Poor quality
I love that marmoleum is a more economical friendly option than other floors but I was unsatisfied with the design of the tongue and groove system. The t&g backing is made of something like particle board, which had many imperfections and was prone to breaking off completely. Sometimes once it broke it would bend back on itself and make it impossible to get a good seal. When that happened I had to remove the broken section, which made me feel like I can't trust that patch to be waterproof. Because of how many sections of the t&g failed I looked up whether I can seal the product to make it more reliably waterproof but forbo warns not to do this because a wax or sealant would damage the manufacturers sealant. So I guess I will just have to be anxious every time my kitchen has to be mopped or if there is a leak.
I chose Seashell and I absolutely love it. Such an easy, high quality floor to install. Cuts easily with a jigsaw as instructed. Used Quietwalk underlayment. Seams are virtually invisible. No breakage in any of the nine boxes. Makes renovating fun! Don’t hesitate to buy. Wayfair is a great place to get Marmoleum too.
I bought the pine forest without a sample. Scary. It looks like green leather. I Love it. Couldn’t be happier with the color.
This is a fantastic product - beautiful, well made, very easy to work with. Feels great underfoot, too. We picked the welsh moor which I worried might be too dark, but the colors are rich and varied. The pattern definitely makes the small room feel bigger. We’re thrilled with our new kitchen floor and will definitely use Marmoleum click lock again in the future.
I've installed this brand of flooring in two rooms. It installs so very nicely. It's a bit expensive but I felt it was worth it, especially after installing the first, smaller, room. I have not had either for very long so I can't say anything about how it holds up. It looks really nice! So, from my perspective at this point I would highly recommend it. It was packaged very nice too. Total of 13 boxes and had no damage at all.
Love my new kitchen floor!
I installed Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal this past week in my kitchen. I've installed a few floating floors which were cheaper per sq ft, and apparently you get what you pay for. This is so well-engineered--the way the seams disappear as the panels click into place is so delightful that my husband and I were actually giggling during the install. I learned from This Old House (not from Forbo's installation instructions--look for TOH's YouTube vid on linoleum tile) that you can knock off the ridge in the seam with a chisel if you need to fit into an area where you don't have the space to click at an angle. Add a small bead of wood glue or caulk to the seam and gently hammer into place with a scrap cut to fit into the seam. It worked like a charm and I was able to get all the fussy bits around doorways and the pantry nice and clean and tight. The hardest part was dealing with mold and termite damage to my subfloor which the previous owner of my home did not see fit to repair before putting down the laminate I removed, but that is another story. I have pets and chemical sensitivities and wanted something waterproof for the kitchen, and this seems like a great solution. No smell! Time will tell how it will wear, but I have high hopes. Right now, it looks gorgeous. Asian Tiger is an interesting color (it's like an impressionist painting!), but it fits well in our '60s ranch home and with the yellow and gray color scheme we already had and we're very happy with our choice. It's a fun statement without being too obnoxious. Also, Green Building Supply customer service was very responsive and helpful and the shipping company gave me options for delivery dates, which was wonderful. Overall a great product and great buying experience!
We created a two tone checker pattern using the square shaped Cinch Loc Seal product. Though we've installed multiple click style floating floors in the past, nothing prepared us for the frustration of installing this product. The fit and finish of the floor, once you fight it into place, is excellent. It has a nice soft feel under foot and we love the colors. But the frustration of putting this product down overshadows the benefits. Each of the four sides has a different locking profile, which increases loss over those with two different profiles. The manufacturer states that you should not use a mallet to install this, but that's pure fantasy. Bottom line: if reducing loss, ease of installation, and cost are factors for you, don't use Cinch Lock Marmoleum.
I really like this product. It installed nicely. My kitchen is old so has odd angles but my handyman was able to work with the marmoleum and make it work. It looks great. No gaps or seams that are obvious. It fits together well. I just had it installed but it seems like a good protect that will last a long time. Ordering and pick up were very easy. I could even give the name of my handyman so he could pick it up.
We really love this flooring! We purchased the Oxidized Copper. DIY project went down in a 12X12 kitchen with no issues and in very little time. The floor itself feels amazing under your feet. It has a cork softenss to it, sound dampening and doesnt attarct per hair etc. Super eays to clean and maintain. Really couldnt be happier with this purchase. Highly recommend if you are looking for a high quality, healthy flooring product for your home.
DIY dream! Safe for family and looks $$$
This is our second floor using Forbo’s Cinch Loc planks. First one still looks great after almost 7 years- and we have 2 kids and a large dog. The install is absurdly easy, cinch in one and just move to the next. Mess up your pattern? No problem, simply take it apart and redo it. Cuts easy with a jigsaw for the edges against the wall too. There IS a sweet spot when cinching them together. When you’re laying down your piece, don’t force it down. If you’ve got it right it’ll almost pull in and set itself right in the perfect spot. Seamless and satisfying when you get the groove down. We laid the recent floor ourselves and actually had fun doing it because it was so nice (and easy) to feel so successful- haha, even with kids and a dog thwarting our progress, and in such a short amount of time! Recommend so highly, especially for DIYers with no experience that want a toxic free home for their peeps :) Order samples first as the colors will be a little different straight out the box (slight yellow tinge BUT it fades within a day or two depending on how much sun the area gets). We’re crazy smell sensitive and this was no biggie at all- did have a smell but not a chemical ahhh! one, nor did it induce any headaches or nausea. It was gone in maybe 2/3 days max?? That’s about it! You can do this project. Go for it because it’s easy, looks so good, and best of all is safe for your family. Oh and does have a prop but that’s only applicable when cutting. Once cutting part is finished it’s all good and supposedly has no long term off gassing, phthalates, and all that ewe!
Bedroom
One of the easiest locking floors I've ever installed.I've installed both expensive and cheap laminate (wood core) floors and vinyl plank floors. This was one of the easiest in how it locked together. Feels great under foot in a bedroom. Not sure I'd use it in a kitchen, but super happy with results. I found another vendor that offered a full demo kit for $25 (basically shipping to me and back) with every color Forbo offer. That was super helpful. The photos on this and the Forbo web sites are good, but it's hard to get a true appreciation of what the color will look like. We laid all the samples on the floor and looked at it with day and night light and then slowly eliminated the ones we liked least. I ended up with a color I would not have picked off the on-line photos. The plants are thicker than most laminate floors and have a thin cork backing. I still put down a layer o the thing foam underlayment for a little more insulation and acoustic damping. I put the floor in solo and that was super easy. Just be sure to search for the Forbo installation videos on YouTube from Fobo. They are clear and easy to follow. They show the trick to use a spare board to lock the first row together 100% straight and lines up perfectly. Then you slide it in place and the 2nd row is easily attached. After that I placed my spare boxes on top of the first row to add plenty of mass to ensure nothing could slide around. This wasn't the cheapest floor, but it was in-line in costs with higher end laminate floors. One big selling point is that the material is all made from natural materials unlike most laminate floors that are basically covered with a layer of hard petro chemical material. The good laminate floors are study and wear resistant, but I like have non toxic floor option.
Great price Walmart, good delivery, timely.
I've used DIY Marmoleum click 12"X12" click tiles on 4 other floors, and they are very comfortable on the feet, as well as tolerating some moderate irregularities in the floor pretty well. They require floor molding, because 1/3 inch space must be left around the outer edge next to the wall. You must start on the upper left and work to the lower right. This works very well only if there are no closets. All four sides are different, so edges cannot be turned around. The squares have to be lifted on one side to about a 20 degree angle, then pressed down, so they cannot slide into place. When done there is no visible seam between squares. The price was excellent. The delivery was good, and no tiles were damaged. Sell me some "silver birch" marmoleum at the same price and I'll buy it!
