Quiet fan and good clearance on 8ft ceiling

I bought this from Home Depot after reviewing the consumer report rating. Came in second behind a fan three times price. I did flush mount and only takes 9.5 inches of space. Purchased two for my main family room. I had difficult mounting the base to mounting bar…not enought gap to allow catching the lock notch. Put watchers between ceiling and mounting bar to get clearance needed to attach motor to ceiling. Additionally do not use high torque screwdriver on brass screws…make for difficult remove or replace actions.

Great fan! Not so much of the lighting

Love the fan itself, the lighting isn't great but I'm hoping a remote dimmer will help with the intensity and color

I like these fans. they have a good rating from Consumer Reports. The blades are a bit tedious to attach, but worth it, in my opinion.

Good fan, light is not bright enough. Because of the way the light is integrated into the fan it would be difficult to replace.

Second one I purchased.

First fan installed easily (except their weird blade install process) and it is very quiet. Just purchased a second fan but it goes in a room with a low ceiling and am doing a flush mount. The problem with installing it flush mount is you cannot use a remote box as the top of the motor has a part that sticks up about 1.5 inches and the remote box prevents that from happening. The ceiling box (fairly new 15 yo) doesn't allow the large remote sold as an add on to this fan to go up into it. It must be installed in the bracket that comes with the fan. But there isn't enough clearance trying to do flush mount. The only way to install it with the remote box in there is to put on the short downtube. Very Poor Engineering.

Good basic fan

This is a nice basic fan - nothing fancy, no remote control. It has just what we wanted - white, five blades, LED light, 2-switch wall control, and pull cords to operate fan and light. It is the fan my son wanted for his room. The NY Times Wirecutter recommendation steered us to this fan. I am happy with it, and my son thinks it is great.

The fan I ordered was not the fan I received. I ordered remote control fan as I cannot reach up. I paid for installation and did not notice until it was up. Will use it for lighting only until I can get new fan. Will donate this fan.

Noisy after about 4 months of use

The “permanently lubricated” start to make scraping noises after a few months use, its less noticeable at max speed but then it makes a resonant buzzing sound. Very difficult to sleep through.

Perfect for an office

Works perfect in my new office design. Contemporary and functional. Easy to install as it only took about 30 minutes. Powerful air distribution as well.

it squeaks

Bought this in April, 5 months ago. Installed soon after with no issues other than reaching the installation point, about 15 feet up in the living room. It seems to work fine but is nearly as noisy as the fan I replaced, that I'm pretty sure had been there and in use since the house was built in about 1985. That's quite noticeable and annoying. While I don't hear all that well, I do hear it. I bought because I respect the Westinghouse brand. Well... respected. I will look to avoid in the future.

Excellent fan with minor installation issue

Great fan, moves A LOT of air and very quietly. Fan motor and assembly is very well constructed and fairly easy to install. I had no need to balance the fan and it looks great. Only small issue was that the rubber washers that go between metal washer and nut on top of fan blade were slightly smaller than the bolts threads which made it a little tricky to install. I ended up having to use a pliers to keep the rubber washer steady so I could slowly thread each on to the bolt and then clear off any debris from the rubber washer so the nut would not get stuck mid-thread. Just FYI, otherwise super happy with the fan

Classy fan

Love this fan/light. The blades are reversible, which is nice, so you can change how it looks. Love the LED lighting..no changing of bulbs. Would order this fan again. Very classy looking.

Good Fans, Lights Could be Brighter

The fans are good quality, but the lights are not as bright as I would have hoped. Without the frosted glass domes they are really good, the domes dim the light too much.

Great, quiet fan

I bought this fan because it was recommended by the Wirecutter. It's a lot quieter at high speeds than my previous fan, and I also had a switch installed at the wall that controls it so I don't have to use the pull chains. There is a very slight electrical hum while it is running, but after the first night I hardly notice it. I'm very satisfied with this purchase and would consider another Westinghouse product.
