
Works great for just alittle bit of money. Love it easy to use. Very happy with purchase. Neighbors think its cool too how it tracks people that walk by. Make people think thiwr being watched 24/7 by a person when it moves. Really cool camera. Now I hope lorax gives me a free doorbell camera for a great review.
