Very nice deck box. Spacious and holds exactly what I wanted it for. Easy to assemble but need two people to attach the lid. Seems sturdy enough to be sat on.
Based on the reviews it was what I expected. Put it together by myself within 30 minutes (I do this a lot). Reminder to support the back of whatever you are screwing into the panels. Predrilled holes only exist on the small panels as fir is a soft wood and can easily be drilled into. As I will be using this for package drops, like I did with the smaller version that is over 10 years old, I screwed random pieces of wood I had to the slatted bottom which adds support and weight to the box. I added the hard plastic sink base liner to the bottom when I screwed in the floor after I pre-drilled random holes on the edges, my preference on this big box so snow and critters don't slip through the bottom slats.
Flimsy. Split wood pieces. Not water tight. But cheap $$$ compared to all the others online. Planning to seal it with polyurethane and hope for the best…
This is fine, especially for the price. the bottom is slats, not solid, which works if you want it to drain, less good if you want to keep spiders out. It was not complex to assemble but I was not able to do it solo. I couldn’t hold the lid in position and attach the hinges at the same time, having some pre-drilled holes here would be a big help.
very nice looking and easy to put together. a bit flimsy and ill be curious to see how it holds up in the weather.

I was hesitant in ordering this based on reviews. I absolutely love it. I wanted a wood deck box. I'm putting sealer all over to help preserve it. It will look SOOOO much better than a plastic one.
Love this deck box! It’s sturdy, easy to assemble, open and close. I stained it to coordinate with other wood furniture on my deck. It’s placed under a bit of an overhang so doesn’t get downpours directly but has been totally moisture proof after months of use.
Mediocre build but still decent at this price
Took significant work to make these outdoor ready. Sanded, stained and oiled them. One of them needed a lot of glue and clamping to fix broken and splintered pieces. I definitely think assembly would have been really tough if I didn't already have woodworking experience. Still give them 3 stars because I think this is the best you are gonna do for the price point if you want wood deck boxes
I didnt end up using this storage bench as intended. We converted it to hide our cat boxes and it works great for that. Economical and I love the hinges. I could see the box not being able to keep up in extreme weather conditions though. If you live in a mild area weather wise or want for indoor use its great.

Very disappointing. Location for scissor hinges which hold up lid are marked on top; locations in box are indicated by drawing. Installed as indicated, lid would not close. Had to experiment to determine proper location. Once assembled, box so flimsy that I added braces to make it safe for someone to sit on it. Wood is very light and soft; no confidence that it will endure being outdoors, so I'm varnishing it. Bottom is slatted; open to insects and rodents. I added weed block and hardware cloth, to allow drainage but close out pests. No reflection on Home Depot, except that this product doesn't meet their usual standards, in my opinion.

Easy instructions to assemble. The inside bottom is slats so rodents could get in. We added metal screening beneath it since it sits out by our pool and is used for our kreapy krauly, hoses and pool tabs. We also applied a polyurethane with UV inhibitors to protect it from the weather.

Bought 2 of these and (oil) enameled (painted) them for exterior use - and like them ........ BUT BE WARNED, these are NOT LARGE ENOUGH ON THE INTERIOR to accommodate today's standard sized (large) cushions. If I were to install a lock-hasp on the lid ... I would be able to force it closed on 4 (two-pillow,joined) cushions (which would be squished a good bit, though). I've therefore decided on an alternative approach - raising the upper 'collar', and thereby the lid ... by 4 inches. If you plan to use these in a covered space where they won't get wet (or invite insects) though - you COULD consider removing the 'removable' 'grates' (x2) from the bottom which would allow enough room for the larger cushions mentioned above (but then the contents, of course, would be touching the floor). Mine, however, will be outdoors on one of the terraces; and if my alteration works as well as I hope it will - I may even purchase two more for another of the terraces (I just decided I wasn't going to be paying close to $200 or more for any more 'PLASTIC' BOXES [since buying unnecessary plastic products - when better alternatives exist - is encouraging growth of an industry which is not environmentally responsible]).
This product has several defects. I tried to set up a return several days ago, and my request never fully uploaded on the phone. The photos show gaps between the wood slats, and a piece that must have been cheaply glued together. The last defect might be fixed with wood glue, but having gaps means it’s not weather-resistant.
The finish on ours was more of a yellowish tint than the one pictured (somewhat surprising). Highly recommend you seal it before putting outside (we stained ours as well). The lid mechanism holds the lid up securely while getting things in and out which is nice - I hope it doesn't loosen up. The wood is a bit thinner than I would like, it would be easy to break the bottom. We only store seat cushions in it, so we weren't concerned. The top is lined to prevent water from leaking in during any rain, but the sides are not, so just be aware.
Nice Design and stain choice
This box is not as good in person as it appears in pictures but is still attractive and easy to assemble. It does keep things dry and quality of materials is ok to good. The size is a bit limiting, it's good for smaller items like towels or pool toys but didn't handle a lobster boiler, for example. It does have a nice stain choice but it doubt it will stand up like my larger and uglier resin deck boxes.
The color is terrible; it's almost bright yellow pressure treated wood, not the cedar look as pictured. It's small; does not fit large chair cushions. And the lid doesn't open all the way. And the wood has started to warp and nails are popping. Cheaply made; save your money.
Bought to replace existing box
We bought a house that had this item on the dock. The former owners added a hasp to keep the lid down. My son did not fasten the hasp, and the next bad storm flipped up the lid and blew it off the hinges, never to be seen again.
Took 20 minutes to put together, easy if you have someone to help hold things together while you put the screws in. Cheap wood, the side of the lid was cracked but will be easy to fix with wood glue. Box should work well but I'm keeping it under the cover of my front porch to protect from the rain-would probably not do well out in the weather. It is very yellow in color but actually matches my oak front door pretty well. Don't expect to store anything heavy or very small in it; the bottom of the box is slatted so small items could fall through and the slats are not very strong so heavy items might break it. The sides are also pretty weak/thin. But for what I'm using it for (UPS/Fedex delivery box) it should work just fine.
This is probably the worst purchase I have made from Wayfair. It is the only purchase I have been completely disappointed with. The chest is wobbly, and has not stood up well to being used. Corner braces have had to be added in order to use this deck box at all.
Outdoor storage for small garden tools
I purchased this storage box to store things that I did not want inside the house such as paint can, garden chemical gardening tools. This box is fairly well made with a strong (pleasant ) fresh wood scent, enough room for me to store all the "junk", and the openings on the bottom would allow for air circulation avoiding chemical vapors accumulation. Even thou this is real wood, it is a fairly light wood so I am not sure how long this will last. Also, one for the side molding's piece came splitted, but since it is not visible, I did not bother returning.
