I wasn’t sure they would really work but they do! They’re very sturdy and the ends are super soft so they can’t scratch the mantle.

Excellent Holders, as long as Surface not Indented

These are excellent holders and well worth the price--as long as the mantel or countertop thickness you use them on is uniform. I used them on my kitchen countertop overhang. Since the thickness changed about an inch from the edge, the clear soft coating covering the bottom ball became distorted where the edge hit it. It isn't noticeable, but it is something to take into account before you buy them.

They are really great, but a little smaller than I thought. Will still work very well though.
