Good for very heavy doors and gates

I needed this for the sugar cane press I'm building. Strap hinges like this don't pull out of the wood because they have a greater horizontal surface area and more screws. They can take a ton of force.

You'll still need longer screws!

This is a decent hinge, but a 10-inch hinge probably means you're hanging a pretty big gate. 1.75" screws are definitely not long enough to hold up a big gate, or to hold a hinge on a post with a heavy gate pulling on it.

Used these to replace 4 sets of odd type hinges around the yard. They look good, do a good job and it'll be nice to have them all match for a change. I did learn how important it is to have them plumb too, I was slightly off and it was a big deal. Once that was done, they swing smoothly.

The hinges are nice to look at and provide plenty of support for the gate. The is 7 feet tall and 40 inch's wide, with pressure treated 2x4 frame and treated pickets.

I went to these hinges because the doors I built for my shed turned out much heavier than I had planed. I used carriage bolts instead of the screws provided because of this weight and they work great. One thing to remember, if you flip the hinge, flip the pin; it will fall out.

Highly Dislike and will never buy again

This hinge sagged throughout and has now given way. It completely rusted through and I have to repair the entire fence door and post. Poor Quality! Lowe's included this for a fence installation and I trusted them to select a durable product.Never again!

I have a heavy six by six foot Cedar wooden fence which is extremely heavy. A cause for hinges that can withstand the weight as well as the winds in South Texas. These hinges pull thru and get the job done.
