Satisfactory

This bench is very poorly made, pre drilled holes were either drilled too wide, to deep or not deep enough and even the holes wasn't drilled straight. I've had to use some of my own bolts / screws what i found in my shed what was slightly wider to fit in the correct pre drilled holes what was to wide. Having said that the bench does look good but just a shame the making of it was either done in a rush or with inexperienced personnel. 5 star for the design 1 star for everything else. We also ordered the bench in grey and it's arrived like a burnt wood effect 🥴

Lutyens Wood Garden Bench

I put this on my front porch. It's beautiful. It was slightly tricky to assemble the legs as instructions were a diagram only. I finally figured it out and I am happy with this bench.

Great Garden Benches

I love these benches. We have two: one in a more serene setting of a moss garden; the other on our back lawn, facing the flower garden. The bench in the moss garden is stained, while the other is a painted surface. The finish of the stained bench is not as smooth as that on the painted. We chose the color to match the rustic armillary. If color is not a concern, I would opt for the painted benches.

Bought this Again

I use this bench in the bed at the front on my house for curb appeal. I brought it from my previous home and recently replaced it after having the first one for 7 years. It folds flat for easy storage in the garage during winter.

Description of this bench listed the seat width as 48". To seat 2 adults, that seems reasonable. The bench arrived at only 36" wide. I cannot get a replacement because that size is not available. So I am stuck with an expensive piece of furniture that I don't have room for. Now I don't have enough budget left to furnish that porch as planned. Very disappointed.

Beautiful wooden bench

This bench is great the way you can fold it up. My husband has assembled a lot of my purchases and this one he had no problem with it. I have it on my covered front porch to greet people as they come to my door.

Nice design but...

I like the design of this bench. I bought the natural finish. When I opened the box and saw the finish I was disappointed. It was spotty and very rough. The 8nstructions even tell you that you may want to add a coat of finish!! For the money it should be better quality. My husband took the rime to sand and refinish it rather than send it back.

Very nice bench

This bench was exactly like the picture. Very easy to assemble and the fold-up feature is so convenient for winter storage. Nice shiny paint finish. Repels rain well so far. In Canada & dealing with UPS was a nightmare. The cartons were damaged and 1 bench had a corner scratched. All on UPS. But Plow & Hearth did everything to help. Ordered 2 and am very pleased with them.

Not sure if I would purchase this product again

Had the piece for just over a year. It was the perfect piece for the garden area. However, when I moved it to the lawn to wash off all the pollen, the right arm piece fell off. The wood had rotted and the hinge and screws were rusted. Not good for an advertised piece of outdoor furniture. I could repair the piece if the area where the hinged and screws were had not rotted. Now not sure what to do. Very disappointed in the quality of the furniture.

Very nice wood garden bench if properly packed w/styrofoam.

We use this wood garden bench in our front porch area. It looks great there. My only issue was with my original order, which had big scratches on both sides of the bench. I sent an email to your customer service department regarding my issue & received a reply from Ms. Katina B/customer support. She was very helpful in having my issue rectified in a timely manner. The replacement wood garden bench had a small scratch on 1 side of the bench. I would have given 5 stars if the wood garden bench was better packed with more styrofoam or bubble wrap, to prevent & protect your wood garden bench during shipping.

Perfect garden bench

Great garden bench, I couldn't be happier. It is as sharp looking as the picture. It is very clever how it folds up for carrying or storage. One heads up though, it is quite heavy; I struggled to drag it into my garage. For me it required two people to assemble and I used a wood protector spray to help durability. It arrived quickly after ordering and was extremely well packed. I recommend; I don't think you will be disappointed.

Love it - Sweepstakes - In Memory of

I searched for the perfect bench for my son to give as an "In Memory of Tilly" bench- a friend he lost at 16 yrs old. When I saw this, it was perfect! He loved it, he picked the color. I ordered it, classy looking, well made to withstand the elements and reasonable - all hard to find in one bench everywhere I looked. As soon as it came, he put it together and if it wasn't for the better purpose it is meant for, after I saw it, I wanted it for myself. Exactly how it appears in the picture. I am so proud and he will be so proud to leave it on the school grounds as something other students will hopefully enjoy and remember what a great person Tilly was! So satisfied with our purchase! No I would not buy this bench again.

I was really excited to receive this bench. My 11 year old daughter was able to build this almost all by herself. Only a little assistance from me. I am really bummed because the bench came with so many flaws. It looks like I have owned it for years because of all the scratches, knicks, dings, etc. Like I said it just looks like it has been used. I was thinking for the price I paid, I would get a beautiful, perfectly crafted, blemish free bench. I love everything else about the bench.

Too Many Issues

Wow... this bench was more challenging than anything I have ever had to assemble. THe directions are horrible, just pictures and poor ones at that. Went on You Tube to see if there was an instructional one on there, there was one but it was awful and absolutely no help. In the end figured out why I was struggling with assembly. The seat portion was suposed ot be attached to the arched back and it wasnt. All the screws that attached the two parts had fallen out because they drilled the holes far too big. I had to find alternative screws to try and secure it, really only have one screw in each section that would tighten so god help me when I go to sit! The other surprise was I choose natural which appeared to be a honey color and what I got was a drak brown, almost black. The bench also has many flaws in the wood. Regardless, it still is a beautiful bench, but very unhappy with the array of issues with it. I would return it but it was a gift.

Would buy thus again & agsin if needed

Beautiful practical bench for our deck . We needed a sm bench fir our sm side deck & this was perfect! Not only does it look great & elegant but it's practical bec we can fold flat if we want to store away in winter or need space.

Five stars for customer service.

First let me say that Plow and Hearth gets 5 stars for customer service! I bought this bench for a shady area in our garden. The design is beautiful, the size is just right for two people to sit comfortably and the price is reasonable. The bench was very easy to put together. Unfortunately the bench was poorly packaged and one arm was gouged by the metal clamp part on the bottom of the seat. There were also several areas on the bench where the finish was rough. I could have returned the bench, but it was exactly what I wanted and Plow and Hearth would not have another in white until August. I decided that it was a good value for the price and I could repair the damage myself, so I kept it and thought that would be the end of it. A few days later Plow and Hearth Customer service contacted me to say that they were refunding a portion of the purchase price. The refund was unexpected but greatly appreciated. I will certainly consider Plow and Hearth for purchases in the future.

beware what happens to your product when shipped

the bench is beautiful but the box it arrived in was damaged. the bench has about 20 places where the paint was chipped off. I called customer service. they stated they could not provided me with paint to fix this damage so unfortunately it is up to me to try to match the paint type and color so the bench looks like it should,not something I got at a garage sale. I still have not received the pillow. Too bad it was not packed in the box to cushion the damage that occurred. If I could buy this product without shipping it would have been perfect.

Perfect Choice for our outdoor patio

We ordered a replacement Lutyens garden bench made of eucalyptus, for an outdoor site. The last bench of teak lasted 25 years. It held up beautifully but one armrest dowel finally failed. This new one, in light gray, is so lovely on our stone patio, with a little stone wall just behind it. We're thrilled with our purchase. The look is lovely and gracious, the price was amazing (on sale), we especially love that we patronized a regional and wonderful company. And it was delivered very quickly. No reason NOT to give Plow & Hearth 5 stars!

A unique bench and well made

Love this unique bench. Purchased it as a gift for a relative. She is thrilled with it. Good quality, sturdy and easily stores away in bad weather.
